In the imaginary world of international diplomacy, Israel is always the obstacle to getting a deal done, and the answer is more pressure on Israel.
In the real world, pressuring Israel encourages Islamic terrorists to believe that they can win and they double down.
Here’s the reporting from the Wall Street Journal on how the Hamas leader reacted to pressure on Israel by the Biden-Harris administration.
As Arab mediators tried to speed up cease-fire talks, Sinwar urged his comrades in Hamas’s political leadership based outside of Gaza to refuse concessions. High civilian casualties would create worldwide pressure on Israel, Sinwar said in a message.
In March, Israeli commandos seized another compound connected to Sinwar. They found uniforms, vests, submachine guns, binoculars and a laptop.
Again, Sinwar messaged Hamas officials, urging them to refuse a hostage deal. Hamas had the upper hand in negotiations, Sinwar said, citing internal political divisions within Israel, cracks in Netanyahu’s wartime coalition and mounting U.S. pressure to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.
The objective of the Biden-Harris administration had been to end the war by cracking Netanyahu’s coalition and imposing pressure on Israel.
That is still the objective.
It was also the Hamas objective.
Hamas and the Biden-Harris administration were essentially working toward similar ends. To whatever extent the Biden-Harris administration knew it, understood it or would admit it, its pursuit of a ‘hostage deal’ via a unilateral Israeli ceasefire played into the hands of the terrorists and made that deal impossible.
Weakness never wins, it only loses.
I guess it’s the way the world is, but Oct 7 and the accepted hatred of Jews in the public square, pushed by dimsis is not having any effect on Jewish voting. 68% are voting dim once again.
The whole world is nuts. Things that would be career ending in the old days, apparently they support and vote for more of. it’s all groups seem suicidal.

I’ve recently attended events with local Jewish organizations and not one Kamala voter was in the room. 10/7 seemed to have changed everything. Your stated statistic and my recent experiences are diametrically opposed. Also, I have not one Democrat voter in my family or social circle.
But who were the surveyed Jews that comprised your 68%?
Whoever they are, they are as lost and as wrong as the many thousands fold more numerous lefty Christians.

There, as here, you respond very negatively to the factual assertion that Jews vote overwhelmingly for democrats. This is the undeniable and historical truth, whether or not you like it. It is not hateful or anti-semitic to speak the truth.
When you call for censoring speech critical of Jews (as you did in the October 20th article), you are revealing a very progressive, leftist impulse. Why should Jews or anyone else be above criticism? Here is the article:
If you love your people (as is good and right to do), then is it not best to love them in truth? Perhaps Jews are becoming more conservative like you. That would be wonderful! But there is no data to indicate that Jews are becoming more conservative right now. My best guess is that Jews find Kamala’s anti-semitism to be greater than they can tolerate, but I hope I am wrong.
I wish you were right, Cat – that Jews were largely conservative and the progressives were a minority among them. But who can best reach those Jews who are stuck in progressivism? Someone just like you! But you are helpless to do so unless you can both see and acknowledge the problem.

Yeah. Excellent points. How exactly did Hamas have “the upper hand in negotiations”? Do you read the news? Do you know what “upper hand” means? The level of silliness in your columns is rising. I hope your editors are telling you that.
If the Hamas leadership had not believed they had the upper hand in negotiations, they would have caved months ago. But, the idiocy of progressives in the west calling for Israel basically to surrender has encouraged Hamas and its fellow terrorist organizations to keep hoping Israel would succumb to the demands of western leaders. Fortunately, the leadership of Israel has had enough of the BS and has decided to take care of business.

hamas and the u.s. have one thing in common . they would betray you in the blink of an eye . born out by the current criminal administration .
If Isreal’s enemies can decouple Israel from its support in the west, primarily the US, and the resupply of military aid stops flowing then Israel. they believe, can be finally be defeated on the battlefield.
Israels supposed allies, the US, France and the UK. are already starting to withhold military supplies, so the decoupling strategy by Iran and its proxies seems to be working. Hopefully when Trump becomes president this process will be reversed.
