Old Hippies Never Die—They Just Continue to Cause a Stink in Washington

The generation that burned their bras, fried their brains on acid, and brought you the sexually transmitted revolution, has at last outgrown slinging feces at returning war heroes and have found a new cause to “risk jail” for—socialized medicine.
“I will join dozens of leaders of unions and other public interest organizations and thousands of others to protest the major lobby that is blocking real health care reform in Congress…That dozens of leaders would risk arrest in confronting the corporations that stand squarely in the way of fundamental change represents a new moment for our social movements.”
New moment? Seriously? While I don’t doubt that the prospect of taking to the streets, confronting the establishment all while risking jail sounds like the glory days these “leaders” comprised of radicals and union thugs, is anything but new. As for what truly stands in the way of “fundamental change” it’s not the evil corporate empire of insurance companies. It’s the majority of Americans. Who by the way, don’t buy the line that our free market system, nor its CEOs by virtue of their salaries, are criminals.
The protest was organized by Health Care for America Now (HCAN) which has no actual experience in the health care field. Its primary function is to organize demonstrators, and is funded by tax-exempt grants from leftist billionaires George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry.
Cavanagh, together with AFL-CIO President and thug, Richard Trumka and Barbara Ehrenreich, the sixties feminist radical who rationalizes that if people of wealth and power refuse to hand over their assets to those who have none then there is no God, are joining the president in making another free market industry a demon in need of socialistic salvation.
“[W]e must up the ante if we are to create the change this country so desperately needs. One thing that must change is the executive pay system. Chief executives of the top five health insurance companies raked in a combined total of more than $113 million in 2007 and 2008, according to executive pay experts at my organization, the Institute for Policy Studies.”
“We know now that the out of control executive pay system was a cause of the financial crisis. But it’s not just in the high finance world that outrageously high rewards encourage executives to take actions that put the rest of us at risk.”
The following video is by Health Care for America Now urging all those who consider health care benefits a right, to join the “posse” against the insurance industry.
These radicals claim they would go to jail for socialized medicine. I would like to see that too; and watch their dreams to fundamentally change America go up in their favorite smoke.
