The greatest scams in history (with the possible exception of crypto) have nothing on green energy.
There is nothing a green energy company can do or be accused of that will prevent governments from throwing money at it.
Flashback from 2021.
Electric truck maker Nikola said Thursday it was approved for a $2 million grant from the Energy Department — news that comes despite the fact that the company’s founder and largest shareholder faces federal criminal charges for deceiving shareholders.
Nikola has yet to produce any trucks ready for sale. It has promised to build 25 and 50 trucks by the end of the year, but it is not certain it will have all the parts needed to complete the trucks as planned.
This is a company that had been founded in 2014 and at one point had a higher valuation than Ford which had yet to figure out how to get the parts to build… 25 trucks.
Or get a truck to actually drive down a highway.
At the trial of founder Trevor Milton, prosecutors say a company video of a prototype truck appearing to be driven down a desert highway was actually a video of a nonfunctioning Nikola that had been rolled down a hill.
That didn’t stop the Biden admin from throwing millions at it even as…
….July 29, Milton was charged with securities and wire fraud, as US prosecutors accused him of false and misleading statements about “nearly all aspects of the business.”
Since his indictment, Milton has sold 14.5 million shares, raising $148.2 million. But he still owns more than 63 million shares of the company, or about 16% of shares outstanding, making him its largest shareholder. Milton disclosed about half of those sales in a new filing late Thursday.
The Department of Energy defended its grant process Thursday, saying that it “makes funding awards based on a rigorous, merit-based review process that includes multiple technology experts reviewing applications.”
How did this story end? The usual way green clean stories end. In fraud and tears.
In 2020, Nikola was valued at around $30 billion, exceeding the market capitalization of Ford Motor Co.
Nikola filed for protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and said Wednesday that it has also filed a motion seeking approval to pursue an auction and sale of the business.
The company has about $47 million in cash on hand.
Here’s a good rule of thumb. If it’s green, it’s not clean.
“Video of a prototype was actually a video of a nonfunctioning truck that rolled down a hill.”
I laughed out loud at that but I should’ve puked on my laptop. There’s no end to the corruption of the New Green Steal scam but thankfully the corruption of the Bribable Biden regime is no longer active. We’ll obviously be dealing with it’s aftereffects for a long time, though.
I don’t suppose AG Bondi can go after Milton Trevor Milton, his henchmen and the Alheimer Joe handlers they colluded with to rip off America? I know Washington DC is a never ending mountain of shit but the DOJ has to start digging somewhere and when it comes to the New Green Steal, the corruption is right on the surface.
And that human turd, Milton, defamed a great mind by naming his scam company “Nikola.” The last time I checked, alternating current works and electric 18 wheelers don’t. Somebody needs to find the lost plans for Nikola’s Death Ray© and erase Milton and all the Green New Steal and other mold monsters from existence.
Gravity Trucks 🙂
Yeah, send them down the Cajon Pass and hope they make the curves. Maybe they could make it to Phelan? Gravity power! Science fiction is now reality!
Milton should be subjected to gravity power by chucking him out of an airplane over a desert or ocean along with the deep state bureaucrats who helped him rip us off.
Crypto is full of scams (so not for amateurs) but not entirely a scam. I did some work on it at Berkeley in the early 1980s but they didn’t like my approach (although it was similar to what was eventually adopted 🙂
Oh well, I coulda been the Crypto King 🙂
I don’t understand fake money but I notice some people get filthy rich off of crypto, most people lose their investment money and some Crypto Kings are scam artists, like that young dorky guy who fled to some Caribbean island after he ripped off a bunch of people with his scheme but was extradited and is in prison now, I think.
To be honest, I don’t really understand pyramid schemes very well either, and I understand ponzi schemes even less. I just know to avoid things I don’t understand.
I’d like to see you as a Crypto King, though.
Yeah, its weird. I don’t understand most sciences but I do understand math and some parts of economics, like fake money and pyramid schemes and macroeconomics. My prof in college gave me a special award for being the best economics student he ever had, and before that my school district said I was the best math student they ever had. Yet I nearly flunked chemistry and physics 🙂
I never even worked hard studying math (until grad school) or economics either. Weird. Sorry for self-referencing, I just puzzle about it a lot, wondering why that happened. Maybe past lives 🙂
Actually, I found your post quite interesting. I don’t understand how it’s possible to be a whiz in math but not in physics. I, personally, was a dunce in math, chemistry, AND physics in college, but I attributed my incapabilities in the hard sciences to my difficulties in mastering math in general.
Hey, if you’re great at math, you’re great at math. Everybody should be proud of something. I believe hubris and conceit are sins but not pride. 🙂
“…a rigorous, merit-based review process that includes multiple technology experts reviewing applications”
1) About as rigorous and merit based as Biden’s asylum vetting?
2) The government needs to fire their technology experts. They appear to be as expert as the ones MSM trots on screen.
A better description of the grant process probably includes, “Well, we had money we had to spend and these applications used all the right buzz words.
Apparently the “experts” are all recruited from the witness protection program.
And Dr Zoidberg’s laboratory.
A “rigorous, merit-based review” couldn’t find that they hadn’t produced one truck in six years of operation?
Solyndra, anyone?
Did Musk take government money for Tesla? If he did, does he plan to give it back?
One of the best things Musk has done by supporting Trump is to motivate virtue signaling libs to stop buying Tesla. If it weren’t for the virtue signal crowd and taxpayer money, EV companies would probably have been been a fad whose time came and went.
As for “settling” on Mars, I don’t want my taxpayer money going for that nonsense either. We have enough problems here on earth that need to be addressed, for example man’s inability to coexist, before we contaminate other parts of the universe.
I do love what Musk is doing with DOGE, even if he is a bit of a sleazebag with a bunch of illegitimate kids.
MAGA
Tesla isn’t a scam that went bust and the woketards haven’t stopped buying Teslas. That moron, Cheryl Crow, donated her Tesla at a huge loss because she’s a Hasbeen who wants attention.
If NASA were capable of anything worthwhile, Musk wouldn’t be the only American launching rockets into space and then catching them after reentry. Who care if America funds a death sentence mission to Mars? The astronauts will know the risks and go anyway. The government is going to waste trillions upon trillions upon trillions no matter what Musk or anybody else does. Better Mars than the woke nonsense that USAID used as excuses to put money into the pockets of Turd World oligarchs and America’s enemies, including $18 billion to jihadi terrorist groups last year alone.
And it isn’t Musk’s fault that a bunch of gold digging whores want to have his children and so don’t use birth control. They’re the sleazebags. They’re all ho-bags.
Judging from your comment, you’re obviously risk adverse. I would also venture to say that you’re also anti-science and engineering.
Elon Musk net worth in excess of $400 billion dollars. He can more than afford to have as many children as he wants and quite frankly, it’s none of your business or anyone else’s. Your personal animus towards him is inappropriate in this forum.
And last but least, don’t hide behind the MAGA acronym. The tenor of your comments strongly suggests that given that this a nominally conservative forum, you use of the term MAGA is a canard. You’re not going to fool anyone here with that.
I wasn’t much for Musk because EVs aren’t really “green,” and they’re subsidized. That said, it turns out it was GM and Ford that lobbied for the subsidies, and he says he can get by without them, but it’s a fiduciary responsibility to take them if they are available. As far as EVs go, his are by far the best, and so are his charging stations, which are also much cheaper than the 3rd rate ones the govt. bought. The govt really screwed taxpayers by cutting him out of the contract for political reasons, like they did with their rural high speed internet boondoggle.
Musk isn’t asking for, nor expecting taxpayer money to settle Mars. That’s his baby. SpaceX is making money, having the most reliable, heaviest lift, and most economical rockets in the world. Finally surpassing the Saturn V after 60 years, with a reusable booster no less, is impressive. The commercialization of space is something else I’ve been waiting for all my life.
Those problems here on earth are why we need to move out into the solar system. An impact, or a nuclear or biological war could wipe us out. The asteroid belt is resource rich, as are Jupiter’s Greeks and Trojans, though they are further. Many of our wars are fought over mineral resources. Mars makes a good staging point for the belt, and it’s the belt that will make exploration and exploitation self-sustaining. Dropping things down the gravity well to Terra is relatively easy, and moving as much of our industry as we can off planet would be good for the environment. People think he’s rich now, wait ’til he starts mining asteroids and manufacturing things in space.
As for him spreading his genes far and wide, I don’t care. He supports them, and we need more people like him.
More of our Taxes flushed down the Toilet of Go Green Waste
Not sure how someone can get from Milton’s sham to Musk. Maybe to bring out the contrast?
Musk got a loan for Tesla which he repayed even before his company became profitable. How does this use taxpayers’ money?
The libs should know he sells Tesla’s ZEV credits to other companies to avoid penalties for not complying with the law – so he helps keep them in business.
As for colonizing Mars – he is a visionary. Thinks humanity will be saved from suffocating and starving itself with the unprecedented and unsustainable- by Earth – growth.
And what does DOGE have to do with his children?
Bashing and debasing someone will never make the libs misconceptions any more true.

This is Potemkin Village stuff. You can’t make this up.
Gravity Powered Trucks 🙂
Potemkin would be proud.
“If it’s green, it’s not clean.”
Are you going to trademark that Daniel, or can we steal it?
😉
