What was the real ‘trigger’ for Mohamad Barakat, the Muslim terrorist who prepped for a mass murder of Americans at a local fair, before stopping to open fire on police officers and was himself shot and killed.
The authorities still claim that they don’t know why a Syrian Muslim named Mohamad might have wanted to go ahead and try to carry out a massacre, but the media is really excited about his ‘binary trigger’.
In a truly surreal article headlined, “the Fargo shooter used a binary trigger. Here’s what to know about the device that’s worrying police”, the AP doesn’t even mention Mohamad’s name until the third paragraph.It then only mentions his name only one more time while focusing largely on his trigger.
What’s the real trigger that made Mohamad do it, Islam or a ‘binary trigger’?
CNN, ABC News, CBS News and many others have already run features on the exciting ‘binary trigger’ and how the real problem is a lack of binary trigger control.
The binary trigger must have made Mohamad do it.
If only there were no binary triggers, we would finally be safe from Syrians, Iraqis, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Somalis, and other binary trigger lovers who want to kill us in the name of their binary trigger. They are said to believe that the binary trigger is sacred and that all must bow to it and worship it. And that those infidels who will not kowtow to the binary trigger, triggers them and leads to killing sprees.
But there may be an answer. Instead of trying to ban mechanical devices, perhaps we should consider whether we could use fewer binary trigger lovers moving to this country whose love for the binary trigger might trigger them into causing us harm.
You write as if you’re surprised by the progressive take, Daniel. I can only assume that you are not. A gun, or as in this case a “binary trigger”, has never once killed anyone, despite what they’ve have you believe. Terrorists with agendas on the other hand…

A new diversion from facing the facts.
Sir Francis Burton had some interesting psychological insights into the muslims already in the mid 1800s.
One group was classified as always ready to attack, their behavior unchangeable. Burton criticized the British government for trying to appease them in order to change their behavior, the same mistake we are making now.
I’m always trying to find tactical methods to reduce the problem, like checkpoints, traffic patrols checking for illegal weapons and safety violations in muslim areas, and impoundment of unsafe vehicles. Burton advocated tougher measures. I’m not against tougher measures, it’s just an interesting intellectual problem to find effective tactical means.
Burton was so cool. You should read the “Riverworld” speculative fiction novels by Philip Jose Farmer. Burton was the protagonist. I thought the afterlife as a winding river around the world was lame but the stories are cool because they have characters from throughout history in them. And Farmer was a good writer. Even my mother liked those stories, and she hates everything.

Surreal, indeed. Are there triggers that aren’t “binary”? Perhaps defective ones that might or might not fire when you pull them? Do we need “trans” triggers? Non-binary triggers? Questioning triggers? And are police really worrying about the “binary” trigger – whatever that means – more than the shooter’s motive? Unfortunately, in this era of PC policing, we can’t rule it out.
