Abdo’s Loyalty to Islam

To anyone familiar with Muslim doctrine, Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo’s actions—from refusing to deploy to Afghanistan lest he kill fellow Muslims, to plotting a terror attack to kill fellow Americans—make perfect sense and accord especially well with Islam’s dichotomous doctrine of wala wa bara, often translated as “loyalty and enmity.”

Built atop numerous Koran verses and backed by Sharia, wala requires Muslims to be loyal to fellow Muslims, and explains why Abdo refused to deploy to Muslin nations.

While loyalty may appear admirable, its flipside, bara, requires Muslims to disassociate themselves from non-Muslims—to have enmity for and be disloyal to them (see al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri’s 60 page treatise titled “Loyalty and Enmity” in The Al Qaeda Reader for details).

For example, Koran 5:51 literally warns Muslims against “taking the Jews and Christians as friends and allies … whoever among you takes them for friends and allies, he is surely one of them,” i.e., he becomes an infidel; 58:22 states that true Muslims do not befriend non-Muslims — “even if they be their fathers, sons, brothers, or kin.”

Now consider the progress of Abdo and how his actions reveal great doctrinal consistency:

First, over a year ago he objected to participating in any war in any Muslim country, claiming “conscientious objector” status: “I don’t believe I can involve myself in an army that wages war against Muslims. I don’t believe I could sleep at night if I take part, in any way, in the killing of a Muslim. … I can’t deploy with my unit to Afghanistan and participate in the war—I can’t both deploy and be a Muslim.”

He would not be the first to object to combating fellow Muslims: Major Nidal Hasan, who went on a shooting spree in Fort Hood in 2009, killing thirteen—and who Abdo heroizes—considered himself to be “a Muslim first and an American second“; the idea of deploying to a Muslim nation, his “worst nightmare,” threw him “over the edge.” Then there was Sergeant Hasan Akbar, who killed two American soldiers and wounded fourteen in Kuwait “because he was concerned U.S. troops would kill fellow Muslims in Iraq.”

Next, though Abdo had no problem openly evincing loyalty to Muslims, trusting that tolerant or sentimental Americans would indulge him, he hid his enmity and disloyalty for those same Americans, in accordance to taqiyya—a doctrine that permits Muslims to deceive infidels. In fact, the Koran’s primary justification for deception is in the context of “loyalty and enmity”: “Let believers not take for friends and allies infidels [non-Muslims] instead of believers. Whoever does this shall have no relationship left with Allah—unless you but guard yourselves against them, taking precautions” (3:28).

Selective quote that leaves out opposing and fighting Muslims who do wrong and not fighting those with a treaty unless violated
The warning to weak Muslims afraid of being attacked by pagan Arabs)about taking Jews and Christians ( who were violent enemies of Islam)for protectors (not friends) was IN PREFERENCE to Muslims as protectors.
Many Muslims are ignorant and unable to balance the verses in the Qur'an as they use their limited knowledge and defective understanding and ignore the basic command of being just even if it is against relatives and other Muslims in cases where they act out of misguided loyalty. The fact that the US can act unjustly in dealing with countries that have a majority of Muslims , individuals or groups doe not means that they are acting Islamically as in Syria. Copts and fanatic Christians who feel that they are discriminated in Egypt and oppressed and killed allow their emotion and prejudice to campaign against Islam and Muslims. Demonizing Muslims as disloyal because they believe in the Qur'an and act with justice. Propaganda like Goebbels made about Jews seems to be the Front Page agenda along with daniel pipes and p. Geller and Spencer. Trash and unAmerican but fanatic Zionist garbage.

I, like a growing number of Americans now days, have a carry permit. I don't need one in Texas.
A piece of advice Ameer, stay out of Texas!

I want you to state you Muslims MUST not take VERBATUM the words of the
Koran, the Shaaria and all the TRILOGY and that any deviation is considered APOSTHASY and dealt accordingly ???
I learned yesterday that, according to all your books, the JIZYA, tax DHIMMIS
(this third class citizen unbelievers are called) have to pay yearly for the
"privilege" of living among and under the "protection" of the "FAITHFUL" (Muslims)
IS EQUIVALENT TO HALF OF THEIR YEARLY EARNINGS….
WHICH BRINGS ME TO ASK OUR PRESIDENT, HIGHLY VERSED IN ISLAMIC
LAW, WHY SHOULDN'T WE CHARGE THE "FAITHFUL" LIVING IN OUR MIDST
THE SAME "JIZYA" TAX PRESCRIBED IN THE TRILOGY FOR THE PRIVILEGE
OF LIVING IN OUR MIDST BUT WITH THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES THEY
WOULD DENY US AS DHIMMIS ?????????
And by the way, it will be already TWO (2) YEARS from the FORT HOOD
MASSACRE and I haven't heard, seen or read what action has been taken.

Just why is it nearly two years since the Fort Hood Massacre and its devout orthodox Muslim perpetrator Nidal Malik Hasan still hasn't been tried by court-martial? His renegade JAG defense counsel has already bailed, so pretrial maneuverings no longer explain the delay. Fact is, when Hasan goes down, his entire PC-riddled chain of command may go down with him, including the then-Army chief of staff. His superiors chose to ignore all kinds of warning signs that Hasan was a jihadi just waiting for his moment to scream "Allahu Akbar!!!" and gun down innocent victims.

Oh, wait, I forgot. Only Muslims are innocent according to Shariah, and those whom Hasan killed or wounded were "evil Kuffar on their way to waging unjust war upon his fellow Muslims". Most of the dead were doctors if I recall correctly.

Meanwhile the woman-wounded paralyzed Hasan rots in jail deprived of his 72 virgins,so not all forms of justice require courts of law.

      ameer, you say:
"Many Muslims are ignorant and unable to balance the verses in the Qur'an as they use their limited knowledge and defective understanding and ignore the basic command of being just…."
But I thought Muslims are "the best of peoples" and of course Allah made no mistake and gave you a "prophet" to give you his words and directions. How bad did he mess up if it can be so often and so poorly misunderstood?
While we're at it, let me ask you, why is it ok to insult Allah but not Mohammed? If you are an apostate from Islam (essentially rejecting Allah…pretty insulting I'd say), you are given a chance to come back. But if you insult Mohammed, you are to be killed where you stand. Who carries more weight in Islam? I guess I too, misunderstand something.

      • Ali Hossein says:

@StephenD: This posting is simply a myriad of erroneous statements. First, people irrespective of their faith are ignorant only because they choose to be. The misinterpretation of the Qur'an and its verses are not due to any falacies comprised therein, but rather reflect the tendency of individuals to interpret the verses in their own favor. I can very easily take verses from the old and new testament and attribute a false meaning to them. The same can be done with texts from polytheistic religions.

        • Ali Hossein says:

Second, when you refer to Muslims being the best people, please note the following. Muslims are not a single category of people. The word Muslim means "those who have willingly submitted entirely to the will of The One God." In this sense, it is true to state that Muslims (as translated hereinbefore) are the best people, since when an individual submits entirely to the will of The One God, the individual will no longer foster any hatred or enmity and instead will only experience the blessings of inner peace (which in arabic means Islam).

          • Ali Hossein says:

Third, an insult against The One God is considered an act against God, period. Fourth, there is no basis for any punishment against those who insult the Prophet. In fact, narrations convey that a particular lady used to throw garbage on the Prophet everytime he used pass by her home. The Prophet never even raised his voice or complained. Instead, he prayed for God to bring her onto the path of righteousness and virtue. One day, the Prophet notice her absence and accordingly inquired about her. She had falled ill. The Prophet took some soup to her and stayed with her for hours praying. A few days later, she recovered and embraced the Prophet's message. This true story is an example of the freedom of expression in true Islam.

          • StephenD says:

Tell me, was the FOGEL FAMILY MASSACRE an example of the "expression in true Islam?"
Why didn't I see you write about all that noble virtue when that happened?
Talk to my A**, I've got a headache.
