Anti-Israel Hypocrisy at the UN

The Left has raised hypocrisy to epic heights in the post-9/11 world.
Conservatives who are still under the delusion that they can persuade the Left to tone down their rhetorical attacks and play nice would do well to check out Howard Kurtz’s latest column on the Daily Beast, which gives us yet another round of hypocritical finger waving over the Republican Party’s “liability on the fringe.”
Funny, isn’t it, to watch leftists in the media and politics praise President Obama for catching an enormous fish like Osama bin Laden – all the while studiously ignoring the prominent monogram on his pole and tackle: a big flashing neon-red Dubya.
Don’t get me wrong. Our current president deserves credit for not flushing the seven years of painstaking intelligence that George W. Bush doggedly gathered while Obama and his leftist cohorts repeatedly poked him in the eyes and whacked him on the knees – I’m just wondering whether the apology will be delivered to Crawford in person or by Western Union.
The University of Iowa College Republicans’ Conservative Coming Out Week has a simple message—conservatives are people too, they aren’t alone, and they don’t need to fear discrimination on college campuses like liberal Iowa City. Leave it to faculty left-wingers, to show their true feelings of tolerance.
Oh, and we’re not done with the onslaught of violence and vitriol on behalf of the unions and the educational establishment, either. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Wisconsin resident Katherine Windels is now facing felony charges for death threats she made against state Republican lawmakers.
Not content to let Eric Alterman have all the fun of belittling Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Daily Beast writer John Avlon has joined the Bachmann bashing bandwagon, too. The Beast’s resident “extremism” hand-wringer is taking a more roundabout approach, suggesting that Bachmann is symptomatic of a broader radicalization of Minnesota, for which she and Gov. Tim Pawlenty “are going to have to answer for.”
Too often, the way conservatives are portrayed in the media is more a reflection of leftist traits than conservative behavior. If conservatives are as contemptible as the Left posits, an honest portrayal of them should be enough to demonstrate their negative impulses, yet much of how they are depicted in the media is exaggeration, amalgamation, and falsehood.
Discussing perceived political angles to tragedies, especially as they’re happening, is always touchy. Even if there is a valid policy observation to be made, you’re opening yourself up to ready-made accusations of insensitivity, partisanship, and opportunism. So it should come as little surprise that the leftist smear merchants at Media Matters are raking Sean Hannity over the coals for a “five-minute Obama-bashing session” during his coverage of the disaster in Japan.
A comment from someone named Peter Smillie on Alexander Levkovsky’s post on Israel and Iran:
you are all mental. you move you families from the safety of america into a war zone, and blame it on ‘insane neigbours’ If i want my children to grow up safe i wouldnt take them to a patch of barren [...]
