Who Is Davidi Gilo?

Take the Cycle Group, which tried to combine environmentalism and pet waste, by selling environmentally friendly kitty litter made from recycled wood waste. But saving the earth through kitty litter wasn’t for everyone, and the company couldn’t repay its loan, resulting in legal difficulties.

Over in California, however, Gilo was using his portfolio to fund the Gilo Family Foundation, which donates to the Gilo Center for Citizenship, Democracy and Civic Education at Hebrew University. Hebrew U is notoriously left-wing and the Gilo Center made no bones about being a vehicle for the promotion of the ethnic cleansing of Jews in Judea and Samaria as part of the Left’s agenda of territorial concessions to terrorists.

As Davidi Gilo said in his remarks:

The future plans – to disentangle from the West Bank will I’m sure test the same issues, and focusing on them, bringing them into students’ awareness and teaching them is essential…  One of our primary objectives at the Center is to give the teachers tools to confront those issues.

In 2005, the Gilo Center held an international conference in honor of the retirement of Professor Ze’ev Sternhell. Sternhell lived up to the last half of his last name by repeatedly calling for the murder of his political opponents.

Sternhell had called for attacking Israeli towns and cities in areas that the Left wished to concede to terrorists. He had suggested that the terrorists should concentrate their attacks on those cities and towns and called for a civil war within Israel.

Whether through the Democracy Alliance, J Street or the Gilo Center, Davidi Gilo was funding an ugly brand of left-wing radicalism without calling too much attention to himself or to his motives. And the money kept moving through networks of foundations and organizations.

The executive director of the Gilo Family Foundation, Avinoam Armoni, was the former executive director of the New Israel Fund– which is partly Soros funded. On its website the Gilo Center also thanks the NIF for its support.

Gilo’s childhood friend and chairman of Gilo Ventures, Avi Fischer, is on the board of directors of the Israel Democracy Institute. The IDI is Israel’s leading left-wing think tank and the Gilo Center writ large with an even broader range of influence.

Davidi Gilo’s wife, Shamaya Gilo, is also a left-wing radical, a donor to J Street, the Democratic Party and left-wing causes in her own right. And she also has her own foundation, Wings of Change. Together with Jane Fonda and Eve Ensler, she visited Israel on a mission for Ensler’s V-Day organization. Ensler and Fonda have both joined boycotts of Israel.

In April, Shamaya Gilo announced that she was fasting against deficit reduction. “While the minor rumblings of hunger nag at my attention — it strengthens my sense of solidarity,” she wrote.

But the terrorist attacks which kill Israelis and Americans month after month through policies funded and promoted by the Gilo family never quite seem to nag at their attention. Instead, like S. Daniel Abraham and other former Israeli leftists turned American liberal donors, they are doing everything they can to destroy the Jewish state.

    David Gilo and his J Street leftists publicly dissent from Israeli policies while claiming to be pro-Israel. Groups on the Jewish left expressed outrage after the Knesset subcommittee on public diplomacy voted to convene hearings on J Street, the Washington-based lobby that calls itself “pro-Israel, pro-peace” while at the same time undermining the government of Israel by promoting two state solutions not in Israel's interest in the US. Who funds J street is the question needs to be answered!

      You have got no idea how funny we can get about scum, unJews or their co travelers. I will not give you the script of the comedy shows certain unJews participate on.
      Regretfully you cannot ask Eichman and most or the fellows that performed the Munich Olympics massacre as well as many others not officially known. We were totally hilarious with them.
      One of these days I'll send you a video of the MITLA PASS after the Egyptian First and Third armies got their return tickets working. You'll brake out laughing histerically after enjoying the comedy show we played for them there.

      Apparently one of yer favorites, either Ahmed in Teheran or the one in Damascus or both are desperately waiting in lune for our next comedy.
      They intend to try to rocket our country and people using WMD's.
      I hope that two molecules may be found amongst the ruins of Syria and Iran and anyone else willing to play comedy. That will be the ultimate show Flipside.

        It is totally inexplicable to me how a certain type of delusional sociopath — in this case the Left– can reconcile in their demented mind the notion of murder and genocide. And they want their victims to:

    Seem like many religions and ethnic groups have people who act like traitors to their own.
    The Protestants have the National Council of Churches whose office building is some times called the God Box.

    They all seem to have more money than the people under them.

    Of course the Shia have the Sunni and the Sunni the Shia.

    The Blacks have a load of congressmen who rip their constituents off and who really work for White run corporations ex Shiela Jackson Lee.

    I watched J street on c-span. They were very rude to any Israeli that contradicted them.

    Reading this article reminded me of why many fundamentalist Christians are supporters of Israel. I am not a fundamentalist but I have read the Old Testament (aka The Torah and the Tanakh). Cleanse Jews from Judea? From Samaria? These areas are, to paraphrase Rupert Brooke, their own , their native land. We who have not only read the Bible stories, but also know that archeological discoveries have supported the essential veracity of some of those stories ( i.e . towns and forts have been located with the same names) What kind of self destructive mental illness do these liberal "Jews" have that they want to destroy their own history? Those of us who have simply read and learned a little about the Bible know that these stories were written down and circulated before Muhammad was ever born. These leftists are not merely anti-Semitic, they are deniers of history who are funded by that Nazi collaborater, George Soros.

      That very word, fundamentalist, is a favorite of the unthinking left. They love to lump us basic Bible-believers in with certain Middle Eastern religions and call us all fundamentalists, thus tying peaceful Christians (yes, except for the occasional looney tunes) with whole cultures of violence against anyone who disagrees with them.

      I, like you, have a wonderful fondness for Israel because of my Bible reading as a Christian. Incidentally, or perhaps to the whole point, the Jews who I know closely do not know the Bible stories!! Amazing to me, what a loss, a tragedy really. This may explain the lack of protection and affection for the land and its rich history.

          I have to apologize for any pain inflicted. We are to be wise as serpents but harmless as doves. A tall order.

          As you may be able to see, I am a love slave to Jesus Christ. He has my heart and rescues me daily.

          It is through the reading of the Word plus my own rich heritage of being born here in this awesome land that I have a taste for history and spiritual things and an eagerness to preserve our way of life. It is a gift of God.

          Between you and me, then, maybe we can agree that introducing secular and unbelieving Jews to their own wonderful heritage can help bring America back into safety from her enemies.

            Your rabbi has preceded you to let me know this is inappropriate, but thank you. I understand that many Christians do not know any better, though we should have. Our own scriptures tell that only God can speak into man's hearts about spiritual things. Still, we can discuss. So, I hope we will enjoy our discussions while we savor the deep love and faith that each of us has.

            I am unsure whether there was anything other than enthusiasm in my previous message that would seem an attempt to push my views. I thought not but wonder whether it was perceived that way.

    When their very lives or their loved ones lives are about to be taken by muslims, who make no secret of their plans, what will the Left say then? George Soros has shown he will aid the fascists. His denial was truly to save his own life, though retribution will naturally come for him in a few years. But what about the rest? They clearly don't understand when muslims say unequivocally they want all Jews dead. They play politics apparantly unaware their lives are in danger. Meanwhile they join their would-be murderers against those who are trying to save them. If it were not sad, it would be puzzling.

    Well-researched and useful article. However, 'Sternhell' is a German term meaning 'as bright as stars' and doesn't have anything to do with the English term 'hell.' The attempt at a cheap shot based on somebody's family name is always unnecessary, as much a problematic person he might be.

    This is my first time reading FrontPage, as I knew Davidi as friend of a friend and googled his name. Am I right in thinking that this site is militant, or just the commenters? From the comments, calling him a terrorist, this is silly. When I read that I have to discount everything in the article.

    Is this hyperbole, or do you really think he is a terrorist? Please teach me, as I know little about this topic. I will say, however, that it appears to me that Israel is killing a lot more Palestinians than vice versa. You obviously support this, why?
