The joy is overwhelming. And nothing says joy like riots. Joyous mostly peaceful riots that require lots of plywood.
Businesses in downtown Chicago have started boarding up their doors and windows ahead of next week’s Democratic National Convention, when thousands of anti-Israeli protesters are expected to descend on the Windy City.
Boarded up windows and doors could be seen downtown Thursday
“As we know, this city has a poor track record when it comes to protecting businesses,” said Scott Shapiro, owner of Syd Jerome.
The looming unknowns ahead of next week’s convention are why Shapiro said he knew he had to take precautions to keep his decades-old business safe.
“We felt it was more prudent to board up, since our customers and their employers have told them to stay home throughout the convention for their own safety,” Shapiro said.
Other downtown businesses are also taking precautions, like the Garland Building on North Wabash Avenue and Washington Street, which houses multiple office spaces, stores and restaurants. Chicago Board-Up Services has been quite busy.
“We’re boarding them up tight, so that there’s no entry,” said Vicki Fichter, owner of Chicago Board-Up Services.
Things are so great in Chicago that there’s a professional board-up company. But it’s all peaceful. So peaceful that members of Congress are being told to hide their identities.
House Democrats attending the Democratic National Convention next week are being advised by congressional security officials not to book hotel rooms under their own names or engage with protesters if confronted, Axios has learned.
One House Democrat told Axios they are “very concerned” about their personal security and that “of course” other lawmakers are as well.
A senior House Democrat said law enforcement is telling members “not to go to a certain area, because they expect violence.”
The joy is overwhelming. It’s so joyous that it’s best to use an alias. And avoid certain areas because of all the joyous violence.

If the city is burning down outside the walled convention, will the media even mention it?

I think the dem convention will in fact be mostly peaceful, other than the usual robberies. The left and the jihadis have what they want. Kamala and tim are their homies. I hope I’m wrong, who better deserving of a dumpster fire than dems, but I think they’ll probably score ‘points’ for their convention not being the shitshow expected by everyone.
It being Chicago, I wouldn’t be surprised if the riot mitigation companies are paying the rioters.

I think I’ll avoid the joyous violence of Chicago….for the rest of my life. Not just the DNC Hate Fest but the entire city 365 days a year. Downtown San Jose is bad enough.
It’s too bad. The views in Chicago used to be beautiful with the buildings and river, and its museum is world class. Street dogs are good too and so is the deep dish pizza but good luck not getting shot. I can eat a hot dog or pizza delivered to my home without worrying about that shit.
When I was younger I used to say when I’m 55 I’ll sky-up and move to Chicago to learn and play Chicago blues on my harmonics. (Blues harps) 55 came and went and well, because of USA I was making too much of a great income to leave and be a wandering blues player with holes in my shoes. Like San Francisco, Chicago has been a place Snake Plissken wants to part of to escape from — but these aliases – what an f’ing joke!

I spent a few days in Chicago on business. Went to the Sears Tower – Ditka’s Restaurant – few other nice places! Being from the SOUTH, when a fellow worker and I encountered someone we did that “Southern thing ” – “Hey, how you doin”? We’re lucky we escaped without being locked up in a Mental Ward! BUT, people were a tad friendlier than what we encountered in Baltimore! Chicago seemed quite safe and clean – that was in the early 90’s! I’m sure they didn’t have a PROFESSIONAL BOARD UP Company then!
Personally, I can’t wait for the Pro-Hamas riot. It will make 1968 look like a picnic.
