WTF?!?!?!?!?! I am a Saudi and what I read from this article is almost possible only in fiction stories. Why would someone write such a thing?!!! To be honest, you people should mind your own business (which doesn't mean that what's mentioned is true) and think about it, why don't we ask you Americans about your laws and capitalism rules which don't serve the poor!!! I find when the finger is pointed at Saudi they try to deflect attention by pointing the finger somewhere else. does the crime in America justify the abuses in Saudi Arabia? I say no……

I am not a mutawa and i don't spote them, but the fact is that this is not the barberic law, yah some persons are barberic i except that but say me one thing how many crimes in saudia arabia and how many crimes in USA if you can calculate them you get your answer.In this world you know which is most crime country yeah it is USA where there is Democracy , modernization, technology in every minute some many rapes and and so many bank robbery done etc.see this country how many rapes done and how many robbery done ?

The right to vote does not automatically equal democracy. A democracy is much more than just voting. Democracy in the Middleast and South America? Are you high? Those people reg the elections all the time.
eg. Iran & hunduras. Real Democracy does not exist in any of those countries. Except in Israel and perhaps Turkey. Iraq is still questionable. Further more, Muslims voting in groups like hamas and hezbullah says more about the Ummah than it does about anything else.

You didn't read the book did you? You need new talking points. People who read don't even begin to take you seriously. If you think that is the reason we are friends with Saudi Arabia is “we prefer other people to suffer under dictatorships”( mind you this relationship is not SOLID) you defy all history. Not to mention, have completely forgotten what Bush did to Saddam. ( I do recall it was the Liberals who wanted to keep that dictator in power not Bush.) Back to the drawling board.

If you're so unhappy with the actual results of Muslims choosing their own leaders in elections (a process no worse than in most Western nations, at least in theory) you should have protested when Bush tried to impose it in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But I'd have guessed you prefer the peoples of the Middle East to be governed by brutal dictators. The two friendliest of these to us are about the two worst, Mubarak (81 years old) and King Abdullah (85 years old).

And you can't deny the fact that we hate democracies in the MIddle East (as in South America)! We threaten or attack every one in the region.

I worked as a senior editor at the Riyadh Daily for 14 years. I have researhed the mutawas and their atrocities. They were terrible guys. Their actions reminds me of the middle ages. I have worked in Saudi Arabia for 14 years as a senior editor with Riyadh Daily. I investiaged and found out a lot about the mutawas ( religious police) and their tyranny. There are a terrible lot have brought back the middle ages. All that is contained in a book by me that was released in India last month. Titled Mutawas: Saudi Arabia Dreaded Religious Police, it has been published by Turtle Books, an imprint of Zen Publications, Mumbai ( www.zen publications.com).

this half is well known, but most Americans do not know that lots of Arab money go to liberal universities and to mosques that spew anti-democratic discourses.
Mosques are centers used by extremists Imams to induce youngs Muslims to revolt againt democracies in the EU and USA.

Why is America still allied with Saudi Arabia? To make a long story short: oil. But there are other reasons. The Saudis have large investments in the United States – over a trillion dollars. Not only that they control the Seven Sisters and with that have control over derivative industries. The defense industry is dependent upon orders from Saudi Arabia. The Saudis dispense oodles of money to the universities, mosques. They also have large investments in the communications industry. l So that's why. It is most definitely not their good looks.

Not necessarily, the so called “elite” are the board members and owners of major corporations like Becthel, Halliburton, AOL Time Warner, Exxon Mobil, etc… in the end, the say what goes and doesn't go when it comes to U.S. foreign policy, to think differently is incredibly naive.

To claim that because one is well educated, is immediately a part of “the elite” is pretty short sighted, a good education without any monetary power means nothing in this country.

The people lobbying Congress for continued ties to Saudi Arabia are not people with Social Science PHD's, it's the people with an interest in oil, development and investment firms.
