A Just Verdict in the Rachel Corrie Case

Later other ISM activists were injured when they put themselves in the middle of firefights, started when the PLO would fire on Israelis, and – like Corrie – they were injured.  One other died trying to protect those terrorists from Israelis shooting back. In the case of the death of ISM member Tom Hurndall, the ISM led a worldwide campaign to demonize the soldier who shot him. Ironically, it turned out the soldier who shot Hurndall was an Arab Bedouin patriot living in Israel and serving in the Israeli military.

Corrie’s parents have been serving as a SWAT team of Israel bashing and as apologists for their daughter’s terrorist comrades and for her behavior.  They frequently come to Gaza to show their support for the same Hamas terrorists their daughter served.  Ironically, on one occasion the terrorists kidnapped the Corrie parents, but then quickly released them when it became clear that they were far more valuable assets for terrorism while they run about free.   The Corrie lobby has never had any interest in any of the Rachels, Jewish women named Rachel, who were victims of the Palestinian terrorists assisted by Rachel and her ISM friends.  And there have been quite a few of those.  The Corries have been leading the jihad against the Caterpiller company because it sells equipment to Israel.

When the Corrie parents began their legal assault against Israel here in Haifa where I live, I published the following “greeting” to them.  I reprint here a small excerpt, which is still relevant:

The city of Haifa is still recovering from the trauma of the summer of 2006, when it, along with the rest of northern Israel, was targeted by thousands of Katyusha rockets, fired from southern Lebanon by Hizbullah terrorists. Haifa has also been targeted by several suicide bombers who carried out mass murders against civilians in buses and restaurants.  Now Haifa is about to become the victim of yet another indignity. It is to be the scene for a legal assault by the parents of Rachel Corrie….

You (the parents) have stated, “She (Rachel) had been working in Rafah with a nonviolent resistance organization, the International Solidarity Movement, trying to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes and wells.”

Homes and wells, huh?

Well, she was not. Rachel was trying to prevent the demolition of tunnels used to smuggle weapons for Palestinian terrorists seeking to murder Jewish civilians. … Your daughter was in a war zone as a belligerent, on behalf of a movement of Arab fascists seeking to destroy Israel and murder as many Jews as possible. ..

You demand that we feel your pain at the loss of your daughter, yet your daughter conscripted herself as an accomplice for those seeking to murder my children. You feel no pain for the scores of martyrs in my own city of Haifa murdered by those same terrorists.

Your write, “Clearly, our daughter has become a positive symbol for people.”

I am afraid you are mistaken. Your daughter has become a symbol for dangerous foolhardiness. She essentially committed suicide as an empty gesture to assist murderers and terrorists.

You want the world to mourn for your daughter, who died while working with monsters out to murder our children. On the pages of anti-Semitic propaganda web magazines you denounce Israel, but you do not have a single word of sympathy for the families of the thousands of innocent Israeli victims of the terrorists with whom your daughter chose to ally herself.

On behalf of the citizens of Haifa, all of whom your daughter’s Hamas friends are trying to murder, I remain,

Steven Plaut

  5. Elizabeth says:

yup – 'They' will always blame Israel.
'They' will do whatever they want to Israel, but Israel had better not try to defend itself lest it be judged by the world for deaths that may result.

  6. oldtimer says:

The Corrie's, 0, , it's always someone elses fault. She supported terrorists, she should not have been there.

  7. Schlomotion says:

"It is now official" Israel has successfully let fly another whopper of a lie based on the idea that there are special spaces where Muslims threaten Jews so severely that checkpoints and the killing of American citizens is absolutely necessary, unavoidable, and not their fault even if they do it on purpose and enjoy it.

Israel has found that Rachel Corrie was slaughtered with with respect and compassion, and therefore the rules of shechita have been upheld.

    • Stern says:

1,000 Jews killed by suicide bombers and other terrorists at the same time Corrie committed suicide, and you still think checkpoints are not "absolutely necessary"?

And then to accuse Israel of killing Americans "on purpose and enjoy(ing) it". Incidentally, that's a blood libel, which is hardly surprising, coming from you.

Perhaps we should change your moniker to bowelmotion. It would be a heck of a lot more appropriate to the kind of crap you spout.

      • Corrective Ed says:

It is more like 2000 Jews murdered by the savages since Oslo

      • Schlomotion says:

I didn't accuse anything. I stated a fact. You can brand that with all the tribalist swear words you want. In the end your philosophy sums up to: "We didn't do it, and we'll gladly do it again."

Rachel Corrie saw Wang Weilin face down a row of tanks in Communist China and mistakenly believed that the power of morality could stop a bulldozer driven by an Israeli. It's a tragedy, but rather than prove that Rachel Corrie deserved it, as you people like to say, it simply proves that Israel ranks below the Red Chinese in humanity.

        • Foolster41 says:

No facts at all. You can't prove that they" do it on purpose and enjoy it. ".
You also didn't answer how the checkpoints are not nessicery, or how destroying tunnels for smuggling weapons is wrong considering the thousands of attacks against Jews, and the genocidal hatred from HAMAS and their supporters like Jordan and Iran.

One gets the impression you want Israel to drop all their defenses and allow the terrorism against them to continue with less hinderance, but that must be my imagination!

    • ziontruth says:

Anyone who supports Islamic imperialism will eventually share the fate of the Islamic imperialists. Corrie was just the first case.

    • There are no such "special spaces". Wherever Muslims are threatening Jews or other innocent people, it is appropriate to respond with deadly force in order to stop their acts of savagery. That goes as well for their collaborators, such as Rachel Corrie, and if the collaborator happens to have a U.S. passport it only makes her that much more reprehensible.

Of course, the foregoing would apply if the Israelis had killed Corrie deliberately. As it were, her death was either suicide or not a very tragic accident caused by her irrational hatred for Israel.

      • tagalog says:

The judge made the finding that Corrie lost balance and slipped under the blade of the earth mover and could not be seen when the earth mover moved. Her death was an accident.

      • Schlomotion says:

There is no such thing as a "response with deadly force" using a bulldozer to "stop the act of savagery" of waving your arms. Look at the lengths you go to just to construct a sentence that makes killing a girl look morally sound. That's very fascist of you. Then again you confuse the United States with Brazil and are an Integralista whose ideological master is Plínio Salgado. Eu cuspo em suas botas.

    • Andy says:

Schlo, you could win an International Oscar as a super-irritant and many of us would celebrate if had been you instead of pretty little Corrie that was killed by that earth mover.

    • Advocatus says:

Schlomo, Schlomo, you're wasting your time. Rather than keep posting the same predictable comments again and again, day after day, here, why don't you better spend your time developing an app for brainless anti-Zionist rants. There could be some money in it for you, considering the size of the potential market for such an app. Yes?

      • Stern says:

And it would be so easy too. Schlobowelmotion already has all the standard nonsense down pat. he just has to push a button and out it spews.

    • pagegl says:

If someone were to shoot at me I would shoot back; it's as simple as that. Israel is defending itself. Personally, I believe that Israel has been too tolerant of Islamic terror and should deliver an ass-whooping that is commensurate with the abuses it has suffered.

You'd love it if more Jews died, don't you,Schlomotion? You and your Jew hating pals would love that, wouldn't you?

    • SCREW SOCIALISM says:

Schlockmoron, PLEASE follow Rachel Corries path and sit in front of an oncoming bulldozer.

  8. Stern says:

The link to the Mother Jones article in this piece doesn't work. here it is: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2003/09/death

It's worth reading, because it demonstrates that at best, Corrie was a "useful idiot", taken in by the ISM and Palestinian propaganda, while at worst, she was a deliberate provocateur, seeking to make the IDF look as bad as possible, purely to convince the Palestinians that she really meant business. There's a very interesting few sentences that tell about how, just before her death, a letter had been circulating among the Palestinians complaining about people like her:

    From the article:
""Who are they? Why are they here? Who asked them to come here?" it asked. The letter referred to Corrie and the other expatriate women in Rafah as "nasty foreign bitches" whom "our Palestinian young men are following around." It was a sobering reminder that outsiders — even international do-gooders — were untrustworthy in the eyes of some Palestinians."

So, to become "trustworthy", Corrie became even more reckless. Unfortunately, she also became yet one more "martyr" to the Palestinian cause of death.

  9. Tanstaafl jw says:

It's now official. Mohammed killed Jews.

  10. Schlomotion says:

It is now official. I am a horse's patoot who hates dem Joos because my pecker is so tiny. Why oh why did I never finish junior high school?

  11. Stern says:

The link to the Mother Jones article doesn't work. But if you go to Mother Jones and search for "Corrie", you'll find it.

Most interesting part is where the article tells us that the Palestinians were beginning to criticize all the "do-gooder" "foreign bitches" for leading their young men astray. It was just after a letter complaining this came to light that Corrie and her pals decided to up the ante and become even more active. A day or two later, Corrie was dead, proving that at best, she was yet another useful idiot at the hands of the ISM, while at worst, she was a defender of terrorists and their methods.

  12. Mahmood Ibrahim says:

the ISM should be held accountable to her death, but her parents chose to sue the wrong entity, stupid on their part, but they might realize it later.

  13. Zionista says:

St. pancake got what she deserves.

  14. patriotwork says:

Slo, not as tiny as your brain.

  15. tagalog says:

In disallowing the Corrie lawsuit, the judge in the case made a finding of fact that the ISM holds itself out as a non-violent organization, but expresses its philosophy (such as it may be) through violent means, and therefore must be deemed to be a violent organization.

Thank God for a judge who can see clearly.

The article says, "On March 16, 2003 she decided to play chicken with a large Israeli earth mover." And they call US the stupid party. Earth Mover 1, Rachel Corrie 0.

Compare the Rachel Corrie lawsuit with the lawsuit over the Oakland antiwar protestor, Brian Wilson, who sat down in front of a munitions train and got run over back in the 1970s or 1980s. Wilson got almost a million dollars. No doubt Corrie's parents expected something similar.

    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Willson

  16. Drakken says:

Another useful idiot of the left who hated her country and openly sided with muslim jihadist, she got what she deserved, a well earned Darwin Award. Traitors like her deserve no praise but contempt.

    • Questions says:

What does Charles Darwin have to do woith this? This was a case of a disturbed woman, looking for a sense of Purpose, who found it in the worst kind of radicalism. Darwin wouldn't have approved of her. Neither do I.

      • Kufar Dawg says:

If you google the words "Darwin Award" you'll see that it isn't the kind of award that honors the recipient. I would say it does just the opposite.

  17. pyeatte says:

The Corrie parents are partly responsible for their daughters death because they encouraged and supported her activities in Gaza.

  18. Raymond in DC says:

My only regret in the court judgement is that the Judge didn't order the plaintiffs (Corries) to pay the defendant's court costs. THAT would certainly discourage such lawsuits in the future. Unlike the US State Department and their ambassador to Israel, I can't see how their case ever merited US support. Most recently they indicated that the Corries could still appeal to the High Court – as if they deserve it.

  19. Rothschild says:

I agree with the decision…if the Israeli soldiers were fired upon where they went to protest, then it was a war zone… the protesters that went there, were likely to be fake protesters…as a liberal pacifist myself, I know that we are trained to avoid war zones; only well trained pacifists go into war zones, on a rare basis, but aways in a non confrontational way with soldiers when in a war zone.

I'm curious was she, or anyone she knew a communist, in any way? I am not in Israel, so I have no way to research this.

  20. Ghostwriter says:

I don't really have an opinion on Rachel Corrie. She doesn't really effect my life in any meaningful way.

    • Schlomotion says:

Perhaps she would affect your life in a meaningful way if you were an actual writer who took a personal stake in the effects of his own deeds.

      • Drakken says:

Please by all means go to a war zone and protest like that useful idiot Corrie, you deserve the same fate.

  21. amused says:

I'll go with Mother Jones on this, she ws a usefull idiot . As for her even dumber parents ? They are relegated now to travel the world and try to make their daughters death meaningfull for they failed as parents . The Palestinians ? They're laughing at her , how come no palestinians got pancaked ?

  22. JJJihad says:

Gosh. After reading Plaut's balanced and deliberate analysis and all of the supportive comments, I am certainly persuaded that Corrie was a rabid terrorist who forced herself underneath that bulldozer to make her suicide look like a murder committed by a member of the most moral army in the world. How any one could doubt the pure, noble and humanitarian intentions of the Israeli people and Zionists everywhere — much less 99% of the world–defies understanding!

    • tagalog says:

It was neither suicide nor murder. Rachel Corrie slipped and fell in front of the bulldozer. The blade of the bulldozer obscured the vision of the operator. She could not be seen by the operator, and her death was an accident.

Common sense should have told her that it was risky to put herself in such a position, where serious risk to life and limb exists, but she was so undoubtedly imbued with the righteousness of her position that she just assumed everyone would automatically step aside for her. Unfortunately for her, that was not the case. There are many people who behave that way, who assume that they are in right and everyone knows it, and must make way for them.

  23. twinsided says:

great, just when I thought people were smart enough too see through all the manipulative journalism i come across this. This article is looped with more holes then a slice of Swiss cheese, all of you are calling this women a terrorist for defending the Palestinians against the atrocities that have been committed against them. If you haven't noticed by now every major media refers to these people as pro terrorist with no exception or fault found within their own department. the so called tunnels is the only means for the refugees of gaza to access nutrition since the Israeli gov has stopped all export and import of goods into the gaza strip, leaving the people helpless and forced to rely on the support of hamas.

if thats not enough to raise questions over isrealis actions against the palestanians then plz hear this, the residents of the gaza strip are daily casualties of cluster bombs, white phosphorus gas and are at the mercy of the Israeli militants. IM NOT SUPPORTING HAMAS!! but im sure id have a different opinon of them if i was rained on by bullets, bombs and gas stop depriving this population of basic human rights and we wouldnt have people like rachel corrie being run over by bulldozers

PEACE AND LOVE EVERYBODY, terrorist is a title that can be put over anybody's head by the opposing side

history is written by the victor – winston churchill

  24. israebest says:

Terrorists choose their place and time of death; Rachel Corrie chose her place and time of death!
    Bingo!

  25. israebest says:

twistided – You have the Chutzpah to talk about "manipulative journalism" and you yourself doing the same, at the same breath. The fact is that she worked with and for terror organizations, no matter how you choose to call them.
You also say that "the Israeli gov has stopped all export and import of goods into the Gaza strip" – that is a big lie! 200-300 Israeli trucks bring merchandise 6 days a week to the border gates. Even through "Cast Lead" and "Pillar of Cloud", 150 trucks a day entered the gates. So your effort to spread lies is pathetic.
More, the residents of the gaza strip are NOT daily casualties of cluster bombs, white phosphorus gas… and your other demagogic weapons. Israel doesn't attack in Gaza if Gaza doesn't fire on Israel. You can see that phenomena in the last 2 months. Any way Israel doesn't use cluster bombs in the war against Gazan terror groups and uses white phosphorus (it not a gas as your proPALganda asked you to write) just for masking and hiding the soldiers from the terror forces at times of rare ground operations in Gaza.

IM NOT SUPPORTING ISRAEL but I want to be the truth clear and known to all.
