Jerry Brown, the ethically challenged left-winger who serves as California’s Democratic attorney general, won’t conduct an honest probe of ACORN, according to an ACORN insider. ACORN has been in hot water since September when undercover videos surfaced showing its employees bending over backwards to counsel clients to break the law. In the videos conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe portrayed a pimp and Hannah Giles portrayed a prostitute.

David Lagstein, ACORN’s lead organizer in San Diego, was recorded telling a group that Brown is a “political animal” and that “certainly every bit of communication we have had with them [Brown's office] has suggested that the fault will be found with the people that did the [hidden-camera prostitution sting] video — not with ACORN.”

It is illegal in California to secretly record people without their consent.

Lagstein made the comments, first reported by BigGovernment.com, at a Democratic gathering on Oct. 15. Brown aides also secretly recorded phone conversations with journalists. “We’ll see if Brown believes the law applies to his staff as well as the young filmmakers,” BigGovernment.com wonders.

Retired Judge Andrew Napolitano told Glenn Beck on his TV show that there should be an investigation into Lagstein’s comments. Although Brown is elected, as opposed to being appointed by the governor, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is allowed to investigate this budding scandal and he should do so, Napolitano said.

Meanwhile, ACORN is suing the U.S. government to have federal funding to it restored.

The lawsuit was filed with the assistance of the allegedly terrorist-funded Center for Constitutional Rights.

ACORN claims the congressionally approved cutoff of federal funding that expires Dec. 18 violates the Constitution’s prohibition on bills of attainder, along with ACORN’s free speech and due process rights.

“Poor ACORN,” said Beck.
