A Republican Senate Sweep?

Posted by Bio ↓ on Sep 2nd, 2010 Comments ↓

It gets tiresome hearing the conventional wisdom say that the Democrats will likely keep control of the Senate. Far from it.

To gain control, Republicans must win 10 new seats. An analysis of the latest polling data suggests that Republicans currently hold the lead in eight pick-up states: Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wisconsin, Washington state, Arkansas, Delaware, North Dakota and Indiana. In a ninth, Illinois, the candidates are tied, and in the 10th — Nevada — Harry Reid is ahead by only one point. And, for insurance, Barbara Boxer in California and Kirsten Gillibrand in New York are both below 50 percent of the vote. In Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal is only at 50 percent. That’s a potential pickup of 13 seats and a likely gain of at least 10 (enough for a majority).

Any incumbent who is running at less than 50 percent of the vote is in serious trouble. It means that a majority of the voters have decided not to vote for him or her. (Asked if you are likely to be married to the same person next year, a vote of “undecided” does not bode well for your marriage.)

So here are the numbers:

Aug. 27 polls

Nevada: Reid (D) 45, Sharon Angle (R) 44 (Mason Dixon)

With Reid this far under 50 percent, Angle is likely to win

Aug. 26 polls

Florida (currently Republican): Marco Rubio (R) 40, Charlie Crist (I) 30, Kendrick Meek (D) 21 (Rasmussen)

So much for Crist!

Pennsylvania: Pat Toomey 40 (R), Joe Sestak (D) 31 (Franklin-Marshall)

high time the islamic apologists and dumb democrates are voted out of power from the us senate!!

If only we could figure out how to rid NYS of the capo chuckles schumer. He's an embarassment. A call to his office confirmed that chuck is ok with george soros former job of collecting property from condemned Jews….in fact georgie said it made him what he is today. When questioned on soros and his past, I was told that should the oppertunity arise again, that chuck would love that job. He'd be good at it too!! At least we have a shot at his sock puppet, kirstin.

To gain the lost Jewsish votes, chuck would have no problem siding with the islamists on the terrorist supporting GZm, and he'll take terrorist supporters money too. I understand he supports cair now, and was seen leaving brave ahmed's office rubbing his fanny.

I should have had my glasses on when I "penned" my last post……lotsa fat fingers in there….

You need to get some one of character, and of dignity and of honor to run next time he is up for re-election, and the sooner you find some one in the district the better.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, but at least the dems took the mask off for everyone to see. I actually think this last couple of years have been good. It awakened the people and now all we have to do is reverse 30 years of liberal politics and republican duplicity.

What a legacy, Obama may be the first president to have all his legislative "victories" reversed, while still in office.

"What a legacy, Obama may be the first president to have all his legislative "victories" reversed, while still in office." What a delicious thought!! Pray that it comes true.

  4. Rob says:

While I'm more confident about how Republicans, Independents, and converted Democrats will cast their votes, I'm not so confident about how those votes will be counted. I certainly hope that the Conservatives will have plenty of people and "eyes" on the ground—and all about–to keep the Democratic/Liberal hijinks to at least a minimum!

    • Jay says:

An excellent point! To paraphrase Stalin: It doesn't matter how many people vote – only who does the counting. Being from Minnesota, where Al Franken cheated his way to a Senate seat makes me particularly wary of this all too common M.O. of the dems.

    • Guest says:

Good points. I can easily visualize SUV's already stuffed with "uncounted" ballots for the various Dem candidates. These will be "discovered" as needed after the election and used to reverse the results a la Al Franken. The Dem's have been doing this crap for decades. They exist only for political power. They're sick.

  5. TommyBoy52 says:

I predict, that if all goes according to what I'm reading about Republican victories in November, Obama will be the first President to go insane while still in office.

  6. Bill says:

If Republicans win, they will have their work cut out for them. They'd better perform well, and earn themselves back into the good graces of the 40% of the country that calls themselves 'conservative,' and the independents, too. Republicans were ousted in 2006 and 2008 for behaving like Democrats. They had better change their ways, or suffer the same disgust from the voters again. We are watching.

  7. Phillip says:

Get rid of the Kaffir…they cause problems, they are lazy, they enjoy the gravy train and they want it all on gilt edged crockery.
Sounds bad, but he same problem exists in South Africa where they are the majority; unlike America where even the head of state ccan be brought tto book, in South Africa
though such provision is made in the constitiution any criticism of the govt or other civil servant down the line to the domestic worker is racist…
Obama is an African Kaffir on the gravy train!!!

  8. turbantorpedo says:

    Hello America,

A Senate GOP grand sweep would be the answer to my daily prayers, that God will be with us when we leave the dark back into the light.

It is imperitive we change directions, going back to more foundational principled times if we are to survive as a nation.

I know in my heart, the Glenn Beck 8.28 Restoring Honor rally confirmed it that Christ's remnant is growing by leaps and bounds and we want out of the darkness.

Get out the vote in November as if your life depended on it . . . it does . . . repeal of ObamaCare, remember.

My greatest fear is the sabotaging of the votes. We know Acorn and all kinds of under the table crap went on to put Obammmmer in. The people should have kept their mouth shut about the victory that may come for we give this devil of liberal minds more determination to cheat…..CHEAT!!!!!!!!!!!! They lie to get elected so why not cheat to get their people in? We better pray for some kind of wave of fear about being discovered cheating..oh wait we can't hope for that …they let those thugs get away with standing at election spots shaking sticks. Hmmm…let us really pray this could be the end of his addiction to spending money we don't have you know who I mean…the mentally ill Prez…………who can't even talk without a prompter ….because? Many reasons ! First he is trying to remember constantly who has funded him, second all the Muslims he wants to "please", third , he really is not that smart as they tried to market him…why we don't see his grades..
he is a ACA ….WOUNDED FATHER COMPLEX .Messiah Complex…narcissism…need to be watched as much as possible to believe he exists……oh my ..the list is too long…he is a walking dead spiritually….

  10. Anna says:

I think the collective may take a great leap of awareness because of this group of thugs who have tried to destroy our liberties and install a government that has proven to fail many times before. We are going to learn much more than the fodder the MSM pitches now with the internet about the barbarians who call themselves a peaceful "religion". Maybe 10 % of women are peace loving out of fear from living with the misogynists. We can stop this only by putting the light on the real truth of these lost people. Let them go. Stop them from coming here. Geez we must close our gates for we cannot take care of our own now.
Praise the ones here that speak the truth and endanger their saftety from these folks who love to kill.

  11. Wesley69 says:

Gaining the Senate would be fantastic, but I'll settle for the House in Republican hands. Bills to become law must pass both houses in identical form, so no more radical policies, Mr. Obama. Investigations of the Executive, particularly the Czars, the Stimulus, Financial Reform, defunding ObamaCare, one House can do this. Obama has the veto power and he can only be overridden with a two-thirds vote of BOTH houses, which means even if the Republicans did get majorities in both Houses, they will not have the votes to override. (67-Senate 290 – House)
    (Current 59 -Dem 41 Rep S 257 -Dem 178 Rep H)

Only 37 seats are up for reelection in the Senate. In the House, all 435 seats are up for reelection As you can see the Senate will be tough, but do able.

  12. 911Infidel says:

Can't discount the shenanigans of the morphed (renamed) ACORN orgs influencing votes, voting two or three times, dead people voting, preventing the absentee votes from the military from being counted, and the stupidity shown by Americans in 2008.

I think a better bet is that Republicans sweep the House, and gain 8 or 9 seats in the Senate.

  13. Claire Solt says:

If you are concerned about voter fraud, sign up to be aq poll watcher on election day. If you can't find such aqn effort, staart one yourself. That's what we did in FL after the 2000 recount. 600 Republican poll watchers showed uuuup at polling places to discourage wrongdoing. We were backed uup by lawyers who we could call.

  14. Richard Weinberg says:

I would seem that reverend Wright's curse, "…God damn America.." has come to pass. We HAVE been cursed, cursed with Obama.

  15. Richard Weinberg says:

Oops. The first word in the previous post should be It not I.

  16. Reason_For_Life says:

I'm starting to think that my old schoolmate from Stuyvesant HS, Dick Morris, has lost his mind. With Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Lindsay Graham, Scott Brown and Orrin Hatch the Republicans would need at least 15 seats to have control not 10, that is, if they want to actually slash spending, cut taxes and deregulate.

If their "majority" consists of the clowns listed above all you can expect are new versions of "No Child Left Behind", another round of TARP or maybe "Stimulus 2 The Sequel".

The "R" after the name is meaningless if the letter that best describes them is "P" as in "Progressive".

Please don't bother to mention their voting records and how they vote 75% or 80% with the Republicans. They always go over to the Dems when the votes are close.

I guess for Morris it will always be party before principle. He ran Gerald Nadler's campaign for high school president 47 years ago and Nadler was even creepier then than he is now.

    • Elize Nayden B. says:

You may not agree with Republicans and their RINO-crowd, but not one of them voted for Obamacare, not even the Maine-Sisters. We should have learned by now that even the most spineless Republican is still better than a Democrat who secures the majority for one of he most radical Administrations in history.

      • Reason_For_Life says:

The Democrats had all 60 Senate seats and didn't need any Republicans.

By comparison, look at Cap and Trade in the House. Eight Republicans jumped ship to vote with the Democrats because there were too many Democrats from coal states who would have been crucified when they returned to their districts had they voted for C and T.

  17. Philosopherking says:

I think if the GOP can come up with a balanced budget amendment it would be like a grand slam when your team is just pulling ahead. I would definately be in favor of one that says that the president of the United States can be impeached for signing an unbalanced budget into law. This should make sure that any president whether they be republican or democrat will not sign an unbalanced budget into law.

  18. concurmudgeony says:

    So What?
If Mike Castle, one of the most despicable Liberals in the House, is one of the "Republicans", he will vote consistently to undermine any gains in the conservative/constitutional agenda. Furthermore, Obama can campaign in 2012 against a "gridlocked" "do nothing" congress. It might be better, therefore (unless, by some miracle, the senate goes to a filibuster-proof Republican majority), for the Republicans to gain 49 seats, and get Lieberman to occasionally throw in with them.

  19. Chezwick_Mac says:

This is the same Dick Morris who confidently predicted the 2008 Presidential race would be between Hillary and Condi Rice.

We're obviously going to do quite well in November, but let's keep our perspective. The higher our stated expectations, the easier it will be for Dems to claim a victory of sorts if we don't meet them.

  20. Jim Johnson says:

If the Republicans do take over what will we get for it? Will it be the same old republicans that created the conditions that put the Democrats in office?
Yes that is exactly what we will get. The proof is the renomination of McCain. If the voters of Arizona are not wise to McCain's record then they have learned nothing. If the voters have learned nothing then the McCain and Lindsay Graham types will feel confidant that they can keep on with their same old mode of operation.
Some fresh faces have arisen but how long can they hold out with out being rolled over by the Washington lobbyists. I hear resolve in the air but the contract is wavering.
The articulation of principle is vague and blurred.
