For a decade or more, Americans have been all too aware of al Qaeda and their desire to destroy us, led by Osama bin Laden. This week, many finally felt the closure they had been seeking with the death of bin Laden. This weeks’ March 26th “March for the Alternative” is being sold as the grassroot action of frustrated citizens. Yet, as is typically the case with such events, it actually comes back to the same handful of people and groups.

With the kick off of the new American Idol, we need to ask ourselves, what are we teaching our children? That fame is the answer to all of life’s problems? That talent is only useful if it brings fame? Or individual talent is a priceless gift in itself.
