The fact that the far left’s propaganda arm, otherwise known as the establishment media, is making so much of the Signal chat affair is an indication of how little it has to work with in the new Trump administration. Back at this point in Trump’s first administration, the Russian Collusion hoax was in full swing, and the Ukraine phone call impeachment, the bogus Jan. 6 “insurrection,” and all-out lawfare against Trump were in the offing.
By comparison, the Signal business is thin gruel indeed, but to try to make the most of it that can be made, a lawsuit has been filed, and lo and behold, Trump-hating Judge James Boasberg, the same corrupt leftist ideologue who has been doing all he can to stop Trump from deporting criminal migrants, has been assigned the case.
Fox News reported Wednesday that “the government watchdog group American Oversight filed the lawsuit on Wednesday, alleging that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and others violated federal records laws by discussing Houthi attack plans in a Signal groupchat. The contest has now been randomly assigned to Boasberg, who serves on the U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C.” Yeah, “randomly,” and I’ve got a very fine bridge to sell you over in Brooklyn.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) was right on the money when he referred to Boasberg and his ilk as “rogue judges.” Hawley declared: “These judges have proven they care more about unlawfully knee-capping President Trump’s agenda than accurately applying the facts to the law in each individual case. Congress can change that.”
Yes. And this mountain out of a molehill over the Signal chat is yet another effort to kneecap Trump and his agenda. Contrary to widely reported claims, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pointed out Wednesday that “The Atlantic has conceded: these were NOT ‘war plans.’ This entire story was another hoax written by a Trump-hater who is well-known for his sensationalist spin.”
Also, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, according to Fox News, “emphasized during a Wednesday House Intelligence Committee hearing that no classified information was shared in the chat.” Gabbard said: “It was a mistake that a reporter was inadvertently added to a signal chat with high-level national security principles, having a policy discussion about imminent strikes against the Houthis and the effects of the strike. The national security advisor has taken full responsibility for this, and the National Security Council is conducting an in-depth review, along with tech technical experts working to determine how this reporter was inadvertently added to this chat.”
That should be that, but not when the left wants to get Trump and thinks it has finally found a way to do it. There is a Road-Runner-and-Wile-E.-Coyote feel air of futility about this whole circus, and it obscures the only thing about this whole matter that even remotely approaches being an actual scandal.
National security advisor Michael Waltz said of The Atlantic’s far-left scandalmonger Jeffrey Goldberg, the “journalist” who was somehow added to the Signal chat: “I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but of all the people out there, somehow this guy – who has lied about the president, who has lied to Gold Star families, lied to their attorneys and gone to Russia hoax, gone to just all kinds of lengths to lie and smear the president of the United States – and he’s the one that somehow gets on somebody’s contact and then gets sucked into this group.”
That’s the real question: is there another deep state operative in Waltz’s agency who is trying to emulate Miles Taylor? Taylor was the young Trump administration official who shot to a kind of fame in September 2018, when he wrote an anonymous op-ed in the New York Times that was one of the first open acknowledgments that there was a coterie of federal bureaucrats that is determined to thwart Trump’s agenda by any means possible: “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration: I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.”
Interestingly, that article now seems to have been taken down from the Times website. But when it came out, it made the then-anonymous Taylor a hero on the left. He followed it up in November 2019 with another ostentatiously anonymous writing, this time a book called A Warning, one of the first publications in what became a cottage industry of Trump-is-stupid-and-evil books. A Warning was credited to “A Senior Trump Administration Official,” which was actually a false claim, as Taylor was a minor drone at best. But the “senior official” tag gave rise to a great deal of speculation as to who the author really was: John Kelly? John Bolton? Mike Pence? The disappointment was palpable when Anonymous turned out not to be a senior Trump administration official at all, but just little Miles, a thirtysomething former chief of staff to the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. That’s right: a nonentity.

First of all, why the hell would high ranking members in the Trump administration use a group chat text messaging app to communicate with each other? What – are they in high school? There’s something called secure phone lines you know. I have no doubt there’s also secure video conferencing that’s connected by an intranet. I mean these idiots using the Signal app is equivalent of these same people using Zoom via the internet to have a video conference.
Secondly, this story’s narrative doesn’t fly in the face of logic. It’s not like bum dialing someone on your cell phone, which is an honest mistake. When using a text chat app like Signal, you can’t ‘accidentally’ add a member to your chat. The only logical conclusion is that Michael Waltz deliberately searched out and added Jeffrey Goldberg to the group chat. Goldberg is the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic and is notoriously anti-Trump. That’s like saying the woman you had a nasty breakup with and who you’re not on speaking terms with, you just happened to ‘accidentally’ include her in a group chat text message with your friends.
Lastly, remind me again when politicians and/or high ranking government employees were caught doing something stupid and you believed the cover story that was put out there for public consumption? Exactly – this is the same thing and I’m not buying this…oops, Goldberg was ‘accidentally’ added on as a member to this Signal app group chat text.
It’s not like they took their servers off the NSA secure internet and had ’em put on public domain internet from their houses.

In a larger sense, I see this as Trump falling back into the habit of naively trusting people he should wary of trusting. Trump has often cited the aphorism about the lady and the snake. Perhaps for once, he should heed his own advice.
I have a couple of thoughts about this. 1) It should be OK to criticize Trump and his team when needed. They are not perfect. Are you interested in revenge against Democrats or public interest and the good of the country? I’m glad we have a two party system.
2) There was a vast potential for harm in the carelessness of using Signal for this chat. The lives of servicemen were compromised. Their enemies could have been alerted and in a position to shoot down airmen or bomb aircraft carriers. Jumping to the defense of Trump’s team seems to ignore this.
3) Goldberg should not be blamed for being included in the chat. He didn’t ask for it. Listen to him on a YouTube interview describing his dismay at being included. However, he did not act correctly either. He should have alerted authorities after the first of the two calls that something was amiss, like finding someone’s wallet on the street and turning it in to the police. Find out how Goldberg got included. Was this a political enemy attack – or part of the team’s general incompetence?
4) Gabbard, Waltz and Hegseth LIED repeatedly, at the senate hearings and Waltz on the Laura Ingraham interview where Waltz “took responsibility” by not taking responsibility. This childish, dishonest behavior makes me furious. I hate being lied to and I thought the Trump team would be beyond that.
5) As for me, I am a three time Trump voter, although I always preferred the primary alternatives. I give myself permission to think for myself. I don’t have to be a cheerleader. When the “other side” is right, i want to know about it.
The honest objective answer is yes. Trump and the people in his administration are not beyond scrutiny. This fiasco reeks of fecklessness and people in positions above their level of competence.
Trump has better rectify this situation ASAP or everything he wants to do will go for naught and amount to an exercise in futility. Failure to do so, and soon, will lead to the democrats back in control of the house and senate in 2026. If that happens their revenge on Trump will be vicious, relentless and unprecedented.

I read an article yesterday that NAMED the staffer who did the actual adding of the reporter. Could that staffer be a holdover from the Biden admin? The article did not say. However, it did mention the ties the staffer’s wife has to China. So Walz trusted his staffer and did not realize the initials were the same as another, legit person who should have been included in the conversation. FIRE the STAFFER! Perhaps because of this snafu lessons will be learned and staffers need to be more properly vetted.
