Global warming, is there anything it can’t do?
Antarctic sea ice has expanded to cover the largest area recorded since satellite mapping began more than three decades ago. The expansion continues a trend of increasing Antarctic sea ice cover of about 1 per cent a decade and is at odds with predictions of climate change models that continue to forecast a long-term decline.
Well clearly the antarctic sea ice expansion is a fraud perpetuated by the oil industry and scientists in the pay of the oil industry. It must be immediately melted down to conclusively prove the existence of global warming and anyone who says otherwise probably hates science.
Rob Massom from the Australian Antarctic Division and Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-operative Research Centre in Hobart said this week: “The message is there is a lot of work to better understand what processes are occurring around Antarctica and the role of these processes in affecting sea ice.” Dr Massom said the most authoritative climate change models forecast a loss of up to 30 per cent of Antarctic sea ice by the end of the century, and did not indicate the present expansion.
Global Warming is a fact, except when it’s not. Then more work needs to be done to understand it. But 30 percent more, 30 percent less; who’s keeping track?
The important thing is that change is happening and all change is proof of climate change. If the temperature rises or falls then the climate has changed which means that we must stop our cruel carbon exhalations, watch our carbon footprints and go back to living in caves or the icebergs will melt… or perhaps increase dramatically.
The slight, 3% 'gain' in Antarctic sea ice is within the statistical margin of error for the past 30 years. The massive, more than 50% LOSS in Arctic sea ice is not.
Temperatures are warmer in the southern ocean. So it's certainly not global cooling that's causing the very slight increase in extent there. And the devastating Arctic losses, far faster than feared, are the direct result of human caused climate change.
Due to the fact that the southern ocean tends to insulate the sea ice a bit more than the northern Arctic, we will probably not see winter season reductions in Antarctic sea ice for another 10-20 years. By that time, there will likely be no end summer sea ice at all in the Arctic.

3% of X can be more than 50% of Y
90% of the world's ice is at the Antarctic. ~2% is in the Arctic.
3% of 90% is much more than 50% of 2%

Boy, you just completely missed the point, didn't you. Just whoosh, right past you. It's not that there was a 3% gain, but that the climate models predicted a 30% loss. That's a 33% error in their calculations — is that within the statistical margin of error?
Or is it an indication that perhaps the entire model is in error…
But if the model WAS in error…."Global warming" caused it!

Come on now Andrew don't talk like that. I am an environmentalist but a realistic one. I was all for reducing my carbon footprint and buying my plug in hybrid in the very beginning. I still love the car and it saves me plenty of money. I silt think coal power plants are a bad idea but because the coal industry is dirty and kills hundreds of miners. I like wind generators because I used to own one on my sailboat and its hummm was the sound of engine noise free power. As a fiscal "conservative" with Libertarian leanings, I fell off the "Global Warming" bandwagon about the time they copy-righted the term "Global Warming" as there own and branded anyone not on board as a heretic to be burned at the stake if possible… No wait that would add to global warming by flames themselves and the deadly CO2 emissions. Most of the remaining fanatics, your "hypocrites" seem to be America's "Progressives" and belong to the Democratic party. They have learned to obey the creed without thinking. They believed Obama deserved the Nobel Prize for just BEING. They believed he also won the debate the other night although he seemed to be half asleep, probably caused by global warming.
