A litany of negative news follows Canada’s unelected Prime Minister Mark Carney around. The latest: “Carney apologizes for fake Trump-style buttons, Liberal staffers ‘reassigned,’” by Catherine Lévesque, National Post, April 14, 2025:
OTTAWA — Liberal Leader Mark Carney said on Monday he was “unaware” that Liberal staffers had planted some fake Trump-style buttons at a conservative conference last week but nonetheless apologized for this “unreservedly” on behalf on his campaign….I’ve made it absolutely clear to my campaign that this behaviour or anything approximating it or in that spirit is unacceptable (and) cannot happen again…..”
Carney said the staffers who were responsible for planting the buttons, have been “reassigned within the campaign.”…
Sam Lilly, a campaign spokesperson for the Conservative party, said the Liberal campaign “has been caught red-handed importing American-style politics to Canada.”
The issue is that Liberals traditionally bend over backwards to appear to distance themselves from American-style everything, particularly anything that resembles Trump.
Lilly continued:
The Carney Liberals are even willing to stoke election denial and jeopardize national unity in order to distract from the misery of the last decade of the Liberal government….Of course, Mark Carney won’t fire those responsible….From the top down, Carney’s entire campaign has been based on pushing those very same divisive attacks on their fellow Canadians.
Canada faces a groundbreaking election on April 28. Advance polling has already begun. When the disastrous Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came to power on 2015, Canada ranked fifth on the World Happiness Report. After a decade of Trudeau, Canada has dropped to 18th place, putting it “among the ‘largest losers’ in happiness rankings over the last two decades.” And for good reason.
A National Post article explains it in a nutshell: “The Lost Liberal Decade (2015-2025) has left Canada economically stagnant, deeply divided, militarily weakened and increasingly unrecognizable. If Carney wins, the next four years won’t be a reset — they’ll be more of the same.”
But there’s ample reason to assert that Carney is even worse than Trudeau. So let’s take a closer look at the smug, self-described “elitist” and “globalist” who stepped into his position as unelected prime minister of Canada.
Carney has never been elected to anything. He doesn’t hold a seat in Parliament. In the upcoming election, he’ll be running in the Ottawa riding of Nepean. Liberal MP Chandra Arya, who was democratically elected in that same riding, held his seat for a near decade. That is, until Carney came along. Arya’s status as candidate was revoked by the Liberal party’s “green light committee” because “new information” appeared. He was given no other reason for his formerly approved nomination being suddenly revoked, but everyone knows why.
An unsavory aura follows Carney around, as he maneuvers to be all things to all people, while maximizing his personal gain. Only three months ago, he was the chairman of the $900 billion Brookfield Asset Management investment empire, but he evidently lied about his support for relocating the company from Canada to the U.S.:
Mark Carney got caught lying.
Here’s what he said about Brookfield moving to New York: “I was chair of Brookfield Asset Management. I ceased to be chair on the 15th, I think, of January when I announced for leadership… The decision, the formal decision of the board happened… pic.twitter.com/fnJ2woR6OH

Prior to becoming Canadian prime minister in March, Carney revealed that he was in the process of formally renouncing his British and Irish citizenship to (conveniently) show his commitment to Canada.
Conrad Black wrote about Carney here: “Mark Carney has poor values.” Black stated that Carney’s book, Value(s): Building a Better World For All,
is the most turgid work of a political leader that I have read since Hitler’s Mein Kampf… The title is also the most sanctimonious of a political leader that I can remember since the retired Irish Taoiseach Charles Haughey, (who was caught with both hands in the cookie bin up to his shoulders), who modestly styled his memoir “Conscience of a Nation.”
Another core issue that makes Carney questionable is his waffling when confronted with the big issue of energy. For instance, his own campaign “admitted that he had muddled messages on pipelines.” But out of his own mouth he stated: “We must choose a few projects, a few big projects. Not necessarily pipelines, but maybe pipelines, we’ll see.”
Huh? So what might Carney possibly be hiding behind his obscure babble?
An Edmonton journal article entitled All the reasons why we can’t trust Mark Carney to put Canada first may give a clue. Steve Koonin, the undersecretary for science at the Department of Energy in the Obama administration, is quoted as saying that Carney “is probably the single most influential figure in driving investors and financial institutions around the world to focus on changes in climate and human influences upon it.”
Carney has also served as UN special envoy for climate action.
An economist and former senior editor of the Financial Post gave a grim picture of Carney’s agenda when he wrote in 2020:
Carney’s plan is to control the global economy by seizing the commanding heights of finance, not by nationalization but by exerting non-democratic pressure to divest from, and stop funding, fossil fuels. The private sector is to become a partner in imposing its own bondage. This will be do-it-yourself totalitarianism.
In fact, Carney himself has hailed the crazy climate change fanatic (turned pro-Hamas lunatic) Greta Thunberg, saying: “I am part of her movement.” Speaking of Hamas, Carney has also spilled the beans on where he stands on Israel’s war on Hamas. In March, Carney condemned Israel’s electricity cut to Gaza, without acknowledging the reason for it, and encouraged a global gang-up against Israel. Then, days ago:
Liberal Leader Mark Carney lets slip his stance on his Israel policy when he responded to an anti-Israel heckler asking about the “genocide” in Gaza
“I’m aware, that’s why we have an arms embargo,” Carney said, to cheers of “Carney! Carney! Carney!” from the crowd. pic.twitter.com/I2MjwLLPRM

But then Carney lied about it, claiming that “he did not hear the protester say the word ‘genocide.’”
Another troubling issues about Carney concerns China. A National Post report warns Beware, Mark Carney’s affection for authoritarian China. Carney can now be reasonably suspected of a mission to continue promoting China’s tight partnership with Canada that marked the policies of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and his son Justin. But as is characteristic of Carney, he tries to cover that issue up too.
Canada’s electoral interference watchdog says that the Chinese government was behind “recent campaigns on China’s largest social media network,” WeChat, “to influence opinion of Liberal Leader Mark Carney,” in a “generally positive light.”
Then the Globe and Mail reported last week that Mark Carney said “he had never heard of pro-Beijing lobby group,” Jiangsu Commerce Council of Canada, “in the Toronto area despite photos on the organization’s website showing him with two of its senior members.” Furthermore: “The Jiangsu council says on its site that ‘in an in-depth exchange’ with two of its leaders, Mr. Carney ‘highly praised the pioneering role of the Chinese business community in emerging fields such as clean technology, digital trade and financial technology.’”
Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has warned about the “Machiavellian” Carney, noting that he “did a terrible job” at the Bank of England and that “Canadians need to wake up to the threats that he and Liberal policies present.”
Mark Carney has mastered the modus operandi of a chameleon in the course of his extensive work history as a globalist elitist. Canada now stands at a dangerous crossroads.
Thank you for publishing an unbiased record of Liberal deceit in the current election Campaign.
Despite financial control of the Mainstream media, the fact that the current liberal leader contender is indecisive stands out in your report.
It is refreshing to discover the “real news” regarding the ever plastic statements Mr Carney is making during this election. Like a three year old, Mr Carney tells the crowd what he believes they want to hear. The Liberal’s if elected to power, will revert to their economically destructive “net zero” plans to fight the “Chicken Little , Sky is falling” specter of “Climate change”
As if higher taxes can change the weather…
The Carbon cycle is essential to human survival on the planet. Disruption of the carbon cycle may lead to a cooler, less productive (food becomes scarce) and civilization as we know it collapses.
When we burn coal for energy, we are releasing sunshine that fueled the Carbon cycle 370 million years ago.
When we burn gasoline for our cars we release sunshine from 70 million years ago.
When we burn a tree in a campfire we release sunshine that grew that tree for 70 years.
Nuclear power – and the complete use of nuclear fuel rather than stopping the process because of the fare of “Weapons grade Plutonium – a really good nuclear fuel – would give unlimited energy.
The sewage from our cities could generate huge amounts of methane (Natural gas) but those programs although affordable, are not glamorous.
The Liberals see “net zero” as a tax cash cow, not a means to preserve precious Carbon reserve of energy.
Bottom line, every thing ends. Expensive energy will end civilization as we know it as Carbon becomes too precious for use by the common human.
There is no better example of “Net Zero” foolishness than Great Britain. They are spending billions to reach a “goal” that will impoverish the entire nation even though their “carbon footprint” is around 1% of world wide output. This is what you get when you elevate climate change zealots to positions of power. Where are these billions going, especially in a country with such a small “footprint”? Someone is making a lot of money and, in the overall picture, very little is actually what one would call money well spent. The bottom line is there will be no end to what we are expected to sacrifice if we continue to listen to these climate ideologues.
Actually Germany and their insane virtue signaling pursuit of net zero, may be worse. They have crashed ahead of Britain and are already suffering the consequences with astronomical power prices and absence of reliable supply. They are relying on low grade coal powered plants to prop up “renewables” now that the Russian natural gas has been turned off. Carney wants to do even worse and it getting caught lying when he speaks. He tells English Canada that he supports a pipeline from Alberta to eastern Canada and tells French Canada that he will never build a ;pipeline through Quebec.
Of course a smug, arrogant elitist such as Mark Carney would accuse Israel of “genocide” and be heedless of the misery his failed policies cause. Canada, in spite of its vast size and wealth, admitted fewer than 5,000 Jews during the Nazi Era 1933-45. That less than one fourth the number who found a haven in Shanghai, then a squalid and horrifically overcrowded city. Canada’s unofficial slogan was “none is too many” during the Holocaust. Now people like Carney and his immediate predecessor Justin Castreau (whose racial impersonations would have embarrassed Al Jolson a century ago) ostentatiously welcome hordes of Muslim invaders with “Refugees Welcome!” lawn signs.
Nothing has changed in Canada just the same old same old stuff as before
“chronic pattern of dishonesty”? C’mon. He was head of both the Bank of England and the Bank of Canada.
What more do we need to know?
Are there no other candidates outside of this Carney dude? Does Canada have no power to run itself? I am thinking America is the only land where our govt is designed for the people to have the power.
We do have the solution to this insanity, his name is Pierre Poilievre. The MSM and the left-wing establishment have banded together, like was done in the US, to destroy him so that their rape and pillage of the country can continue as usual. April 28th will show us our country will survive. 4 more years of liberal policing will push us past any chance of recovery and we are doomed as a society and a country. We can’t take any more unchecked illegal immigration and uncontrolled spending where billions are missing and nobody knows where it went, other than into the pockets of liberal supporters. We have been invaded by the chinese communist party and their enablers in our government. Whistleblowers have just released a report showing at least 9 members of the liberal government are directly involved with the chinese, breaking laws and taking bribes. Our deputy PM and other major cabinet ministers have been exposed. We have no DOGE. We have no Bondi. Nothing is being done to stop them.
Thank you, I knew something/someone was missing all of a sudden. I am so sorry, Angus, for the immediate plight of our great Canada. From a USA woman.
