The timing of the two are closely intertwined. Morsi’s comments had been around for a while. A staged condemnation of them however would allow the White House to posture as pro-Israel at an extremely critical period.

The timing of the two are closely intertwined. Morsi’s comments had been around for a while. A staged condemnation of them however would allow the White House to posture as pro-Israel at an extremely critical period.

There’s apparently a context that it would be alright in, though what that context is remains unknown. Perhaps the politicians who insist on sending Morsi hundreds of millions of dollars and powerful armaments can enlighten us.

Senator McCain disapproves of calling Jews the “descendants of apes and pigs”, endorsing Hamas and calling for the destruction of Israel. He just doesn’t disapprove enough to hold up the 480 million dollar bailout of Morsi’s regime.

Morsi’s statements called for the destruction of Israel and for terrorist attacks on Jews around the world. This isn’t about bigotry, it’s about the Obama Administration arming a man who makes Ahmadinejad look like a moderate.

“We must never forget, brothers, to nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred for them: for Zionists, for Jews,” Mr. Morsi declared. Egyptian children “must feed on hatred; hatred must continue,” he said. “The hatred must go on for Allah and as a form of worshiping him.”

Retired Brigadier General Safwat Al-Zayat said, “It is obvious that the finalisation of the deal on 11 December, which happened to be at the height of the mass demonstrations in Tahrir Square against Morsi, conveyed a political message.”

Morsi calls Jews the “descendants of apes and pigs”, a racist way that the Koran refers to Jews, taking this out of the realm of a foreign policy difference and into old-fashioned racism. This is not even about Israel, it’s about Jews, as becomes obvious when Morsi says, “They have been fanning the flames of civil strife wherever they were throughout history.”

It’s much easier to be Jon Stewart in America. But life isn’t good for Egyptian Jon Stewart, because Jimmy Carter II has done for Egypt, what the original Jimmy did for Iran. And it’s illegal to mock the new Muslim Brotherhood Fuhrer.

Morsi was arrested during the protests due to suspicions that he was inciting against the government. In a military operation, members of al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, and activists affiliated with Hezbollah breached the prison where he was being held and he along with other senior officials were freed.

50,000 Islamists marched through the provincial capital, Assiut, chanting that Egypt will be “Islamic, Islamic, despite the Christians.” At their head rode several bearded men on horseback with swords in scabbards on their hips, evoking images of early Muslims conquering Christian Egypt in the 7th Century.
