Thanks, Lucy, that was very well and kindly put. I can only say it works for me, and has been proven to me to my own satisfaction.

I try to always be honest (why bother venting lies?), even when I'm being my usual flippant and sarcastic self.

I still don't think capitalism has failed. I believe our moral culture has failed and those humans without a moral compass will fail no matter what type of distribution system they're in. I'm sure that back in our cave days, there were a minority of men and women who were corrupt and greedy and hoarded the fruits and nuts.

That's a very honest post, Cowboy. I don't know what to say for a change except I'm glad you found out what makes you and our world 'tick' for you, for lack of a better word. Keep up the good work.

Great post, lots of food for thought, but I have to disagree on some points. Christ leaves it to the individual, he said nothing I can recollect about forcing/compelling anybody to follow his teachings. Socialism is compulsion and theft.

That's why forced conversion to Christianity can only be a political act, not a theological one. It plainly violates the theology, which is one of individual choice. The horrors done in the name of Christianity always have political roots (and I don't envy those that commit them when they have to 'splain it to the One whose name they committed them in, much less His Father). You'll notice, people who practice forced conversion did so with other religions before Christianity ever arrived. You'll also notice most denominations of Christianity reflect the culture they develop in (the pagan holidays we celebrate, for instance). That's why even though I have been a Christian myself since I was a kid, I've always been a little leery of the organized kind. My relationship With God is personal, church is for praise and fellowship with other struggling Christians to me. My parents always taught me to read The Bible as if it were written to and for me personally and decide for myself (it’s my soul in the balance) what it means. I think that's the best religious advice I ever got.

As long as they aren't using force or fraud, I leave people to practice Christianity or any other religion however they think it should be, because none of us will really know who's right until we stand before Them (It's always been my understanding that in Judaism, The Son of God exists, he just hasn't walked the earth yet).

Jesus didn't tell them to sell their cloak to buy a sword only to be meekly slaughtered by the first highwayman they came across. I think people mistake his injunction against responding to insult or provocation (a slap in the face) with violence, for an injunction against violence as a response to any violence.

I can also see the holiness and wisdom in suppressing and not acting out of hate or anger. Even when you are right, waste and wrong are likely to come of acting in anger or hatred. They tend to blind (enrage the dumb animal so he doesn’t see the trap and goes charging in), and are a wedge for Satan. If there wasn’t ever a time to unleash the animal inside, God wouldn’t have included it in us, for all things there is a time and a season. I don’t have to hate or get angry to kill evil Ahole mortal enemies like hezz and hamas, send ‘em 180 grains or a ton of SATguided and heartfelt love.

I don’t think the bible tells me to whitewash sin or my animal instincts. The message I got was to control my animal instincts and rise above them (that’s why he gave us that big frontal lobe) like I should. I can sin all I want, but I will pay for it here, and that can and does get pretty harsh. You’re right though, many Christians do think the way you say, like many conservatives who don’t really understand conservatism.

The laughter's a little uneasy for me, even with my twisted sense of humor, 'cause if you think about it for too long, it's kinda sad. Stalin used to amuse himself reading letters like that, often from people he personally signed the imprisonment order for.

Lol what kind of drug makes you think there needs to be a balance between merit and plunder? It's theft, not merit, that requires the other to survive, because someone must produce something before someone else can steal it. Maybe you should become aquainted with fundamental logic before trying economics?

More unemployment extensions? They've been doing that for 8 years now, even when unemployment was below 5%. It's time a bunch of lazy bums got off their kiesters and got a job. Typical leftist thinking (not that you're one of those lol ;-)), to pay people not to work.

Yea, wer're the crazy ones for calling carter and moore socialists. My dog thinks she's a human but that doesn't make her one.

I'm not seeing your point. You good at creating a false dichotomy, but I don't see how Bush's socialist principles are mine. I don't think you have a point other than to have conservatives argue against your liberal talking point which makes no sense at all.

How socialism Moore finds necessary isn't the question here but rather the balance of socialism with capitalism.

Anyone who thinks capitalism can survive without a descent degree of social policies is ignorant of fundamental economics.

Example: Ben Beranke could go in history as the biggest idiot ever appointed as Federal Reserve Chairman ---

"Someone Change Ben Bernanke’s Drugs" ----
http://www.morphizm.com/css/?p=1541

Even Allen Greenspan found it necessary to step into his shoes to agree that we must continue the unemployment extensions for obvious reasons. --- That can easily be interpreted as a socialist policy from a very conservative former Chairman.

So the argument of calling President Carter, Michael moore, ... socialist by FPM tells me that there are many more right wing freaks that need to change their drugs as well.

Yes we hear that --- but what is pathetic the fact that this article is doing exactly what you are accusing Moore of doing.

They are only two premises in the whole article and neither one of them can be considered deceptive but rather his stated opinion which Frontpage has no shortage of their own.

So go figure that one out

See Rush Limbaugh came to your frontal Lobe of your pea brain when you were thinking of the real big fat idiot -- Rush instead of Moore.

"MOORE: Yes. Capitalism! Yes. Well, I don't have to say it. Capitalism, in the last year, has proven that it's failed. All the basic tenets of what we've talked about the free market, about free enterprise and competition just completely fell apart. As soon as they lost, essentially, our money, they came running to the federal government for a bailout -- for welfare, for socialism. (Tabacco: I told you so!) And it -- it -- I thought the basic principle of capitalism was that it's about a -- it's a sink or swim situation. And those who do well, the cream rises to the top and, you know, those who invest their money wrongly or, you know, don't run their business the right way, then they don't do well"

See Weinstein conveniently left that quote out because Moore uses a mirror image of Weinstein's lame argument against him.

Moore makes an excellent point --- anyway you look at it, they voted for it and your asswipe president signed the bill therefore your constituents are hypocritical liars and socialist by your own standards.
