Mexico Drug War Spills into U.S.

Less than a month later, her fear became true. The “Hezbollah-like” sophistication of the car bomb is shocking, but it should not be surprising. Experts have warned of such an alliance for years. In an article last month, the drug gangs’ ties to terrorist groups were explored in detail. The terrorist group named the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, often referred to as the FARC, is in business with the cartels. Michael Braun, a former Drug Enforcement Agency chief of operations, said that Hezbollah was using “the same criminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartels.” Humberto Fontova has also reported on the cartels’ ties to Cuban officials.

Over 25,000 people have died in Mexico’s drug war since the strife erupted into a war three and a half years ago, with the number of casualties increasing each year. The death toll in Ciudad Juarez has already surpassed the entire number for last year. The city now has more murders than Baghdad. Recently in Monterrey, a mass grave of over 50 people was discovered.

“The Mexican drug war is evolving into an open insurrection. The cartels are purchasing high-powered weapons all over the world. The edge in weaponry is shifting towards the cartels.” Larry Martines, the director of the Nevada Department of Homeland Security in 2007, told FrontPage.

“If the U.S.A. does not increase assistance via military resources, funding, advisors, plus most importantly, expanded intelligence gathering technology, we might very well end up with a Narco-Republic on our southern border….We do not have much time left,” he said.

The deteriorating security situation caused alarm at the Joint Forces Command last year, which warned that Mexico and Pakistan were the two countries most at risk of “rapid and sudden collapse.” Despite this warning, some officials tried to downplay the crisis. Last March, then-Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair said that “Mexico is in no danger of becoming a failed state.” Senator John Kerry said “I am troubled by suggestions from some quarters that Mexico is in imminent danger of becoming a failed state. Mexico is a functional democracy with a vibrant and open economy.”

The escalating drug war in Mexico makes it clear that the U.S. cannot be safe without adequate border security. The increasingly violent nature of the drug cartels, coupled with their ties to terrorist groups, make them a distinct threat to the homeland. Americans must force their elected officials to place a higher priority on protecting the nation than trying to score political points with the immigration issue.

Bunch o' racists y'all are! These unlicensed pharamacutical distributors as well as the underground HR Placement Directors make up the fabric of the undocumented immigrants.

  2. 1spiralman says:

if obama refuses to protect our citizens on the border then thats one more reason to add to many for his impeachment. its not too early to start calling your congressman and senators demandind this. the excuse that its impossible to secure the border doesn't cut it especially coming from a president who thinks so highly of himself.

Kafir, do you believe these people complaining!?! After all, the Cartels are being inclusive by virtue of them hosting the Hezzbolah folks. We can learn from them. Look how tolerant and multi-cultural they are!
By the way, check out what I found "on the books" as part of the FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS.
"Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to 8 USC § 1304. Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than 30 days, or both."

Arizona rightly is demanding that the Feds do their constitutional job, but Texas has the most violence directly across the border.
Governor Perry is demanding a chance to meet Obama while he is here fund raising.
The following article appeared in the Fort Worth Star Telegram Sunday.

"Obama's administration has announced that it will send 1,200 Guard troops to the four states bordering Mexico beginning next Sunday. Texas, which has more than 60 percent of the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border, will get 20 percent of the allocation, or 250 troops. The Texas allocation equates to one troop for every five miles of the state's border with Mexico…
"Under President George W. Bush, 6,000 Guard troops were deployed in all four border states to help the Border Patrol during ramped-up efforts to combat illegal immigration from 2006 to 2008. Known as Operation Jump Start, the deployment included 3,000 Guard personnel assigned to Texas, virtually all from units in the Lone Star State."

Even Bill White, Dem. candidate for govenor, disapproves:
"Immigration policy and border security are responsibilities of the federal government, and they're failing us," said Katy Bacon, a spokeswoman for White. "The National Guard troops are not an adequate or long-term solution — they're only a Band-Aid."

The anti-American actions of La Raza Unida have not been adequately reported on for decades. We are about to reap very bitter fruit from the political games that have played out in our border states. True HIspanic Americans have been terrorized into being quiet, and both parties have been silenced, afraid to alienate such a large demographic. This will only get uglier.

Put me in charge. This is an invasion. The solution is shoot to kill the invaders.

  8. blotto says:

What is it that Emamuel said about a crisis. This administration is letting this get to a boil and when some Americans are killed on our soil then he will enforce martial law on us-the US. He, the Dems and progressives need the illegal vote so it is Americans and America who will suffer.

I believe Obmama wants Mexico to be able to regain territory in the US in exchange for votes and power.

It will ultimately take states and the 10th Amendment to come to terms with this invasion.

  9. glpage says:

Obama swore to uphold the law and protect the Constitution. He is doing neither. I think a Supreme Court justice back when said that amounts to high crime and misdemeanor.

guys this story is a fkn hoax man, and even if they get here they will not survive theyd be shutdown and destroyed for all the shit theyve done to the mexican people. USA!

This guy really tells the inside story of how cancer spreads. He's seen it all. What's interesting is that he moved from L.A., calling the place a lost cause, and moved to Arizona! He says Arizona is 20 years away from the infection that California has now.

Los Angeles, CA. According to 33 year veteran gang specialist and retired L.A. Sheriff's Sergeant Richard Valdemar, Mexican drug cartels have infiltrated city councils and political campaigns in many small cities in Los Angeles County.

  13. J Michels says:

come on people, why is there no mention of the failed prohibition laws which are making this bloody war inevitable?! If you want border security to improve, get rid of some of your unenforceable laws so that you can devote more resources to tasks that can actually be achieved. You don't have to condone drug use, but if we cannot admit that prohibition is a horribly failed policy then the U.S. will never recover from this 'recession.'

Call your local, state and federal representatives–tell them to listen to the folks from Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (www.leap.cc) There are solutions to the drug war that don't involve escalating a brutal war which we have absolutely no money to finance..

    • AG says:

It's the best of the bad options. We can still do drug testing in the workplace and treat drugged driving like drunk driving. Alcohol has killed more people, through disease and violence, than pot every will. Booze kills marriages and causes domestic violence against kids. Potheads can only munch and nap.

One thing I don't see in hispanic areas are panhandlers or pot-smoking Mexicans. When they hang around together on street corners, they don't want handouts – they want you to give them a job! Cocaine and pot addiction is not a problem in Mexico. Americans will likewise get it out of our system, along with the now-spreading cancer. Legalization will lead to remission. It's better than turning America into a corruption magnet.

  14. mike says:

Cant Gov. Perry call up national guard units and deploy them at his border? They need to go fully armed for conflict and secure soverign Texas territory. Dont wait for the kenyan in the WHITE HOUSE,. he wont send the help.

    • AwakeinTexas says:

From the F.W. Star Telegram article, cited above:
"Federal officials have reportedly said that states that want more troops may have them, as long as they pick up the tab for the additions.

Perry noted in his letter to Obama that the Texas Legislature has already dedicated more than $200 million in recent years to border security. He also repeated his request for 1,000 Guard troops.

"This is a federal responsibility, and it shouldn't fall on the backs of Texans to pick up the tab and responsibility for security on the border," Cesinger said. "We don't think it's unreasonable to ask the federal government to pay for something that's their responsibility in the first place."

While we're on the subject of sending troops to the four United States Borders….

I want to say that the men and woman being sent to Costa Rica to protect their borders (as of July 6th) is 7,000 to 14,000….
Costa Rica has granted the U.S. military a six-month window to bring Marines, five planes and 46 warships into its territory to help stem the flow of drugs northward. ome Costa Rican legislators voiced concern about the authorization, saying it gives the United States a "blank check" to use its territory and threatens the nation's sovereignty.

According to a letter from Costa Rican Public Security Minister Jose Maria Tijerino, specific requests to dock or unload U.S. military ships must be submitted to the country one month in advance.

The permission was granted by a 31-8 vote of the Legislative Assembly and allows the United States to use the country's territory through Dec. 31.

I am against taxpayer $ being spent to fight drug wars outside the United States….
In my heart I feel there is another motive; and I don't think it's about the banana laborers going on strike!

  16. Seek says:

It is time to recognize that Mexican drug cartels are a mortal enemy every bit as devious as Islamic radicals. We must mobilize every ounce of resources to arrest and deport the guilty.

As a long-term strategy, we should work to: achieve birth control in Mexico and here in Mexican-American communities; lower domestic demand for drugs (heavily driven, by the way, by Mexican ethnics in our own country); interdict suppliers coming through our borders; severely restrict all Mexican immigration; and fight any attempt at amnesty.

only the united will survive. The man from Kenya, NObama , I pray will
get the LINCOLN treatment. One shot to the head will save many to fight another day.
Many will disappear as in ciudad juarez. Today 20 people ,daily are filling up the
mystery holes in Mexican. Non documents have more rights than US CITIZENS.
May be another day will the revolution begin. Not today, most US people lack simple
guns or AMMO to self defense. NARCOS from Mexico have already taken ranches, land and homes in TEXAS. Look for US federal signs, stay our to live one day more.
