Left Demands James O’Keefe’s Head Over Voter Fraud Exposé

The Left is in a horrible huff. Once again James O’Keefe, the conservative  film-maker who exposed ACORN, has demonstrated the duplicity of the Left. This time he proved why strict voter ID laws, opposed strongly by the Left, are necessary.

In more than 10 minutes of video footage, which has gone viral on the Internet, O’Keefe demonstrated how easy it was in New Hampshire for an individual to pose as a deceased voter and still receive a ballot to vote in an election.

New Hampshire House Speaker William O’Brien, (R-Mont Vernon) called the video “a shocking exclamation point on the need for immediate reform to New Hampshire’s election laws to ensure that voter fraud does not taint the rights of our citizens to have their votes counted in an honest, responsible way and impact our state.”

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch vetoed legislation passed in 2011 requiring photo ID at the polls. Governor Lynch had stated in his veto message that there was “no voter fraud problem in New Hampshire.”

O’Brien begged to differ. He said the House will pass legislation again this year. “Hopefully, this video will shame the Governor into signing it,” O’Brien remarked.

Leftists are trying to divert attention away from the underlying voter fraud issue, which O’Keefe graphically exposed, by going after the messenger. They want to prosecute O’Keefe and his colleagues for allegedly violating federal and state election laws, even though there is no evidence that the conservative activists actually tried to cast the ballots that they received posing as deceased voters.

The far-left Daily Kos and People for the American Way, for example, are circulating a petition asking for the New Hampshire Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney to “thoroughly investigate the actions of James O’Keefe and his operatives.”

The petition accuses O’Keefe of sending “his own agents out to commit fraud.” It claims that O’Keefe’s reason was that “he wants fewer Americans to vote.”

The truth is that all concerned citizens, including O’Keefe, simply want fewer dead or fictional “voters” to be counted in determining the outcome of elections.

New Hampshire’s House Majority Leader DJ Bettencourt (R-Salem) twittered a response to the calls for O’Keefe’s head. “Fascinating some want to prosecute individuals who had guts to prove our election system had huge hole in it. Didn’t actually illegally vote,” he wrote.

You have to show photo ID at your bank, where they know you, to cash a check. Makes no sense not to show ID to vote. Should always have been done. Doesn't bother me at all to show ID. However, criminals always seem to find a way to get what they want, so I don't know what the answer is execpt to make it as hard as possible for them.

What's amazing to me is how none of these people even knew the names requested. Perhaps precincts are bigger in other places. In my precinct, although I don't know many of the people requesting ballots, other judges who are natives in this area know the people. And they know who died recently…of course the election judge system is not manned by pros, but by essentially volunteers, and most are elderly.
I thought the reason for both Dem and Republican judges at elections was to keep each other accountable.

I live in Arizona where TWO forms of ID are required to vote; one has to be a photo ID. To my knowledge, there have been no INDIVIDUAL VOTERS coming forth and claiming they were disenfranchised.

Where's the evidence of a voter fraud problem in New Hampshire that requires a legislative remedy? Just asking. Hey, if I make a video showing how easy it is to buy a gun, strip the serial # and sell it to a criminal, you all will support legislation making it more difficult to buy guns! Nah, didn't think so.

My wife and I moved from NY to NA 11 2001 and when we turned in our old driver's license we were both given voter registration cards. My wife was not a citizen, we married while I was in the military in Germany, and no questions were asked about her status as a citizen. Then in the 2004 election, people from Acorn came to our door asking if my wife was registered to vote. She advised them that she could not vote as she was not a citizen. She was told it did not matter and gave her the form. When she said she would vote for Pres Bush, the women grabed the form and walked away. Happens every day

      False analogy, try again.

And next time, go watch the linked video; that's the evidence.

Coming from Chicago, that bastion of free enterprise, elections are held so democrats can attain office. Who dares to want free elections? They must be subversives.

  15. sedoanman says:

In the California DMV parking lot in the city where I lived, you could buy a fake ID, so I don't see what the Democrats' problem is with getting one that is acceptable at he polls. In fact, when asked for ID at polls in red states, you could probably just look in a mirror and say, "Yup. That's me," and be accepted.

  16. sulmak says:

surveys from 4 years ago show overwhelming majorities of people in favor of voter ID laws. Though less now, they still show overwhelming majorities in favor of it.

The fact that half of politicians are so against this is all the proof I need that voter fraud is a problem, and that voter ID's would help

LIBERAL REPORTER: Well, folks, there you have it. All dead people should be allowed to vote…it would be unconscionable to deny them that basic American right that we all take for granted.

  18. Edisa says:

Mike Huckaby's solution: Require voter registration certificates to carry a photo of each voter. Digital cameras are portable, so that voters unable to appear at the courthouse could have the equipment come to them via a deputy voter registrar. This eliminates the difficulty of adding a cost to the voter in order to be registered.

  19. rollinson says:

Committing voter fraud should be subject to a firing squad upon conviction and carried out by supporters of the opposition to the fraudulent one’s candidate!!

  20. Rudy Tidwell says:

Voter fraud, such as "dead people voting" is not new by any stretch of the imagination! Democrats, even in heavily democratic sections, have resorted to this despicable practice for many years. In one small town where I lived, I saw more people whom I had never seen before in my life. They were met in the parking lot and whispering was going on and quite obviously money was exchanged. Then the "voters" went in and voted, and the voting officials knew exactly what was happening! Reallly…It happens all over!!

  21. rjw918 says:

    >>They want to prosecute O’Keefe and his colleagues for allegedly violating federal and state election laws, even though there is no evidence that the conservative activists actually tried to cast the ballots

The crime they apparently committed was just obtaining the ballots under false pretenses.

Our founders taught us that “That to secure these [inalienable] rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Trying to block whole groups of people from voting undercuts the legitimacy of our government.

BTW, the past few weeks have had other reports of voter fraud – by Republicans:
    http://www.toledoblade.com/Politics/2012/02/03/Elections-board-ends-registration-of-GOP-operative.html
    and
“Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White (R) was convicted on six felony counts of voter fraud, theft, and perjury and removed from his office. …. White accused Gov. Mitch Daniels of similar crimes, claiming his fellow Indiana Republican voted incorrectly in “the last ten straight elections.”

Yeah, there is real voter fraud out there. Too bad it seems to be primarily a GOP thing.

He is word slinger of more than 50 announce statement. This turn of phrase has been put in action by a number of reporter.

  23. sedoanman says:

"If the Leftists are trying to accuse O’Keefe over voter fraud issue, they should try even harder to pass the voter fraud law to prove they really care about preventing the voter fraud from happening!"

The trick is, of course, to write such a law so that it prevents only their opposition from voting.
