We might actually have some recent, at least pro-Western civilization movies. Think of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Or the Harry Potter series. Both have been smash hits with interesting stories with the battle between good and evil. Lord of the Rings had some particularly relevant quotes, one of which was to the effect of “There is good in this world, that is worth preserving, and worth fighting for”. And showing how evil must be confronted and destroyed. Ignoring evil only allows it to grow powerful until it is a serious threat to even your very survival, and it leaves nobody alone. I even saw an article on the latest Batman movie that pointed out how Batman is the one person in Gotham City who is free to do the right thing, because it IS the right thing to do. And another line in the movie describing the Joker mentioned how some characters “don't really stand for anything, can't be reasoned with, and can't be negotiated with. They just like to see things burn.” That describes America's enemies and the enemies of Western civilization in general quite well, e.g., Islam. The movies are out there, if you know where to look for them. But even those may well have been made outside Hollywood.

Wow. Medved recreated James Bond and made him American. How creative.

And what exactly has Medved done that qualifies him to be such a pretentious, self-aggrandizing ass? Writing about movies? Whining on the radio in a shrill, high-pitched tone about politics? He's made his living talking about other peoples' work. And while hyping his own, he should remember that as of now he is as much of an amateur as the next guy.

From his own description of his foray into the creative world, its hard to imagine that “jealous” is a term that accurately describe his critics. And, even more humorous, he sees no irony in a lifelong critic going apoplectic at the prospect of his own work being critiqued.

Hollywood is a wasteland. Look at the hand wringing for self-confessed child-molestor-rapist Polanski. Here's the script: “Poor Roman had to live all those years in France. All he did was drug and sodomize a 13 year old girl after taking porn pictures of her. He was only forty-ish after all; a youthful indescretion, like when Teddy left Mary Jo in the salt pond. Why can't anybody see that a cinematic genius should be able to have a rape or two. If Charles Manson could make another Citizen Kane, he should get off as well.”

Courage is the virtue necessary in order to preserve all others. Genuine heroes do not only talk-the-talk but they have to walk-the-walk. However, nowadays, the RINOs and many of the Republicans tend to just want to get along and refuse to stand up for their principles and even support legislation opposed to their basic conservative beliefs.

Well, count me one offended minority. He speaks every language except Esperanto? What does he have against Esperanto? I met and wooed my wife in Esperanto….

Actually, an Esperanto speaking hero, who may be relatively well known in a small but international community which very rarely sees him in person (maybe just at the big conference held at a different site in the world every year), could be a pretty interesting character.

The heroes are there.

But we have to recognize them.

And we do not have to be austere.

We can and ought to still celebrate the joy and creations of the West at the same time.

We also have to recognize and oppose hypocrites like Sean Penn and Michael Moore (also fatheads like Bubbles).

I watched a good movie the other night called The Phenix City Story.

We do need some pro-America movies, but at the same-time I realize how lame and boring those stories are. Fight Club is probably some of the best story telling put on film in a long time. It was an Anti-hero movie to Libertarian Americans everywhere I'm sure. Face it, Conservatives aren't funny or good movie makers.
As a conservative even I realize this self-evident truth. We are too busy being logical, evidence based, and historians. We don't have time to propagandize fantasy to Americans we're to busy trying to convince them to seek the truth through reason. At least I am.
