In Israel, two wings of the progressive movement are set to clash, and hopefully take each other out in a blaze of stupid, while the rest of us point and laugh… the environmentalist movement and the jihad movement are about to go to war. Or, if they had any shreds of intellectual honesty, they would.
Palestinian Authority insults the US – and no one says a word
The Palestinian Authority is officially calling the United States an “obstacle to peace.” It is saying that the US – a nation that has worked harder than any other to bring about peace, a nation that brokered Camp David – cannot be an honest broker in negotiations. Whether you agree or disagree with the present administration, this press release is an unacceptable slap in the face of the world’s superpower by an entity that cannot conceive of the idea of compromise for peace.
Yet the US has not said a word in response.

I believe that it is worthwhile however to examine one of the early images of the revolt against the rule of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. The fact that it was a complex amalgam of forces that joined together in the streets of Tunis was brought home to me in a photo (above) in the January 25, 2011 issue of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

At the end of February J Street will be holding its second national conference in Washington. Some of its leadership (and much of its base) have shown that they have lost patience with its program and are taking a much more radical stance. They even started using the language of the PLO and Hamas to attack Israel.
