David Horowitz and a Guided Tour of the “Ron Paul Revolutionary” Mind

On Thursday, February 11, Glenn Beck exposed Texas Gubernatorial Candidate, Debra Medina, as a 9-11 Truther.

Glenn Beck:

“Do you believe the government was any way involved with the bringing down of the World Trade Centers on 9/11?”

Debra Medina:

“I don’t, I don’t have all the evidence there, Glenn. So I don’t I’m not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard. There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all of the evidence there. So I’ve not taken a position on that.”

Hearing that the mental jury of the would-be Governor of Texas was still out, Beck sent Medina packing. Her supporters massed in cyber-mobdom to howl, “Single- issue foul! Neo-con Set-up!” to no avail. Post-interview polls indicate that Texans grasp that Medina’s entertaining 9-11 Myths indicates a lack of reason- a faculty required to govern the second largest state in the Union.

Medina’s political activities include working with Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidential Campaign. Her political convictions earned her an interview by high-priest of paranoid Libertarianism, Alex Jones. Medina’s response to Beck and her post-interview retraction were a duplicitous attempt to simultaneously please the Tea Party and the Tea Pauly.

Clashes between Ron Paul Revolutionaries and “we mindless pawns of our NWO masters” have echoed in the virtual halls of NewsReal. Few subjects provoke comparable passion and acrimony. Why? The answer is illustrated by Medina’s dissimulation about her true ideological orientation, the iceberg of which her “Truther Faith” is but the tip. Beneath its exhortation to “return to the Constitutional Republic the Founders intended,” the Ron Paul Revolution is animated by the ideological reflexes that drive Leftist radicals. We push-back against the creed of the Paulists because its consequences hardly differ from those of the Leftist agenda we normally confront.

I assert such a similarity after providentially finding a profound analysis, a veritable blueprint of the Paulist mind, provided by David Horowitz in Why the Left (and Timothy Burke) Can’t Handle the Truth. Mr. Horowitz designates the two fundamental dispositions of the Leftist mentality – utopianism and a nihilistic ambition to destroy the Capitalist West.

Horowitz explains:

“The left’s “original sin” is utopianism… It is the left’s utopianism that has produced its “anti-Western predispositions”… the belief in an alternate world to replace the one into which he has been born.

Those identifying themselves as Constitutional Republicans, as did Medina, dream of a profoundly transformed America. In this “Constitutional Utopia,” free from the “military-industrial complex,” America would no longer be controlled by greedy corporations and global bankers who plunder the world. Freedom fighters everywhere “would no longer be terrorists since America wouldn’t be an occupier.” We would withdraw to pristine isolationism, a Daniel Boone wilderness with virtually no government involvement in our lives. Of course, initial massive government regulation would be needed to bring about the country’s liberation from the Big Corporations now enslaving us. Once the people are free from the Military-Industrial neo-cons, power would be returned to the small businesses and individuals.

Nihilism is the second element of the Leftist mind-set, it is the bitter hatred for any manifestation of American world intervention. Withdrawal of American military influence is a common theme for the Drs. Paul and sympathizers.

Horowitz points out:

“Today the Left is still divided over its plans for the future, but these plans pale into insignificance in the face of its real passion which is its nihilistic antagonism towards the United States the metropolis at the center of the global capitalist system, and Israel, its imperialist pawn in the Muslim world. The left’s overweening hatred of global capitalism – “globalization” – which is its energizing force, explains how it can make alliances with Islamic fundamentalists who share the same enemy.”

“In the section of Unholy Alliance called The Mind of the Left, I show how this psychological trope distorts and energizes the vision of leftists across the political spectrum…I explain how the left’s religious need for a social redemption overcomes such differences and forges the coalition which includes…Islamofascists as well. This coalition is most obvious and visible in the global crusade of Islamist fundamentalists and secular leftists to produce a second Holocaust of the Jews in the Middle East.”

Mr. Horowitz set out to explain why disparate Leftists put aside conflicting political agendas to unite against the War in Iraq. He could easily extend the boundaries to include those following the Ron Paul Revolution. Dr. Rand Paul spoke of forming a coalition with the Left to “defeat the Military-Industrial Complex,” a move that would eliminate America’s presence in the Middle-East, contributing as effectively as the Left to the Holocaust of which Mr. Horowitz wrote.

I think the Glenn Beck interview of Debra Medina exposed Beck as a shill, and also raises another question. What is acceptable for a candidate for public office to believe regarding 9-11? Are all candidates required to agree with the 9-11 Commission Report? That would seem to be asking a lot, especially considering what the Commissioners themselves have said about the 9-11 Commisssion:

  3. Dave Worthington says:

Why should we listen to someone like David Horowitz, shill for Israel? You didn't predict the banking burst, you didn't tell us not to go into Iraq, you merely serve your neocon/zionist masters by trying to tie Ron Paul to extremists groups in order to keep him on the fringe. We see through your dirty tricks. Those protesters were probably plants too.

  4. badaboo says:

Ron Paul need not be "tied " to extremists ……he embraced the Trufers " for whatever reason , he cast his lot with them and has made no attem,pt whatsoever to distance himself from them .
80% of the muslim world says Bin Laden's been framed , they infer iot was Bush ,the Jews , Zionist plots , and it goes on .We should rub islams nose in the fact that 9/11 is the result of their own teachings , idiots like Paul give them the wrigglr room they need to continue to decieve . Much can be said for the incompetence and the complacensy that allowed 19 serial killers with boxcutters to accomplish what they did. The fact that civilised people will always underestimate savagry of barbarians played a role too , as no one thought that the planes would be intention ally crashed . Anyone who has doubts as to WQHO did this is an IDIOT .And anyone who spouts it , is a TRAITOR .

  5. badaboo says:

…and I dont care if some idiots think Ron Paul is the best thing since sliced bread , his position on 9/11 makes him a TRAITOR .
Unfortunately Horowitz "fits " Paul into his statements on nebulus conspiracies ,trying to establish a connection with the Left , for the sake of his own political agenda , while seemingly minimizing the main reasons why Paul should be treated as a TRAITOR .

  6. badaboo says:

And apparently there sre some posters here who either haven't read the 9/11 Commission report , or have cherry pickeds portions of it , but like to quote it .
Well the conclusion reached as to WHO committed tyhe act was confirmed without question by the Commission , 19 muslims under the order of Bin laden …which has in fact been admitted by bin Laden himself , yet these TRUFER idiots and traitors continue to expectorate their traitorous drivel .

A cursory reading identifies several fallacies: Ad Hominem, Appeal to Emotion, Appeal to Fear, Appeal to Ridicule, Begging the Question, Burden of Proof, Circumstantial Ad Hominem, Guilt By Association, Hasty Generalization, Questionable Cause, Special Pleading, and last, but not least, as super-gargantuan Straw Man. It's fun looking at this stuff, but I can't do it on a full stomach. Conversely, one of the most rational thinkers in modern times is Ron Paul

    • badaboo says:

Yea and lucky for the rest of the country , the fool Ron Paul has marginalized himself without any outside help .
      If he's a trufer , he's a traitor .
Go to any islamic blog , they all love him . As for the Tea party , just a few more groups like the Birchers and trufers , and a few more speeches like Tancredo's "test for voting " and Farrah's theocracy America , and they'll be driving off the same cliff as Paul

That's IMHO. You don't like this one, you'll have to get one of your own.

Your talking points are always what's being floated around in the echo chamber.

The MSM is dying and world wide people laugh and scoff and look upon you with distain.

  14. Ben says:

I'm sensing the persecution complex of the blind, Ron Paul true-believer here. Any criticism of their leader is proof that you're trying to keep a good man down.

Note to Ron Paul supporters: Ron Paul voted FOR the war in Afghanistan, despite the fact that it was not declared by Congress. HYPOCRITE. Ron Paul is the pork barrel KING of the Republican Party, always making sure to bring home gobs of money to his district in the form of unconstitutional projects. He has NOT avoided the taint of corporate welfare, he's sucking at the teet of the state just like everyone else. He'd be great with a milk mustache in a 'Got Milk?' commercial. Better than in Congress.

  15. yurfreind says:

    Horowitz,

911 was an inside job so everything you said is B.S.

  16. maverick muse says:

I was a Fred Thompson supporter last POTUS campaign, if that matters for those who want to "qualify" my opinion. I am a direct descendant of one of the original organizers of Texas before, during and after the revolution from Mexico having served under Sam Houston, and am also a 5th generation Arizonan who grew up while Sen. Hayden still served Arizona in Washington along with Goldwater, and witnessed Goldwater's POTUS campaign in grade school, and Nixon's Kissinger promise to end the Vietnam War with honor, his decision to make China our favored trade nation, and his resignation after re-election. It would take a blind person to not recognize that our government has bloated bureaucracy completely disproportionately, to the point that the DHS is and remains an unconstitutional establishment.

Rep. Ron Paul represents his constituents and does well enough holding to his strict Libertarian values. There is no shame in that, and there is no threat from a Libertarian to either of the major parties so long as the Libertarian is not POTUS. It takes the Libertarian Party to hold onto our Constitutional Governance as the Founding Fathers established for us. The GOP became neoconservative since Kissinger, at the same point that the DNC became the radical Marxists behind the scenes. The independents aka Tea Party know better than to accept propaganda from anyone. Approach every "report" with further research for validity.

  17. gpcase says:

The libertarian-conservative-traditionalist movement that seeks to move the GOP establishment to the right is largely united on returning to a free market but divided over foreign policy and social issues. How this "restoration to founding principles" movement handles this potential schism may well determine the fate of the nation.

Ask yourselves this: are any of the three branches of the movement better off siding with the left and following them down the Road to Serfdom? Or are they better off with the conservative base where policy can be influenced from within?

Don't allow the movement to be divided – its too important. As Ben Franklin once said: "either we all hang together, or we'll all surely hang separately."

  18. gpcase says:

Regarding 9/11. It seems to me that the Truthers have worked serious fallacies into your arguments. Al Qaeda did fly those hijacked planes into the buildings. How do I know? I saw it on TV with everyone else. Can buildings collapse when their structural integrity is compromised by burning jet fuel? The answer is yes. Just because something is plausible is not in itself proof. Did the government cover up information? Yes, but for what purpose? If it was an inside job, you'll have to prove how Muslim radicals were either contracted on behalf of Uncle Sam and have kept it quiet ever since, despite such a story being in their interest to make public or prove how the military-industrial complex knew the exact time, place and manner of the attack and kept it quiet. You would be placing too much faith in bureaucracies to be that perfect and that sinister. Could it be that our air defenses are like Swiss cheese and they don't wish to devulge this publicly, and thus the cover-up? I've found that most often its the simplest explanation that's the right one.

I support ron paul on almost everything except one issue I entirely disagree with him on foergin policy. I've read to many books on our enemies abroad to know doing nothing is just stupid. Even obama figured that much out.
