If you take away two salient points from this lost battle, let it be these
1. Either we will end immigration, or immigration will end us
2. Either we will end the welfare state, or the welfare state will end us

Thank goodness one conservative commentator gets it. Immigration is the number one issue. Hispanics are not "natural conservatives." If we have a mass legalization of hispanics (likely now that the snake is back in Office), America will become a one party state. Republicans will have to move so far to the left that they won't be recognizable. Dems will move even further to the left.
Wake up repubs: So long as you hold to principles of individual liberty and initiative and puh back against the welfare state, these two things will remain true: You won't win hispanics — ever. You won't win blacks — ever.
Immigration, immigration, immigration. This is what matters.
cubans aside I was always under the impression that hispanics were "natural communists" (because you know, they come from countries that have been either communist or socialist)
we won't win either of those because of identity politics, mostly. The hispanics are natural targets for the dems because many of them come from already socialist countries and think socialism is wonderful. So they don't know any better. The blacks are convinced we are racist. So the hurdle is far greater than selling "individual liberty".
Cuban hispanics vote Republican
only the ones that escaped. The ones that somehow managed to legally immigrate to Canada are dyed in the wool communists.
Then WHY don't THEY just stay in their own country??? Hmmmmmm. Could it be what M Thatcher said? They ran out of OTHER PEOPLES MONEY? Now America is the only country left to loot? Oh, my friends, yes.
I have a theory on that. The Party Faithful of the Communist Party can be granted special favors and go to places that historically have been Castro-friendly. One of our Prime Ministers, the late Pierre Elliot Trudeau (Rips Off Canada), was literally Castro's Best Friend Forever, taking his family to personally vacation in Cuba at Castro's villa. An interview with I believe CBC News showed Castro speaking of one such vacation where Trudeau brought his sons. Tgrudeau was a communist, through and through, though Canadians were so taken by his clintonesque charm that they fell for it over and over.
So then you have favored members of the Communist Party hanging out in Canada with the blessing of Papa Fidel, because it makes the escapees who flee to Florida seem crazy. After all, if a Cuban can immigrate to Canada, why would Cubans need to flee on unstable rafts? It's part of a campaign of propaganda.
The reasons for the Hispanic attachment to Obama are really that they have low expectations for themselves and others.

I fully expect Israel to have to deal with Iran properly either by itself or with SOME help of some kind from Canada.
Immigration and the welfare state run with fiat money. Write about fiat money.

We won't end immigration. Anemic fertility rates and an aging population make immigration a vital economic necessity.
The dangers of immigration really stem from only two specific groups: Muslims and Mexicans. Muslims because of the incompatibility of their belief-system with our culture of liberty; Mexicans because of their proximity, numbers, and long-standing territorial claims on America.
As for the entitlement state, yes, its dismantling is a prerequisite for a restoration of our fiscal well-being. But saying and doing are two very different things. Let's face it, our work ethic has been whittled away. We've become soft, lazy, and dysfunctional. And Obama's re-election will only re-enforce the phenomenon.
Today is a day of mourning for our country. There is no other way to spin last night's verdict.
while I'm glad I'm sitting up here in Canada where we have reasonably sane policies and politicians federally (except the Bloc and the NDP, LOL), I have to wonder just how long even we can hold out if Obama's policies really do a number on USA as if it was Carter's Third Term.
Last night was an election between a Democrat and a Democrat and we (non Democrats) shouldn't be surprised that a Democrat won.
Fellow Americans, get ready for serious trouble ahead.
The recent campaign raises the question: Can one defeat a would-be leftist tyrant in an election without calling him what he is? The answer is 'evidently not'. But in this particular election I think he could not have been defeated had the opposition called him exactly what he is.
We will and must continue to object to and resist against implementation of the leftist model, but America is moving away from its political and cultural heritage, and it will continue to do so. As the Democratic Party left Ronald Reagan, so new Americans, persuaded of leftist tenets are taking America somewhere else. Before very long the idea of America will be almost the diametric opposite of what the founders intended and hoped for. Perhaps we should change our name.
Either we will end the Trotskyite necon filth or they will end US.
