Israel has deliberately destroyed every record made by the Palestinians, with particular attention to police stations and prisons, systematically bombed flat so they cannot control either militancy or crime.

And this campaign has also always targeted every kind of administration, first taking out the Town Halls before the ethnic cleansing of 1948. There was no excuse then, it was pure terorrism, just as its pure terrorism now.

History is always, to a certain extent, propaganda. This is because the historian cannot help but bring his worldview into any account of an historical event. Hopefully, he will be as objective as humanly possible. All too often, however, history is altered, based solely upon the beliefs … which have no place in history … of the author.

1) There never was a Palestinian state or a Palestinian nation. There are no Palestinian people, per se. Rather, these are Arabs living in a region that historically has been called many things, including "Palestine."

2) Israel did not go to war against a Palestinian state and occupy its land. Rather, Israel was attacked by six Arab countries at once. She defended herself, defeated her attackers, and won the so-called territories, not from the Palestinians, but from Jordan and Egypt.

3) Jerusalem was never the capital of any state but Israel. It was certainly never the capital of a country that never existed. Why should the Palestinians get any part of it? Because they want it? Because they have terrorists?

4) Jerusalem, under the current Israeli control, is a free and open city. Israel, as a democracy, guarantees freedom of religion within its borders. Contrast this fact with areas that have come under Palestinian occupation. What percentage of Christians have left in recent years because they cannot stand the harassment and persecution?

Rashid Khalidi does not tell, or perhaps know, the history of the Arabs he calls "Palestinians." "Palestinian" was synonymous with "Jew" from the time that the Roman Emperor Hadrian changed the name of Judea to Palestina in 135 A.D., after defeating the last Jewish rebellion under Bar Kokhba (and outlawed Judaism). "Palestine" then became synonymous with "land of the Jews" or "the Holy Land", which is why the Zionists wanted the "Palestine Mandate" and Great Britain was awarded the "Palestine Mandate" as homeland for the Jews.
Calling Arabs who live in the historic land of the Jews "Palestinians," with the history rewrite of their non-existent "Palestinian" history – which should be part of Arab history – is the effect of Soviet propaganda; the Soviet Union with Gamal Nasser founded the "Palestine Liberation Organization" in Cairo in 1964.
