The Biden administration bragged of having taken the IRS to new staffing highs. It may have bragged too soon.
Roughly one-fifth of Internal Revenue Service staff — some 20,000 workers — are taking the buyout, a significant increase from the 4,700 employees who opted in for the first round.
Those are some of the biggest numbers so far. 1 out of 5 is a massive reduction.
And they may be getting closer to the target end goal.
An internal memo obtained by Politico and the Federal News Network stated the agency’s reduction in workforce would end in a figure as low as 60,000 to 70,000 employees. That would be down from more than 100,00 employees under President Joe Biden…
The Department of the Treasury did not respond to a request for comment for this story, but previously confirmed with USA TODAY that the IRS grew from about 79,431 employees to 102,309 under Biden and has since fallen back to its pre-Biden size throughout the first few weeks.
A 24,700 drop would actually reverse the Biden tax boom.
Things are running more slowly elsewhere.
At least 2,700 workers at the Energy Department — which oversees the nation’s nuclear stockpile — applied for the buyout last week, more than double the 1,300 who left in the first wave of deferred resignations. About 4,000 workers — roughly 7% of the workforce — at the Department of Transportation have also asked to take the offer.
There have been more than 280,000 planned cuts of federal workers and contractors across 27 agencies during the past two months, according to data earlier this month from outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
Those are spectacular numbers.

Come on Jeff, tell us how you REALLY feel!! Just think of that poor old lady who had her 200 year old shack washed away during Katrina! She was FORCED, mind you, to live in a modern APARTMENT that had “wavy” floors! TRUE! Her floors (for which she paid absolutely NOTHING) were the HAND SCRAPED, EXPENSIVE real wood floors! OH, and her BIG SCREEN TV (for which she paid NOTHING) was an old model! Odd that she didn’t complain about her cable/internet connections (FWSPN)!
OR, consider that other woman who said she had TRIED WORKING! She said she did it for about A YEAR – it was AWFUL – A YEAR!! And then she said “It was awful – worst year of my life – I hope NO ONE in my family EVER has to do that”!!

I worked my ass off until I started destroying body parts – then I blissfully retired with a severe work addiction – it took me 4 years to cycle out of that work ethic mindset to having my money work for me – my money working for me is a better worker than I was – I earn twice as much money this way than any single year working overtime.
We are so f’d up mentally in this world – education is still in an agricultural-industrial era mindsets when we are far into the technological era.
Elon Musk did not go to special schools and did not have a pleasant childhood – what he had and has is a compassion to learn and learn and a kid can read and read and read voraciously and not get obesely fat like not reading but sitting on their asses with video games
Musk has an extremely high IQ paired with a lot of drive. I know many who have one of those or the other, but I have never met anyone who has both.

These reductions need to be in addition to the firing of the 87,000 agents, many of whom received firearms training as part of their on-the-job training.
Isn’t it rich that the Agency that PERSECUTES YOU over $600.00 of income allows THEIR EE’s to owe MILLIONS in Federal Taxes? A CONDITION of Employment in OUR GOVERNMENT should be strict adherence to LAWS! Anyone who owes FEDERAL Income Tax should not get a Gov’t CHECK or Direct Deposit unless they are paying BACK their Taxes, Interest, and PENALTIES!
I do have to say ONE THING POSITIVE about the IRS!! THIS year we received our REFUND quicker than we EVER had – paper check – small return with no deductions – small business C! THREE WEEKS!! Maybe someone is MONITORING EE’s for PERFORMANCE??????
I got my girlfriend back in the day a big (by our standards) IRS refund. I cheated my ass off and put her name on it but it worked. You wouldn’t believe how many exemptions and expenses you can claim without any documentation. I claimed clothes, gas mileage, food and anything else I could imagine. She was grateful for the money she got and I had to contact the IRS and badger them to pay it out in a timely fashion.
I once met an IRS chick in a gym at my company. She was a savage.

The Deep State intended to hire 70,000 new IRS agents, whereas President Trump has eliminated 20,000 existing IRS agents. Its the difference between government that serves bureaucrats and government that serves the governed. And yet, there are people who still vote for the Deep State. Why?
