Playing with Poop: Meltdown with Keith Olbermann, Part 54

Jon Stewart’s setting himself up as the new standard of reasonable may be a bit of a stretch; but you’ve got to admire how he rattles Keith Olbermann.
However, the fact that this worries Keith makes the case that Stewart is primarily on the left side of the spectrum– even if he is an honest liberal. What worries Olby most is that Stewart is the most influential voice in Keith’s target audience.
Lately, Keith has been freaking out that Stewart has been equating MSNBC and Fox News– as though this is an insult to MSNBC. In a recent “Worst Person in the Worrrrld” segment– which was discontinued for about as long as Keith was suspended– Olbermann begged for Stewart to take it back.
OLBERMANN: And an aside to Mr. Stewart, Jon, I told you so. I might disagree with you, but I‘d never think you were crazy or hateful. Maher is right. One side sticks to the facts and the other is close to playing with its poop!
This is as good an explanation as any as to why Keith Olbermann only features guests who agree with him (therefore it’s the same cast of 12 characters over and over again) while Bill O’Reilly rarely discusses a hotly debated current topic without a voice from each side.
Why should Keith invite people on to play with poop?
As the old Texas proverb goes: God, help me to always seek the truth, but please spare me the company of those who are convinced they have already found it.
But Keith’s ludicrous assertion that he is a reporter while O’Reilly is a demagogue is an old schtick.
OLBERMANN: And since Fixed News has now migrated completely over to serving propaganda to tin foil hatters, conspiracy theorists, paranoids and racist, it’s not a news organization, making THIS [Olbermann's] show the highest-rated cable news program, period.
Translation: Since I alone have the truth, and the truth is the news, therefore I am the highest rated news program in the worrrrlllld! (It’s worth noting that Keith now has to resort to a comedian for authority, not a journalist or even a real commentator.)
Look up fanatic in the dictionary sometime. I like Winston Churchill’s definition:
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”
Hmmmm. The same 12 guests and the same 5 people making the daily “Worst Persons in the World” segment about 75% of the time, anyone?
