Brian McLaren is a secular progressive posing as a Christian. I would not take his profession of faith at face value. McLaren also seems to be old an style pacifist/isolationist of the old socialist bent. We have seen examples of such people in William Jennings Bryant and Woodrow Wilson.

Jesus asked,”Do you think that I have come to bring peace? I have not come to bring peace but division.” Christ divides men. Until Jesus Christ who is our peace returns to judge a godless world peace is not possible. Peace is not an absence of conflict but a life not in rebellion. A life where everything is in proper proportion and in proper relationship to everything and everyone else. It is a life where Christ is the center, we are in Christ and Christ is in God. That is perfect peace attainable through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sin. “The fruit of righteousness is peace and the effect of righteousness is calmness and assurance for ever.”
