It is highly unlikely that Iran will lie down like a Dog after a strike. Let there be no doubt about it, Iran will strike back.

If the hope of Iran is to usher in the end of times, then just hitting their Nuclear Facilities is a quarter measure at best. If your going to drop One bomb, you'd better be ready to drop Thousands.

Think the first 30 days of the first Gulf war.

The site isn't all that close to Qom. If the Israelis have a warhead that is hardened for soil penetration, they could likely detonate the weapon-and destroy the facility–with little residual radiation.

Surely they built near Qum precisely to combat the possibility of a nuclear strike. But there are precision strikes and actions of all kinds possible.

Yes, the Russians and Chinese will attempt to protect Iran; but they will accept a post-nuclear-Iran reality as well. That is how they operate. They play poker, but they have selfish interests.

China and Russia willing to play ball? Surely you jest or are you really that uninformed Mr. Gurney.

Russia and Iran have strategic agreements on arms (the S-300 anti-aircraft anto missile systems and S-300 missiles, two squadrons of S-30 airfraft and a support depot) and a strategic partnership agreement on the pipelines for natural gas and oil to Eastern and Western Europe. China just signed an agreement with Iran long term as China's primary supplier of oil in the 100's of millions of barrels. The Russians will tell Obama directly he can posture, but also to back off any sanctions or threats of military action or they will make trouble in Georgia and the Ukraine and China will tell the US that they will seize Taiwan if the US even thinks of upsetting these agreements. Yeah sure, Iran is on wjat is it…. oh yes….double triple probation if they don't stop their nuclear program.

And by the way, sanctions are a joke. Why do we even try sanctions (as a country)? If they hurt anyone, it's a country's common people. The elites aren't bothered. Sanctions only make the United States look feckless. Do the Chinese ever talk about imposing sanctions on those who upset them?

Sorry Mr. Gurney, but the only mystery about Iran's nuclear weapons program has been the self-delusion in the United States and the west as to Iran's goals. As recently as 2007, Tom Fingar–an apparent idiot (and Left-wing operative) on the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Staff–put out a National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) stating that Iran had abandoned it's nulear weapons program.

Considering Israel's options, I do think Mr. Gurney got to the right point about what Israel must do–use nukes. Air strikes are too much of a long shot. And if I were in Israel's government, I wouldn't bet that Obama would let such strikes proceed unimpeded.

Guess we need to pick a point in time, and start buying energy futures….
