Democrat Congressman Jared Moskowitz, narrowly elected just one term ago, has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. From juvenile social media antics to dangerous bigotry, his behavior raises serious concerns about where his true priorities lie. While some mistakenly see Moskowitz as a “moderate” Democrat and supporter of Jewish and Israeli causes, his actions tell a very different story – one that includes defending an anti-Semite and associating with a radical Islamist.
One of the more bizarre aspects of Moskowitz’s time in Congress is his creation of the so-called “Sneaker Caucus,” a group he invented to flaunt his collection of ultra-expensive Nikes. This superficial obsession stands in stark contrast to the serious issues his district and our nation face, like homelessness fueled by skyrocketing housing costs or the rampant human and drug trafficking taking place across America’s porous borders.
In June, as Jews worldwide celebrated the holiday of Shavuot, commemorating the giving of the 10 Commandments, Moskowitz hosted “Sneaker Day on the Hill” — a shallow photo-op that showed his disconnect from the cultural and religious values of his own Jewish heritage and community.
Moskowitz’s antics don’t stop there. At a congressional hearing, he wore a Vladimir Putin mask, turning the proceedings into a spectacle. His social media feed has been the subject of numerous media reports due to its inappropriate content, including images objectifying women and harmful stereotypes of Asians.
What’s even more troubling is that Moskowitz consistently misses votes at a rate much higher than most of his colleagues. Under his watch, Florida’s 23rd Congressional District ranks 25th out of 28 in securing federal funds, despite representing major economic hubs like Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. His failures in securing resources for his constituents speak volumes about his lack of commitment.
Moskowitz brands himself as a bipartisan leader, but his voting record tells a very different story.
He favors opening up federal lands to house illegal aliens and to allow public schools to do the same, measures that have destroyed key parts of America. When Congress introduced a comprehensive bill to address the border crisis, Moskowitz voted against it. He supports in-state tuition and the issuance of professional licenses for illegals. And he supports allowing biological males to participate in girls’ sports and use girls’ facilities, undermining women’s rights.
Moskowitz votes with progressive firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) 84% of the time, including on several key issues with “The Squad,” whose member Ilhan Omar is notorious for her anti-Semitic and anti-American remarks. Shockingly, he votes with Omar 82% of the time.
Not only does Moskowitz vote in lockstep with Omar, but he’s also used his platform to protect her. When Republicans sought to remove Omar from the influential Foreign Affairs Committee after her latest anti-Jewish and anti-Israel remarks, Moskowitz voted to stop the removal.
Another troubling incident came after Vice President Kamala Harris harshly criticized Israel, using some of the most inflammatory language ever heard from a sitting U.S. official. No doubt, they were the most abrasive criticisms of anyone from the U.S. government following the October 7 massacre perpetrated by Hamas. Instead of condemning her, Moskowitz welcomed Harris to South Florida, where she doubled down on her remarks amidst his silence. Later, he endorsed Harris for President.
Moskowitz’s claim of bipartisanship rings hollow. Indeed, the closest to him being bipartisan is his “friendship” with radical Muslim activist and recently turned Republican candidate for Florida State Senate Imtiaz Mohammad.
In August 2018, Mohammad posted a photo of himself arm-in-arm with Moskowitz (both with big smiles on their faces) along with the following unsettling message: “Me and Jared ran a remarkable campaign. Regardless of our results tonight, we will unite our communities and work together to build bridges and make America stronger. I am proud of our friendship. A promise made at Kings Point [retirement community].”
The next day, Mohammad added, “I want to congratulate our state representative Jared Moskowitz for his well earned victory. We are looking forward to working together…”
Mohammad has had much involvement with the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), a radical Muslim organization which partners with those linked to South Asian terrorists and a group he deceptively praises as a “humanitarian champion.” In fact, Mohammad was the contact for an ICNA event featuring Monzer Taleb, a Hamas operative who has publicly called for Israeli Jews to relocate to Germany.
Mohammad himself has made bigoted remarks, once questioning if Jewish Congress members Ted Deutch and Debbie Wasserman Schultz were “representing all Americans or just one community.” Mohammad has also slammed America and her citizens, proclaiming at a radical mosque, “America [is] run on hate” and “American people are the most uneducated nation in the world.”
These are not isolated incidents. Even the local Republican Party disavowed Mohammad, citing his history of extreme comments and actions as being incompatible with its values.
Moskowitz’s relationship with and disturbing “promises” made to Mohammad indicate a dangerous conflict of interests and raise serious questions about his judgment and priorities. Instead of distancing himself from figures with extremist views and America haters, like Ilhan Omar and Imtiaz Mohammad, Moskowitz appears comfortable aligning himself with them.
Jared Moskowitz’s pattern of missing votes and supporting extreme policies along with his associations with controversial figures suggest that he is more interested in self-promotion than serving his constituents and nation. Voters in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District deserve a representative who prioritizes their needs, not one mired in controversies and poor judgment.
