To earnestly equal former GDR wird “Concentration Camps” (!), Honecker to Hitler (“fuhrer”) and the bureaucracy to the NS one (“Gauleiters”) gives deep insight into the weird paranoid world-view of the interviewee. I grew up in eastern germany, and though really despising it authoritarian regime, i would be phantastically amused by that cock-and-bull-story, didn't it imply such nasty consequences.

why is the anniversary all but unobserved and why aren't Americans and our president talking about biggest mass liberation in history?

Is it because to celebrate it would involve recognizing it as a victory over Communism. ? Hmmmmmm-I guess Fox News bashing is more important!
