Like a drunk Orson Welles trying to get through a Paul Masson wine commercial, Joe Biden stumbled through a debate that could have been better handled by 99.98% of the sober population of the nation.
Post-debate, Biden had a window in which to turn things around. Instead, he held a (presumably) pre-scheduled conclave with his family to discuss the future of the campaign. It’s a move that understandably rubbed plenty of Democrats the wrong way and reinforced the idea that Jill and Joe’s sister were calling the shots. The worst possible response to the notion that Biden was selfishly remaining in the race was to have Biden family members as the decisionmakers. It harkened back to the Clinton era in the worst possible way.
Democrats were furious at reducing the party to a family business. And it got worse from there.
The Biden campaign held a session with donors and scheduled Biden for a media interview, but House Democrats and Dem governors have been unable to get hold of Joe Biden. And they’ve been going public with their irritation.
House Dems are starting to lash out and call for Biden to drop out. Soon the governors will be next.
All of that could have been averted by putting out the fires quickly, but Joe Biden isn’t capable of doing it or even aware of the need for it. His staff appears to have insulated him from what’s going on outside.
Biden has faltered at dealing with international and domestic crises, now he’s failing to reckon with a party crisis.
You can blame some of this on his mental state, but he learned from the best. Barack Obama was also terrible at networking, touching base and the basic ins and outs of politics. Biden was supposed to be his mentor in that area, but he was never the people person he likes to pretend he was and certainly isn’t now.
After the debate, Biden needed to have spent the next days touching base, thanking, calling and reassuring top supporters and key figures. Instead he once again went on vacation.
At the rate he’s going, he may end up having to stay there.
Good analogy to the Afghanistan withdrawal, this is the political version, from bad to worse due to mismanagement.

There is a little John Steinbeck museum in the very large MLK Jr public library on a corner of the SJSU campus that looks interesting, though. Naturally, it never seems to be open.
Whomever is actually running the show there in the oval should have their political credentials voided. Freely admitting that Joe is lucid between 10a and 4p, then scheduling him for a 90 minute debate starting at 9p sounds like something we conservatives would set up. They’ve been listening to their own rhetoric and breathing their own fumes too long.
It’s little wonder that Democrat mega-donors have dried up after “We’ve finally beat Medicare” was uttered. The blank, open-mouth stares didn’t help Joe’s cause either. The whole thing felt like murder by debate for me, as if it all was planned.
I hope Joe stays in the race (as does DJT) because no one will be easier to beat…but I wonder if “Dr” Jill, Hunter and the innumerable handlers realize how much incompetence it took to make me feel bad for Joe. Elder abuse is a very real thing and there’s no prosecutorial immunity for the first lady.

It was just mentioned on the news yesterday that several of our largest government buildings are operating at under 20% occupancy mind you 80% of these government employees are getting paid to stay home since the early days of Covid the wasteful democrats just can’t get them to return to work. While the GOP and conservatives should attack the candidate, it is far more important this election to attack the democrat policies that Obama promulgated and whose acolytes continued in the current Obama/Biden admin. These include weaponization of the Federal Agencies, transgender activism, tilt to Iran, antipathy towards Israel, inflammation of racial hatred, hatred of police and their defunding, inflation, open borders, and lawfare. It is critical not only to handle any candidate that may be thrust upon the ballot but also to educate the general population so that the GOP and conservatives can combat the down ballot Senate, House, and local elections as well.

I am no fan of Trump but the truth is that if Trump had withdrawn from Afghanistan the way Biden did, with Americans dying in the process, Democrats in Congress would have held a another Trump impeachment hearing, with good reason.
The Democrats covered Biden for the Afghanistan Debacle because he is a Democrat. That was politics, pure and simple.
For me, that withdrawal, the way it was done, and the consequences of that withdrawal, is all the proof we need that Biden is totally incompetent and should not be running for another term. He should not even be President now.
