Dems and the media are still stuck on “won’t someone think of the government”. Their pathetic struggle to get someone, anyone to empathize with an entity that most Americans hate isn’t going so well.
So the media has tried appealing to our self-interest by…
- Warning that not spending billions to ship wheat to third-world countries that hate us will hurt farmers
- That firing IRS agents will make refunds arrive more slowly
- That firing federal employees will slow down the economy
I don’t foresee argument 3 performing any better than arguments 1 and 2 fared.
The Trump administration’s purge of federal workers may ultimately amount to the biggest job cut in U.S. history, which is likely to have ramifications for the economy, especially at the local level, according to economists.
While the precise scale of the job cuts is as yet unclear, evidence suggests it’s at least in the tens of thousands so far, economists said.
Tens of thousands, you say? 761,358 Americans lost their jobs last year.
20 million jobs were lost during the pandemic. And the media cheered.
While I don’t imagine shedding tens of thousands of jobs will be immediately ‘good’ for the economy, most of those federal employees will find other jobs (the same can’t be said for sizable numbers of workers who simply dropped out of the economy during COVID) and if this translates into reduced government spending, then it’s good for the economy. (That’s a big ‘if’ because federal budgets keep on growing rather than shrinking.)
It’s also good for taxpayers who don’t have to subsidize as massive of a state apparatus.

Good idea. Too bad Musk can’t recommend to President Trump that Congress Creatures be fired. He did write that Deep State bureaurats who can’t say what they’ve done lately they can hand in their resignations.
Less employed means lower consumption which means a slowing economy. Conversely it may lead to lower prices to entice shoppers which equals lower inflation (not to mention reducing wage pressures with a bigger pool of job seekers). The Fed has a dual mandate of achieving 2% inflation and low unemployment which makes rate cuts more likely, which is good. For now, Trump and Bessent are focused on long term rates like the ten year. Cutting in government not only reduces the deficit but reduces interest paid on deficit spending going forward, which will help bring down the long-term yields and seems to be working already, as the markets are forward looking. It could be one reason why 30-year mortgages are starting to fall. I see many in message boards saying the fed should raise rates to kill inflation, but I believe it is the high rates that are keeping this last bit of high inflation hanging around and Trump and his team understand this.
When the Fed raises rate, things usually seem to get worse. No doubt that’s why it’s done so often.

The two also discussed the IDF fly over of some Hizb’allah jihadi’s funeral with fighter bombers and IDF tanks in Judea and Samaria. RAV doesn’t hold back when its hosts and guests describe the Jihad terrorists trying to wipe out Israel as lying, cowardly, child murdering monsters, and that Netanyahu is going to have Hamas wiped out instead, no more playing around – according to the Rabbi, as Novak nodded along.

I expect firing a lot of government employees will in fact have a detrimental effect on the economy. But a temporary effect, not a permanent one. Of course the media will exaggerate the magnitude and duration all out of proportion, while avoiding any discussion about the benefits.
It’s something that needs to be done. These government employees are drones; they get paid $ and sponge off the rest of us for doing nothing productive.
After a short term adjustment, the overall economy will be strengthened.

The left’s “logic” is truly demented! Another example of the absurdity would be that putting ALL the bank robbers in PRISON would lead to economic losses since the banks could fire their security people!
The people leaving Our Government are mostly the “non-essential” and probably DETRIMENTAL to efficient operations! Many of these people have been “working” from home while collecting pay for working in a high cost area – DC! What should happen next would be an AMNESTY for those who have been fraudulently collecting higher pay! They should be given the opportunity to admit their “error” and REPAY their “premium pay” and face no further actions. Those who do NOT do so voluntarily should be investigated and have their fraudulent payments “clawed back” through severance pay or pension AND be subject to prosecution for FRAUD!
