We hear a lot about how wonderful it is that the Canadians or the British or the Swedes get free medical treatment because the government runs the system. But we don’t hear much about the quality of that medical care.
We don’t hear about more than 4,000 expectant mothers who gave birth inside a hospital, but not in the maternity ward, in Britain in just one year.
They had their babies in hallways, bathrooms and even elevators.
British newspapers have for years carried stories about the neglect of patients under the National Health Service, of which this is just one. When nurses don’t get around to taking a pregnant woman to the maternity ward in time, the baby doesn’t wait.
But the American media don’t tell you about such things when they are gushing over the wonders of “universal health care” that will “bring down the cost of medical care.”
Instead, the media spin is that various countries with government-run medical systems have life expectancies that are as long as ours, or longer. That is very clever as media spin, if you don’t bother to stop and think about it.
Author Sally Pipes did bother to stop and think about it in her book, “The Truth About ObamaCare.” She points out that medical care is just one of the factors in life expectancy.
She cites a study by Professors Ohsfeldt and Schneider at the University of Iowa, which shows that, if you leave out people who are victims of homicide or who die in automobile accidents, Americans live longer than people in any other Western country.
Doctors do not prevent homicides or car crashes. In the things that doctors can affect, such as the survival rates of cancer patients, the United States leads the world.
Americans get the latest pharmaceutical drugs, sometimes years before those drugs are available to people in Britain or in other countries where the government runs the medical system. Why? Because the latest drugs cost more and it is cheaper to let people die.
The media have often said that we have higher infant mortality rates than other countries with government medical care systems. But we count every baby that dies and other countries do not. If the media don’t tell you that, so much the better for ObamaCare.
But is life and death something to play spin games about?
Even if we can repeal this piece of crap the progressives will keep pushing and pushing tirelessly for it, but in pieces. Little pieces won't be as noticeable being shoved down our throat as these big chunks. We must get some thinking, common sense people in our government instead of these collective social engineers that think they are so much better than we are that they didn't pass the bill so that they would be forced to use it. It says in our constitution that congress shall pass no bill that congress doesn't have to abide by. Well, I guess they know what crap they are dumping on us since they won't have anything to do with it themselves. That alone should tell you all you need to know.
The Canadian politician who came to the States when he could have had the Canadian medical care? What does that tell you?
When I lived in Washington state the waiting rooms in doctors offices always had Canadians who drove down and preferred to pay instead of partake of the free medical care in their own country. They would just roll their eyes and shake their heads.
If it was at all possible to impeach Mr. Crap himself I think we should do it. He has run this country like he was the dictator of a third world country, treating us as though we were all his inferiors. I pray to God that we never see anything like him again. We must undo all of his evil work and put back the America that was the greatest, most admired nation on this planet.

I have health insurance through my last job, but am now paying almost $100 more a year since Obamacare and furthermore, dental work has drastically gone up to the point where it is better to have your tooth pulled for $100 than have major work for the down payment on a car…those are some of the immediate consequences of Obamacare.

Re doctors and homicides:
In an odd way doctors DO prevent homicides. They treat people who have been shot or wounded in some other way. One of the reasons homicide rates in the US have declined is that more violent assaults are treated successfully now than in the past. In these cases we have not a homicide but assaut with intent to kill or something like that.
Doctors don't stop the behavior that can lead to homicide, but they do have an impact on the results of the attacks.
Sowell's arguments are correct, but by ignoring successful treatment of victims of assaults he understates his case.

Without any regard for the health care act President Obama, Mrs. Nancy Pelosi, and Senator Harry Reid pushed through the Democratic controlled Hose and Senate, all these people are disgraceful for approving of a bill of over 2000 pages which none had read through. No bill of such a length should have been introduced, let alone passed.
