But I am starting to get depressed as I learn more about the Left. I've been watching and learning about them since the mid-1960s. I don't really want to learn any more, but I might be convinced to "do" something about them. <br><br>Nice review Col. Peters. It teaches them all of the bad things in our history, and glosses over all of the great things, whilst minimalizing and downright lying about the bad history in the so called third world, or blaming all of that bad history on the West or Europeans more specifically. Actually, it's white people, since today, America is great and "cool" again now that we have a black President. We are the big bad enemy of history, because of Imperialism and slavery and in modern times we are also painted as the major bad guy because of global warming and our attempts to defend ourselves from Islamists, who by the way were created by us. All of Islamist terrorism is blamed on our influence and our occupation. So you see, we can never catch a break. Media and tUniversities are apt to call-out the developed world for its "carbon emissions" and forgiving China or India for the same thing. I don't think this is all about "hatred for humanity" but rather a healthy introspection and self-criticism gone haywire, along with a hesitation to apply our standards to other cultures. We beat ourselves up, and fail to celebrate and pat ourselves on the back for all of our accomplishments. It's "cool" to view America so cynically. It's "racist" to criticize countries in Africa or Asia, unless you're criticising them solely by blaming the problem on Western influence. Islamists can't be real bad guys because many of them are from the third world, and or are "persons of color" and I honestly believe that all of these issues are summed up in one principle, the soft bigotry of lowered expectations. Leftists who think America is the root of all evil are reflexively saying that only America is responsible and capable enough to blame. Terrorists are never responsible for their crimes beause they were pushed into it out of desperation, this is essentially a soft-bigoted, soft-racist view of Arabs as children who can't be held accountable for their own problems in their culture. I also believe that the story of Israel is never told honestly and fairly, and as a kid growing up in the 90's having limited access to tv, CNN was my main, only source for news. Their take on the issues, history and dynamics of the region was all I knew, and at that time I had a very anti Israel stance, precisely because of their news reporting. I simply was uninformed.
