Muslims, Mormons and Liberals

‘Hasa Diga Eebowai” is the hit number in Broadway’s hit musical “The Book of Mormon,” which won nine Tony awards last year. What does the phrase mean? I can’t tell you, because it’s unprintable in a family newspaper.

On the other hand, if you can afford to shell out several hundred bucks for a seat, then you can watch a Mormon missionary get his holy book stuffed—well, I can’t tell you about that, either. Let’s just say it has New York City audiences roaring with laughter.

The “Book of Mormon”—a performance of which Hillary Clinton attended last year, without registering a complaint—comes to mind as the administration falls over itself denouncing “Innocence of Muslims.” This is a film that may or may not exist; whose makers are likely not who they say they are; whose actors claim to have known neither the plot nor purpose of the film; and which has never been seen by any member of the public except as a video clip on the Internet.

No matter. The film, the administration says, is “hateful and offensive” (Susan Rice), “reprehensible and disgusting” (Jay Carney) and, in a twist, “disgusting and reprehensible” (Hillary Clinton). Mr. Carney, the White House spokesman, also lays sole blame on the film for inciting the riots that have swept the Muslim world and claimed the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three of his staff in Libya.

    New T- Shirt says:

I'll take the Mormon over the Moron.

    If the shirt fits…..

  2. Schlomotion says:

When the army invades Utah and uses Al Qaeda to assassinate the leader of the Mormons and build a massive oil well right in the middle of Salt Lake City, and when Mormons are one of the Five Great Religions trying to impose their laws on non-Mormons, but most importantly when Mormons run afoul of Israeli interests then it will be OK to make fun of them. Until then, it is verboten to make fun of our future Supreme Leader. Or it's OK to do it now, but not later. I don't know. Mr. Stephens' doublespeak is hard to decipher.

    • Roger says:

They don't use suicide vests do they?

And they don't riot and burn down things when you make fun of them do they?

So, why is your point relevant then?

    • Advocatus says:

You're an intellectual cipher, Schlomo, and a morally repugnant human being, no offence.

More to the point, you're unable to offer a single coherent argument to any article under discussion so you recycle tired old cliches about the "root causes" of the perennial Muslim grievance mongering industry, the alleged wolrd domination of your favorite Zionist bugbears or what have you. And you can't get even those inane ideas across with any modicum of intellectual vigor.

Case in point: what in God's name are you babbling on about again? "Five Great Religions," "future Supreme Leader" etc. etc. Your outpourings day after day are subpar even as useless nonsense.

    • Ghostwriter says:

      Idiocy,thy name is Schlomotion.

    • Dray11 says:

That was no more than totally worthless crap in the form of moral equivalence. (Just curious: You a flaming liberal or a Ron Paul supporter?)

  3. Dwee says:

Book of Mormon made Africans look like total idiot fools, albeit with good singing voices. Yes, it was huge insult to Mormons as well, but the Mormons were risking their lives to help the desperate natives. The Mormans were kind and sincere whereas the Africans were bloodthirsty and absurdly superstitious. Liberals were yukking it up though, at both the blatant racial insults and the anti Mormon ones. Bunch of hypocrites . Also a waste of a thousand bucks in tickets, but got them at the request of good friend.

    • Questions says:

A lot of Mormons say that they actually liked the play. It was parody, but good-natured — brought to you by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, those "South Park" guys. Nothing is sacred to them, and it's a good thing.

      • Kufar Dawg says:

Islamofascism is sacred to them, which is why they've never denigrated it except indirectly and with plausible deniability.

        • Questions says:

Preposterous. Anyone who has ever watched "South Park" knows Parker & Stone skewer Islam as thoroughly as any other institution. And why, by the way, should Christianity or Judaism be off-limits to parody? Since when do the "right" religions automatically get a free pass? From Aristophanes to Zappa, parody has functioned as a way to induce an audience to see the larger truth of things through humor — even if at first we don't feel like laughing.

  4. Allan Foster says:

Of course, the USArmy did invade Mormonland back in the 1850's.

    • Kufar Dawg says:

In the here and now maybe the US Army will have to invade Dearbornistan, because violating the civil rights of non muslimes is the obvious bent of their judicial and law enforcement entities.

  5. Horace says:

OK, The Book of Mormon play is a parody, and Hillary liked it. The Mormons can take a joke. So why when an amateurishly produced movie "trailer" (possibly really a concept pilot) that is basically a series of verbatim quotes from the koran and various hadith texts obviously designed to show the fact that Mohmmed was a licentious warlord, not a holy man, does Hillary make such a show of denouncing it? Why do the Muslims get so worked up about it when it is basically factual? Because it graphically depicts their prophet. Coming attractions of the great Jihad folks. Hillary and Barack are working for the same boss as Mohammed.

    • Kufar Dawg says:

I suspect both members of the current junta are being well compensated to do so as well. Their constituents don't reside so much in the USA as the petrofascist Gulf states.

  6. Kufar Dawg says:

The scumbags at South Park devoted a whole episode to denigrating the Church of Latter Day Saints and regularly denigrate Christianity, but when it comes to islam, they're mute, like the rest of the amoral, apathetic, cowardly left.

    • Questions says:

"Cowardly" is a term that every angry Red State radical uses when he feels Christianity is being "mocked" and Islam isn't parodied within one second later. I have no sympathy for such thin-skinned bullies. I can't stand Islam, but that doesn't mena I have to give Christianity the white-gloves treatment. As for Parker & Stone, they're libertarians, not "Leftists."

  7. Ghostwriter says:

Well, unlike Mormons,Muslims have this nasty habit of killing people for making fun of their prophet. That maybe the reason for it,Kufar Dawg.

    • Kufar Dawg says:

Then they shouldn't be deprecating any religion at all, but instead the lieberal, amoral, apathetic left take the easy targets: Judaism, Christianity and now, the Church of Latter Day Saints and by doing so they're advancing the cause of islam, whether willingly or not.

  8. Terry says:

I am very confused about all these Religious Gods..Which one is the strongest ?
To beleive or not to beleive ?…and to be forced to believe is out of the question !
Remember this..When you have Faith without Religion you can never lose your
    Freedom of Speach…………
Shalom..be well ..be safe and follow your heart.
Faith is silent and peaceful and can never be argued by man !
