In Defense of Brad Pitt’s Mom

You want ugly? When word of Mrs. Pitt’s letter spread on social media late last week, Twitter lit up with a stream of death threats, smears and slurs. My Twitter curation site, Twitchy.com, compiled just some of the vile bile aimed at Mrs. Pitt for supporting traditional values and standing up for the unborn:

“BRAD PITT’S MOM WROTE AN ANTI-GAY PRO-ROMNEY EDITORIAL. KILL THE B***H.”

“Brad Pitt’s mom, die”

“F*** you, Brad Pitt’s mom. The gay community made your kid a star, you whacko.”

“Brad Pitt’s mother…what a brainless old b***h…”

“Brad Pitt’s Mom Slams Obama, Gays. That stand makes her a deluded, dumba** Fascist Repuke”

“I hope Brad Pitt has been supporting his mother and decides to cut her off. What a b***h.”

“Brad Pitt’s mom can choke on a (redacted).”

The usual civility police were in their usual place when the No H8 bullies mauled Mrs. Pitt: nowhere to be found. Brad Pitt also has been silent so far. His brother, Doug, did try, if a bit too meekly, to defend his mom on Monday in an interview with NBC’s “Today” show:

“You know, I think moms and dads and kids agree to disagree all over the world. So why would our family be any different?” he said. “There can be healthy discussion when people disagree with you. The bad thing is when it turns to venom and negativity, and we don’t have that in our family. It’s open discussion. We can learn from each other, and if anything, it solidifies your point. Or maybe you learn something.”

Learn something from us “deluded, dumba** Fascist Repukes”? Heaven forfend. The overwhelming majority of Hollywood libs live in a fantasyland bubble where every Obama critic is a racist, every pro-life activist is a terrorist and every defender of traditional marriage is a Neanderthal. Hold a mirror up to their hatred, and they’ll call it an incitement to hatred.

Ironically, the iconic “No H8″ campaign logo features celebrities with their mouths taped shut with duct tape to symbolize how they’ve purportedly been silenced. It’s classic psychological projection from the practitioners of repressive tolerance.

    Mrs. Pitt has a right to her opinion. She also has a right to express it. That is the American way. Calling her names is childish and foolish. As a Christian, I believe homosexuality is a sin. I also believe that because of the nature of God, he loves "gay" people. However, that does not mean that he approves of the sexuality that is being pushed as just "another alternative". God's Word makes it very clear that homosexuality in all of its variations, is sinful and should not be granted special civil rights status. Mrs. Pitt has made it clear that abortion and homosexuality are wrong. Where is her famous son? Why hasn't he stepped forward to protect his mother's right to free speech. So since my mom passed away several years ago, I'll just say, "you go Mrs. Pitt, some of us are proud of your stand and impressed by your courage.

    Mrs. Pitt sounds like a very sweet lady and it looks like Brad loves her. I wonder if he has a feel for how George and Laura Bush felt when he and Jennifer Aniston went off on their daughters. That was awful because they were just children at the time.

    Will Brad come to the defense of his own mother or will he let others, including his own Hollywood zealots, spit on her?

    We all know of occasions where we have heard siblings saying mean things about their own TO EACH OTHER but when someone else says "Your sister is a ho" then that brother, who has called his sister that to her face too, instead comes to her defense and might even attack his own friend. THAT IS HONOR! IF YOU CAN'T PROTECT THE HONOR OF YOUR OWN FAMILY MEMBERS, WHOSE CAN YOU PROTECT?

    Will Brad though be the Leftist that he is and add to the insults, which they call "reason" and that his mother "is crazy and delusional"?

    I already have list of Hollywood actors that I refuse to watch and to pay for their movie and I eagerly await Brad's response and defense, or lack thereof, of his own mother!

    Mom said nothing wrong. She stated what are public facts and her opinion of Obama, which she has every right to do.

    Yes, not that Romney represents God necessarily, but as between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, a vote for Romney is indeed a vote for God as opposed to Mammon in our national life.

    To Mother Pitt, I strongly recommend a Personal Handgun Self-Defense course, together with lots of practice. Also, it would be prudent to obtain a Concealed Carry Permit.

        I totally agree with the sentiment expressed in your post, but I'm curious as to where in the Bible you think it authorizes "the right to defend the life he gives." could you please provide me with the book, chapter and verse? I would like to read anything that even comes close to doing that.

        It would seem to me that a person is authorized to "kill" in the line of duty, such as a policeman or a soldier, but this is inferred and not stated. The necessary inferrence would be in the case of Cornellius, a roman centurian and soldier in the book of Acts. After he became a Christain, he was still a soldier and would be required to kill if necessary in pursuit of his service.

        I am a Christain and I have a CHL and many firearms. I don't agree with the position held by super mom.

          Well, I don't know that there's any particular Biblical passage devoted to the idea that a person has "the right to defend the life he gives" (I assume that "he" is God), but there IS the story of Moses striking down the Egyptian overseer in defense of himself or others. On the other hand, there's the story of Jesus admonishing Peter for striking the Roman soldier with his sword when they came to arrest Him. But then there's the story of Samson bringing down the building on multitudes of those who would mock the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Then, of course, although it doesn't involve the use of deadly force, there IS the Book of Job, who defends his life against Satan's attacks and ultimately receives God's blessings for doing so. Of course, Cain did strike down Abel and was punished, but then Jacob wrestled with the angel and was blessed. And of course, included in God's gift of Canaan to the Hebrews was the obligation, endorsed by God, to drive out the Canaanites, killing them if necessary.

          You don't mean "inferred;" you mean "implied."

          I don't recall any part of the Bible being concerned with the morality of using force, deadly or otherwise, in defense of one's self or others. It doesn't seem to have come up in the Biblical stories. My personal take on that is that the books of the Bible were written by people in a context in which personal self-defense and the killing of one's enemies was taken for granted as a fact of life.

          Also, the Bible deals with God's relationship with mankind, not with individuals defending themselves from other humans, so it's not coming up seems understandable.

            Very thoughful answer. I think I agree with your assessment. I was just wondering if I had missed something somewhere. And, yes, the right of self defense would be implied. There is also a term called "Neccessary Inference" which is a logical conclusion that is drawn as they relate to known facts. Here is an example.

            The New Testament teaches that valid baptism requires both belief and repentance (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38), and inasmuch as babies can not believe, nor do they need to repent (seeing they have no sin), it follows necessarily that infants are not amenable to baptism. The logical use of necessary inference eliminates the sectarian practice of “infant baptism.”

As members of a minority, we might be able to claim certain preferences on a collective basis. We could also go to church together and try to get right with God.     I've got a feeling that Brad Pitt might not want to open his mouth and defend his mom,lest he lose any work that he might want. I've been on a couple of anime websites and sometimes I've voice my opinion of a subgenre of anime and manga called yaoi and yuri. Basically,they're also known as Boy's Love and Girl's Love anime and manga. Sometimes,I've voiced my opinions on this and I've been attacked for doing so. For one thing,I don't want to touch BL or GL stuff because it's not for me. I was almost banned for expressing that opinion on ONE website because I expressed it in a very harsh manner. Even some of my more milder criticisms of this on another anime website brought nearly the same reaction from someone else.
    I think the reaction to this is stupid but it intimidated Brad Pitt enough to simply remain silent. I think in some ways,I know how he feels. I admit that Mrs. Pitt's views may seem old-fashioned but they're her opinions and no one has the right to threaten her life just because she stated her opinions.

    We need more such truthtellers and fewer fascists who censor inconvenient truths. Truths like a homosexual mind in a heterosexual body, like a female mind in a male body, is a sure sign that something went wrong somewhere, in either nature and/or nurture. Homosexuality is clearly a disorder, and it is immoral to treat a disorder as though it's not a disorder. Also, it's ironic that homosexual groups "discriminate" against other sexual aberrants, like consenting-adult incestuous people and consenting-adult exhibitionists, and polygamists. Homosexual groups have not included these other sexual aberrants in their rainbow coalition. The hypocrisy is delicious.

      I find it ineresting that gay people have no qualms whatsoever about imposing their sense of values on the rest of us regardless of consequences, but are outraged by points of view that deviate from theirs. I speak particularly of same-sex marriage and its effect on the commonly-held and universal approach to marriage; that can be smashed to flinders, rightly or wrongly, in the name of equality or some such, but let someone say they're wrong and it's name-calling and death threats. How easily threatened such people are! Their position must be very precarious.
