The migrants are coming!
Philadelphia received its first busload of southern border migrants when a bus from Del Rio, Texas pulled into 30th Street Station at 6 a.m on November 15th. The bus was a gift to the City of Brotherly Love, a sanctuary city, from Texas governor Greg Abbott, who for the last several months has been redirecting migrant buses sent to his state (as directed by the Biden administration) to big blue cities that signed up to protect and house illegals.
On the bus were Columbians, Cubans, Nicaraguans, Panamanians, Ecuadorians and Dominicans.
At 30th Street, greeters from the City of Philadelphia, the New Sanctuary Movement and the Nationalities Services Center, welcomed the visitors with hot chocolate, blankets and winter coats.
While only a few of the 30 people on board were due to “settle” in Philadelphia—most of the migrants would go on to other destinations—the city’s first migrant bus joined ranks with the more than 13,000 people already bussed to sanctuary cities from Texas, Arizona and Florida since April 2022.
For some leftwing activists, this was a celebratory occasion because anything that helps getting the white population down to 2% or less is a wonderful thing.
The bus will be the first of many migrant buses that will end up at 30th Street, or at the city’s new migrant welcoming center in North Philadelphia.
News videos of the event, filmed in pre-dawn darkness, showed a great deal of enthusiasm from the pro-immigration welcoming party.
The only thing missing were brie hors d’oeuvres and a champagne toast.
Prior to the migrants’ arrival, Mayor Jim Kenney took time out from his seclusion in City Hall tower to announce, “As a proud welcoming city, we will greet our newly arrived neighbors with dignity and respect.”
But he also had some scolding to do:
“Since this disturbing policy of busing immigrants is an uncoordinated way began occurring without warning in other cities, carious City agencies have been arduously working with our community partners to ready the city to receive these individuals.”
This was a stab at Governor Abbott and Florida governor DeSantis’ refusal to participate in the chaos created by the Biden administration at the southern border, where there is an ongoing invasion of refugees from Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Central America.
In many cases, these so-called refugees are part of large caravans or groups of people in search of a better life or better paying jobs, hardly refugees in the classic sense of the word, meaning people fleeing genuine persecution or who fear for their lives.
They are coming to a city where homelessness and drug addiction is at an all-time high, where the drug-addicted homeless can be seen sleeping outdoors in front of the local Rite Aid, WAWA, or Applebee’s restaurant; where used syringes dot the landscape like miniscule pieces of litter; where addicts help addicts shoot up in broad daylight on a neighborhood sidewalk near a children’s playground; where—in my immediate neighborhood at least—two male addicts in their thirties have been found dead within the last month: one in the back lot of a popular CVS, the other in front of a Nifty Fifties restaurant, his body discovered on a sunny weekday morning.
In the City of Brotherly Love, where passed-out addicts can be seen propped up against dumpsters like war dead or even curbside in front of a Dunkin Donuts as schoolchildren wait for buses to take them home; where panhandling has become normalized; and where mini tent enclaves crop up overnight along the recently-completed, multi-million dollar I-95 Interchange Project, built to beautify the city but which has become a ghetto walkway with trash, debris, and discarded syringes.
Welcome to Philadelphia — where you’ll see graffiti on many of the sidewalk memorial markers honoring murdered police officers, a city that — despite glowing articles about new downtown construction in hip urban publications–seems to be getting poorer and trashier as time goes by.
Amid all this, Mayor Kenney and his radical cohorts in City Council want to add a spicy mix of jobless, needy migrants (who don’t speak English) to the already overcrowded Purgatorio that Philadelphia has become, where gun violence and crime never take a holiday.
It’s as if the tribes of vagabond homeless who come to Philadelphia from all over the country in search of cheap fentanyl aren’t enough. No, Philadelphia wants to be a welcoming city to even more rootless souls, the more the merrier, because down and out really is the new urban chic on the city on the Delaware.
The connection between the city’s rising fentanyl deaths and Biden’s open border policies can hardly be described as fantasy, as if geographical distance was all that mattered to protect a city from southern border contamination. Indeed, even if Philadelphia were to encase itself under a Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome, the fentanyl would get here, thanks mainly to Mexican drug cartels.
Governor Abbott of Texas, who has consistently urged the Biden administration to designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations, has noted that “Fentanyl remains the single deadliest threat to our state and nation has ever encountered, killing four Texas every day.”
The story is pretty much the same in Philadelphia, and with the migrant buses due to arrive in quick domino-falling succession, the city can expect to find more fentanyl dead in front of convenience stores and restaurants.
How’s that for a world class city?
Of course, the left will tell you that the vast majority of fentanyl seized in recent years has been obtained by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (OFC), not the southern Border Patrol. The drug, they say, is mainly seized from smugglers at legal ports of entry, not illegal border crossings.
As if this makes a difference, because both legal and illegal ports of entry both involve dealing with Mexico. And Mexico is the problem. So why not cut off all immigration from Mexico, period, until America gets its house in order?
Biden’s immigration policy does not expel unaccompanied minors, a reversal of Trump administration rules. Once a migrant crosses over from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, expelling that migrant back into their home country after they have been given the green light to stay in the U.S. by federal agents is not possible because these countries do not accept expelled migrants.
As a result, they stay stuck in the United States.
Title 42, enacted by the Trump administration during the pandemic for quick deportation of illegal immigrants, had the support of the Biden administration until May 2022. A federal judge in November, however, put the elimination of Title 42 on hold for five weeks, meaning that after December 21, the invasion of migrants along the southern border will increase.
What a boom to the nation’s economy, not to mention the city on the Delware!
After December 21, those busloads of migrants to 30th street Station in Philadelphia could quadruple. But since Philadelphia is a sanctuary city (the mayor danced a jig with one of his assistants when the city received its official designation), politicians here, like progressive City Council member Helen Gym, will rejoice, for what’s better than tasting the fruits of diversity then meeting buses from Texas at 6 a.m. in the cold with hot chocolate?
Isn’t this much like a leftist sacramental, a holy moment in grass roots democracy? Getting the white privilege population down to less than 2 percent?
The city’s New Sanctuary Movement, which was the first to receive the news that Philadelphia was about to receive its first migrant bus, states on its website:
“Immigrant justice is a process that begins by confronting the reality that the immigration system is broken, but works as designed–to keep white people in power and hoard resources by denying the humanity of Black and Brown people, and treating them as less than human. Created out of white supremacy violence, it is designed to harm individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.”
Meaning, if you’re against busloads of people claiming to be refugees and wanting asylum, you’re a racist and a white supremacist.
That mindset, of course, needs to be burnt up in a hot Texas BBQ.
And so, symbolically at least, I will throw that mindset into the flames with these words from Governor Abbott:
“Until the Biden Administration does its job and provides Texans and the American people with sustainable border security, Texas will continue doing more than any other state in the nation’s history to defend against an invasion along the border, including adding more sanctuary cities like Philadelphia as drop-off locations for our busing strategy.”
They should be returned to combat homesickness.
Our home sickness. This is our home.
Sending them back is family reunification.
We are big supporters of families.
Just glad I made my visit to the wonderful historical sites in Philly about 7 years ago. Don’t think I would do it today, and if I did, it would be in winter. Heat and humidity make people crazy.
Conspicuously absent from the statement from Governor Abbott, who previously and repeatedly insisted that he would complete the wall along the Texas border if Washington refuses to do so, is any confirmation that he will actually proceed with such a plan. Talk’s cheap, governor.
Abbott should be running those buses full of criminal invaders back across the border 24/7, not to American cities. It’s our government’s constitutional duty to defend our border, and if they won’t do it, it’s our duty to defy them.
Just hang the silly bastards and be done with it.
Send them to the DNC HQ and UN
I understand the point Gov Abbott is making but now it would be best to send them all back across the Border into Old Mexico.
Every American should realize that it is too late to save this country. America will be a Third World nation. The Democratic and Republican Party should be proud of all the damage they have done.
All illegals should be forced to return to their countries. But, first, our southern border must be closely guarded against entry of ANY unauthorized illegal foreigner. And ANY nation refusing to take their citizens back, including those arriving here as unaccompanied minors, should immediately be cut off from any sort of aid from the USA. I am so sick of these cesspit nations and their people scamming and exploiting the USA. It amazes me that none of our feckless leaders are bothered at all at the open exploitation of our nation by other nations and their most burdensome citizens.
