One estimate of such a commitment would have represented for U.S. taxpayers, according to American Thinker, 0.7 percent of GDP, or an additional $845 billion over 13 years besides existing foreign aid expenditures. The legislation was passed by Congress but not signed by then-President Bush.
The global president’s compulsion to spread the wealth around to the world’s poor is “by its nature socialist” as American Elephant and others have pointed out. “Many Democrats and members of the Obama Administration have close ties to Democratic Socialists of America, not least, especially Obama himself,” said a report on the Socialist International, meeting on global governance in New York in June. The story came from newzeal.blogspot.com.
The global governance theme is being dutifully pushed by our Secretary of State. Hillary Clinton sought to assure the Council on Foreign Relations in a Sept. 8 speech of Obama’s foreign policy “success.” She argued that America can end conflict, establish peace and repair broken states. She termed it “A New American Moment.” We would not “go it alone” in global efforts. We have forged new partnerships, she insisted, PoliticsDaily reported Sept. 8. Highlighting increasing cooperation with our country’s “closest allies,” she cited a robust U.S.-European Union relationship and a successful NATO alliance. She said the U.S. was “deepening its engagement” with “emerging centers of influence”—including China, India, Russia, and Mexico to drive social progress which will “benefit us all.”
The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is sometimes described as our “real State Department.” In 2009, it launched an initiative to promote a system of effective world governance. The program, entitled, “The International Institutions and Global Governance Program” (IIGG), utilizes resources of the David Rockefeller Studies Program, The Old-Thinker News reported that Henry Kissinger, a CFR member anticipated that President Obama will “give new impetus to American foreign policy….I think his task will be to develop an overall strategy for America in this period when a new world order can be created….”
The IIGG program represents a clique that wants to bring about the “surrender of the sovereignty and the national independence of the United States….” The program states, however, “The country’s long-standing tradition of “exceptionalism” inspires vigilance in protecting the domestic sovereignty…from incursions of international bodies.
On July 4, Big Government wrote that the bestseller “The 5,000 Year Leap: A Miracle that Changed the World” showed American exceptionalism in the context of world history. The article mentioned how Obama had told an audience in Greece that America is exceptional only in the way that Brits think Great Britain is exceptional, or the Greeks think that Greece is exceptional…Obama doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism. He thinks we’re just one indistinguishable slice in the world cake.
