Name the really bad actor who wants to be governor by attacking the Bill of Rights.
Matthew McConaughey is not leaving his emotional pleas for tighter gun laws up to chance and the appeal of his celebrity. He’s turning to K Street too.
Following a spate of recent mass shootings including the massacre last month in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas that killed 19 schoolchildren and two teachers, the award-winning actor has retained a team of lobbyists at D.C. firm Avisa Partners to represent him in the nation’s capital.
Isn’t that what all celebrities who feel strongly about something do, hire a team of lobbyists?
Avisa Partners is a strange choice.
Avisa Partners, founded in France in 2010, is present in Paris, Brussels, London, Berlin and now Washington. The group brings together under one roof an ecosystem of professionals in the fields of competitive intelligence, public affairs, international relations, cybersecurity and digital communications. Avisa Partners is a flagship European firm on the issues of online influence, the fight against misinformation, and the fight against counterfeiting.
What you really want is a French firm with a background in “competitive intelligence” lobbying American elected officials.
Avisa’s client list seems heavy on telecoms and financial companies. They’re usually corporate lobbyists rather than culture warriors. But they’re there for the GOP access. And we’re seeing the usual transactionalism of the swamp in action here.
Noe Garcia, a one time aide to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist; John Procter, a former Pentagon press secretary; and Mike Rubino, a Trump administration alum, were retained to help coordinate McConaughey’s meetings in Washington for the whirlwind trip.
What’s it gonna take to drain this swamp? Especially when some of the folks claiming to want to drain it, go swimming in it instead.
Avisa Partners, a global firm specialized in managing sensitive matters, today announced it has expanded beyond continental Europe and named Eric Bovim as CEO of its U.S. operations. Bovim will lead Avisa Partners U.S. from Washington, D.C.
Bovim, a former foreign correspondent for Reuters in Madrid and an international strategic communications consultant who launched his first company in 2007, joined Avisa Partners in mid-September to set up the company’s Washington DC operations. Bovim will oversee the expansion of Avisa’s presence in the U.S. market, which already accounts for 15% to 25% of the Group’s revenue.
