From the Pen of David Horowitz: October 8, 2009

Americans did not want the McCain-Feingold Act, but we got it anyway. We did not want the Motor-Voter law, but now we live with its results. We did not ask for a Global War on Poverty, yet we are getting one all the same. This is a foretaste of life under Shadow Party rule. Some readers may have noted in Time magazine’s headline, “How to End Poverty” an eerie echo of the title Cloward and Piven gave to their 1966 article “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty.” The philosopher George Santayana wrote in 1905, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” The full cost, in blood, treasure and broken lives, of Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty has yet to be tallied. The version which George Soros, Kofi Annan and Jeffrey Sachs are now readying for us will likely defy all efforts at quantification.
