    Gamal Nasser was obsessed with the supremacy of Egypt, and fancied himself the Pharaoh of a new Egyptian Empire until the Israelis brought his plans to a crashing and embarassing halt in '67 when the Egyptian Army and their allies got thoroughly dominated on the battlefield by an army they thought inferior.

    One rather hilarious effect was the change in the Arab world's propaganda after the Six-day war: They switched from the "cowardly Jew" stereotype or European antisemitism to the "Unstoppable demon Jew" stereotype that lasts to this day, and that famous Lebanese cartoon (Of Nasser kicking a stereotypical Jew off a cliff) became an embarassment.

        this is an important point, the Egytians are NOT "arab". Nor are the Syrians, Lebanese, Iranians, Iraqis, Libyans, and many others. the race lines were blurred before medieval times by the advance of Islam.
        even Jordan is not "arab", modern day Jordan is really ancient East Israel.
        Since the Romans renamed Israel "palestine" to punish the Jews for daring to oppose them, the entire area called "palestine" is in fact Israel, and the only legitimate claim to be "palestinian" comes from Jews.

    I would not worry about this supremacist and nationalist party.Scores of parties are now formed and dissolved in Egypt .Many strive to head the envisaged kleptocracy.What the poor , duped and desperate people need is some kind of benign dictatorship to restore public order and provide basic food for about 80 millions.Any new regime will be more than glad to imprison visitors on trumped up accusations and get ransom for their release.

One says the only way they'll gain strength in the world is through a strong military, then the other one says the only way is through industry, agriculture, tourism, and development.
