Obama Erases God from Thanksgiving

Who exactly are we supposed to be thankful to? It’s unknown. Possibly Obama, as in the Soviet slogan, “Thank you, Comrade Stalin for our happy childhood.”
As Ben Shapiro points out, this is the 4th year that Obama has eliminated God from Thanksgiving. And it’s going to be eight years thanks to the actions of people who claim to be religious yet voted for a man who declared war on religious freedom in America and whose party eliminated God from its platform and booed His reinclusion.
Yet again, President Obama’s Thanksgiving message eschewed any direct reference to thanking God, making this the fourth straight year in which the President of the United States has ignored the central message of the holiday in favor of political grandstanding.
This year, Obama’s central message was that now that he’s been re-elected, Americans should agree with all of his policies. His unity routine sounds strangely empty after a campaign in which he focused on dividing Americans:
Let’s compare Obama’s approach to Bush’s final Thanksgiving message.
Thanksgiving is a time for families and friends to gather together and express gratitude for all that we have been given, the freedoms we enjoy, and the loved ones who enrich our lives. We recognize that all of these blessings, and life itself, come not from the hand of man but from Almighty God.
Today, as we look back on the beginnings of our democracy, Americans recall that we live in a land of many blessings where every person has the right to live, work, and worship in freedom. Our Nation is especially thankful for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who protect these rights while setting aside their own comfort and safety. Their courage keeps us free, their sacrifice makes us grateful, and their character makes us proud. Especially during the holidays, our whole country keeps them and their families in our thoughts and prayers.
Wasn’t it nice when America had a president, flawed as he might have been? Hopefully after four years we’ll have a president again. And that will be something to be thankful for. That no evil endures forever.
Perhaps in four years, we will even have our religious freedom restored again.
UPDATE: Clare in the comments has Bush’s current Thanksgiving message.
“On this day, let us all give thanks to God who blessed America’s first days and who blesses us today. May He continue to guide and watch over our families and our Nation always. “
