Why James Clapper Must Resign

The director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, astonished the House Intelligence Committee yesterday when he told members that the Islamist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, was “largely secular,” and had “eschewed violence.” The statement demonstrated Clapper’s profound ignorance toward one of the major players in the global Islamic terrorism movement, and seriously puts into question his competency as the head of the Department of National Intelligence.

In response to a question from Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC) about the threat posed by the Brotherhood, Clapper demonstrated in one fell swoop why he is singularly unqualified to head up the intelligence community of the United States government. Politico’s Josh Gerstein quotes Clapper:

The term ‘Muslim Brotherhood’…is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam. They have pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt, et cetera…..In other countries, there are also chapters or franchises of the Muslim Brotherhood, but there is no overarching agenda, particularly in pursuit of violence, at least internationally.

(See video here.)

Middle East scholar Michael Ledeen believes that Clapper’s ignorance is only half the problem. He notes that the DNI’s remarks “are not his personal opinions; they are the collective judgment of the Intelligence Community.” Indeed, one must assume when the Director speaks – especially in front of a congressional committee – that he has amassed the consensus opinions from every agency under his sweeping jurisdiction. If this is the case, what does that say about the perspicacity of our intelligence community? Is it really this dysfunctional? A frightening thought, to be sure.

This isn’t the first time that Director Clapper has amazed America with his lack of knowledge about what is going on in the world. Last December, in a Diane Sawyer interview, he admitted he had no knowledge of a roundup of 12 terrorists in London that had been front page news that day and dominated the news cycle on the cable nets. Later, the White House tried to cover up Clapper’s jaw-dropping ignorance by claiming that he was immersed in details of the START treaty.

Can we be comforted knowing that Clapper is not a multi-tasker?

Examining Clapper’s remarks before the Intel Committee, one can’t help but be astounded, and not a little bewildered at his cluelessness about the Brotherhood. It’s not like the Islamists are trying to hide the nature of their organization, their goals, their history, or their reason for being.

As former CIA operations officer Brian Fairchild writes, there are no secrets between the Brotherhood and the rest of the world. Muhammad Mahdi Akef, the supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, from 2004-2010 repeatedly made clear the religious nature of his organization. He said on December, 11, 2005, “The Muslim Brotherhood is a global movement whose members cooperate with each other throughout the world, based on the same religious worldview — the spread of Islam, until it rules the world.”

Clapper definitely needs to be forced to resign or forced out. However, this is a carry over problem from the Bush administration as Bush never fired anyone for the greatest intelligence failure ever in history and even promoted some of them later on, thereby ensuring at the same time that this sort of political correct institutional blindness would continue to permeate throughout our federal government.

I condemn the Obama administration because it is obvious that it is incredibly incompetent, but the Bush administration was incredibly incompetent too in its own right.

It’s time this time around to elect a true conservative and not someone that is a stealth liberal like GWB and someone that is also not oblivious again with respect to the threat of Islam and the current global jihad being waged via violent and non-violent stealth and deceptive jihad, and someone who will appoint people unaffected by political correctness and people willing to clean all the political correct riff raff that have permeated throughout our federal government and turned it into a pathetic basketcase that is far more a liability than it is an asset.

I mean GWB doubled the size of the federal government ostensibly to protect the homeland, but also to continue accommodating mass Muhammadan immigration with all its excess baggage, and just like growing government is never the solution to anything much less protecting the homeland from terrorist attacks, today we are just as vulnerable if not more as we were the day 9/11 happened, as the Fort Hood Massacre, Christmas Day Bomber, and Times Square Bomber all more than demonstrated.

If we ban and reverse Muhammadan immigration, not only will there be no more terrorist attacks, but we will also regain the freedoms and rights we all sacrificed to accommodate them and the hundreds of billions of dollars we are throwing down the drain to continue accommodating them, can be used for something else a hell of a lot more productive. Our government will also be a lot smaller and our economy will benefit in the long run as well.

    • bdouglasaf1980 says:

You knocked it out of the park. Ban muslim immigration once islam has been declared a dangerous, militant, political movement.

This president and administration are the poster children for incompetence.

      • ObamaYoMoma says:

Here is the way I see it. The fact of the matter is if not for the Muhammadan immigrant community already living here in the USA with their thousands of mosques and madrassas and separate Muhammadan enclaves to aid, support, assist, and to provide cover for them, the 9/11 terrorist attacks could never have been made possible.

Indeed, if you don’t allow Muhammadans in the first place to immigrate to your country with all their excess baggage, the fact of the matter is Islamic terrorist attacks are impossible, as no Muhammadan immigrants living in your country translates to zero Islamic terrorist attacks, and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. All it takes is a little common sense.

Not to mention that you also can’t import Muhammadans into your country without also importing Sharia, jihad, terrorist attacks, and a whole host of other excess baggage as well, and all of them are backwards, draconian, and antithetical to the Western way of life with its inherent freedoms and openness.

In addition, when you also import Muhammadan immigrants into your country, the freedom of speech, the freedom of expression, and the right to privacy must also necessarily all be sacrificed to accommodate them. Since if you don’t watch what you say or do publicly, you could end up with your throat slashed and with a knife containing a note impaled in your body like Theo Van Gogh in the Netherlands ended up.

Moreover, if you go to an airport or a federal building, be prepared to have the junk in your trunk manually inspected or electronically exposed to unionized federal security personnel, which is all things that average Americans today must endure in order to continue accommodating Muhammadan immigrants with all their excess baggage.

Oh, and you better arrive a few hours early as well, because you will have to patiently wait in the long ass security lines, while old ladies get frisked and Muhammadan looking people get passed by, because of fear of discrimination lawsuits.

In any event, if we collectively eliminated and reversed Muhammadan immigration to our respective countries, not only could we eliminate the threat of Islamic terrorist attacks from the homeland altogether but we could also put the hundreds of billions of dollars we currently spend annually today to continue accommodating Muhammadan immigrants and all their excess baggage, (via the creation of a false sense of security, as if spending more money and growing government somehow translates to greater security, which is utterly absurd), to much more productive and better uses.

Indeed, even though GWB like a drunken Dhimmicrat on steroids and like the true leftwing loon he really was and still is, doubled the size of the federal government ostensibly to protect the homeland from Islamic terrorist attacks, but really to continue accommodating Muhammadan immigration with all of its excess baggage by creating a false sense of security, the homeland today in reality is just as vulnerable to Islamic terrorist attacks as it was the day 9/11 happened as the recent Fort Hood Massacre, Christmas Day Bomber, and Times Square Bomber all more than adequately demonstrated. In fact, growing government is never the solution for anything much less preventing terrorist attacks.

Finally, we could also regain our lost freedom of speech, our lost freedom of expression, and our lost right to privacy we also were forced to sacrifice in order to accommodate Muhammadan immigration with all its excess baggage.

Indeed, all other immigrant groups are required to make personal sacrifices when they immigrate except for Muhammadans who require the host countries involved to continually make more and more sacrifices as time goes on until finally there is nothing more left to sacrifice and you find yourself subjugated dhimmis inside your own countries.

  2. Chezwick_Mac says:

An argument could be made that the MB has "eschewed violence"…at least in recent years, but the idea that it is "largely secular" is an absurdity made up entirely of whole-cloth. This far exceeds Clapper's gaff on 60 Minutes, when he knew nothing about terror arrests made in London 24 hours earlier that even the general public was aware of.

It's clear that Clapper is in over his head. The few times he's in the public light, he seems to get things wrong. God knows what's he's missing behind the scenes.

  3. davarino says:

Clapper is not the problem. You can put some one else in his place that knows the MB but what about the rest of the government workers who are told what to believe or are actually collaborators. Our government has been infiltrated and there needs to be a house cleaning. We have to start calling these guys on their BS and pointing it out to the American people.

I think what is happening is a combination of oil buying mens souls and enemies of the state that are joining with external enemies. Its time for another McCarthy.

  4. StephenD says:

I can tell you emphatically that there are plenty of Government folks that DO NOT swallow the line of bull being fed them. Many are followers of this and other informative sites. Many do the actual work of and take serious their duty of being “The Front Line” against terrorism. These are the silent heroes that have to operate in the shadows of their own government to merely do the job right. Let us hope they stay with it until this nightmare of an administration is a bad memory

  5. RayS says:

YES..Clapper should resign. The larger problem is his boss. Obama can NOT be so dumb that he doesn't know the qualifications of those he wants in key positions. It seems certain that he deliberatly is placing people with viewpoints harmul to US interests in critical positions.

  6. Cuban Refugee says:

Clapper, who deserves no applause for his naive and disingenuous comments, is following this administration's "see no evil, hear no evil" policy regarding Muslims and Jihadists in general. In the Obama regime's line of thinking that, if they do not mention the bogey man in the closet, he will not come out in the middle of the night and cut off our heads while shouting, "Allahu Akbar." Did Clapper think he was addressing preschool children who have not yet learned to read and do their own research? As the Director of National Intelligence, this man is a complete failure and an embarrassment to the country — one of many in the long list of appointments written in Obama's scrawl — get him the hell out before he stumbles and bumbles us into another major terrorist attack!

    • winoceros says:

Well, if the FCC hadn't cut off his access to forbidden material on the internet, material that put Muslims in a bad light and so thereby failing the multi-culti smell test, he'd have known it.

He was not the only one. The briefing was jaw-dropping not only for this money line, but by what was ommitted and the constant failure to mentio the word "Islam". Lots of "well, it's because of poverty and lack of jobs nonsense." You might be able to finda recording from CSPAN.

  7. MBANJ says:

Where is the Congress to institute treason charges for blatant disregard of facts. In this modern era we cannot allow deliberate ignorance of real translations that threaten our existence. The fools who pretend to only list to the English broadcasts are really aware of the true interpretations of the home broadcasts which means they are evil personified as they lead us into slaughter. This is the very definition of treason and they should be dealt with quickly and correctly by our Armed Forces and Justice Department as we are in two wars right now and this traitor is giving direct aid and comfort to the enemy, as is his marionette, the usurper. Where is OUR government, not the one taken over by the deceivers?

    • bdouglasaf1980 says:

I don't think congress nor many other people in government has the courage required to clean house. As of yet, no one has brought up charges on the traitorous Army private who released classified information during a time of war to potential enemies.

  8. Shaun says:

Wasn’t the whole point of creating the DNI for U.S. Intelligence to be able to “connect the dots,” as mandate by that huddle of Monday morning quarterbacks called the “9/11Commission?” Clapper cannot even see the dots! This is not intelligence – this is idiocy dictated by progressivist ideology!

    • SAM000 says:

The current problem was generated and fed partly by Ronald Reagan.
Go to google and look at US soldiers camp BOMBED in Libanon on 1982.

After this BOMBING were 242 US soldiers were killed, Reagan withdrawed the troops from LIBANON and left the Midel east to the AYATOLLAHs of Iran.

And Khomeini created HEZBOLLAH of Libanon.

the same year, the CIA DIRECTOR of Midel east was kidnapped at his office of Beirut, he was transferred to TEHERAN by using the Diplomatic VALISE where he was tortured during 2 years and exhusted of his intelligence, this was resulted of the assassination of all the CIA members in all the MIDEL EAST countries.

At 1984, CIA HAD NO AGENT in the Midel east.

During those periods Ronald Reagan missioned COLONEL OLIVER NORTH to go to TEHRAN and offer COLT and CAKE and QORAN to Khomeini (Iran Gate or Iran Kontra) and make a eternal deal with Khomeini.

The Eternal deal between USA and Islamic Iran were focused on the Islamic Regime's security concerns.

Based on those pact, USA GUARANTEES the securities to the Islamic Republic of IRAN in all circumstances.

If you are interested I can write the 2end part of the history,

BUT, RONALD REAGAN was the first president who helped the INSTALLATION of the ISLAMIC TERRORISM in the MIDEL EAST,

Question for James Claptrap: If the Moslem Brotherhood has so radically and completely reformed itself as to be unrecognizable from its terrible past, not only eshewing jihad but exchanging violent, tyrannical, Islamic values for peaceful, tolerant, democratic secular ones then answer me this: Why is it still called Moslem Brotherhood? Why isn't it called Secular Brotherhood? Or Democratic Brotherhood? Or Pluralist Brotherhood? Or the anti-Islamic Brotherhood? Need I tell you why Claptrap? There's great irony in the judgment God is allowing to fall on us. We were once the best because on-fire Christians established Americal. We had morality. Today we're the biggest exporter of porn, we pack football stadiums like we used to pack churches, we worship our cell phones, we've murdered millions of babies, we're teaching kids that Nothing formed the universe, deviants think they have "rights" to marry, etc. Thousands of our family members have died in battle defending the Constitution, yet today it seems we'll be destroyed by an enemy disguised as a religion taking advantage of our freedom of religion and what's worse, they're way more faithful worshipping their false god than most Americans are the real God! This is a spiritual battle between good and evil. Unless and until America repents of her sins and turns back to God, we're doomed. He's the only One who can help us now.

Excellent post with which I wholeheartedly agree. We reap what we sow — a nation that turns its face away from the light of God to worship evil can only get the abomination which we are currently experiencing in return. In any case, he must be ousted (not to mention others), but this is a start to show that the people's will must prevail. The Heart

"Tomorrow morning," the surgeon began, "I'll open up your heart…"

"You'll find Jesus there," the boy interrupted.

    The surgeon looked up, annoyed.

"I'll cut your heart open," he continued, “to see how much damage has been done…"

"But when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there," said the boy.

The surgeon looked to the parents, who sat quietly.

"When I see how much damage has been done, I'll sew your heart and chest back up, and I'll plan what to do next."

"But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."

The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart. I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I'll find out if I can make you well."

"You'll find Jesus there, too. He lives there."

The surgeon left. He sat in his office, recording his notes from the surgery, "…damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, and widespread muscle degeneration.

No hope for transplant, no hope for cure.

    Therapy: painkillers and bed rest.

Prognosis (here he paused): "death within one year."

He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked aloud.
"Why did you do this? You've put him here; you’ve put him in this pain; and you’ve cursed him to an early death. Why?"

The Lord answered, "The boy, my lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of my flock, and will forever be. Here in My flock, he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you cannot imagine. His parents will one day join him here, and they will know peace, and my flock will continue to grow."

The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created that boy, and you created that heart. He'll be dead in months. Why?"

The Lord answered, "The boy, my lamb, shall return to my flock, for He has done his duty. I did not put my lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost lamb."

    The surgeon wept…

The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him. The boy awoke and whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"

    "Yes," said the surgeon.

"What did you find?" asked the boy.

"I found Jesus there," said the surgeon.
