How are things going in Berkeley?
After Oct 7, UC Berkeley launched a ‘Palestinian Studies Program” funded by a $3 million gift from an “anonymous donor”.
But that’s not even where a course praising Hamas comes from. Instead it comes from the English department.
The course description, since removed, is titled English Composition in Connection With the Reading of World Literature.” But the literature in question isn’t Gilgamesh. The subheader is “Leninism and Anarchism: A Theoretical Approach to Literature and Film”.
And it gets worse from there.
The course description falsely accuses Israel of genocide, hails Leninist movements, and hails the “Hamas revolutionary resistance forces combating settler-colonialism”, along with Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, and China.
UC Berkeley has since removed the course description.
That this insane Communist propaganda passed as course material in the first place though says a lot about the state of academia.

Oh, that reminded me. My parents took me to “All’s Quiet on the Western Front”, in black and white, in a crowded Berkeley theater when I was a kid. Must have been in the 1950s.
Wow AA, on the other coast mine took me to see “The Strategic Air Command” in the mid 50’s, but my Dad having been a part of The Army Air Corp. during WWII may have influences them a tiny bit.

My point was that the movie was still a big anti-war movie in Berkeley in the 1950s, drew a big enthusiastic crowd, hoping for disarmament in USA vs the USSR.

I believe Trump has stated that if a university continues to support such anti-Semitic and Hamas/Hezbollah/Jihadist activities it will have its accreditation pulled. Suspension of Federal funding would likely follow. It can’t happen soon enough and to such a deserving bunch of academic fifth column members and their supporters. If the new administration doesn’t drop the hammer on these clowns, there will be no restoration of academic integrity and accountability.
