The most elementary way to ensure public safety is to lock up monsters and keep them locked up.
While some monsters may be suffering from psychiatric problems, a serious enough crime makes them a perpetual threat to public safety, but Connecticut is freeing the Cannibal Killer after he ate a man’s brain and eye a little over a decade ago.
In 2012, Tyree Smith killed and ate another homeless man’s brain and eyeball and washed it down with some sake.
Smith was found not guilty by reason of insanity and institutionalized. Now the experts in Connecticut claim that he’s medicated and ready to be released.
Even assuming that he’s no longer ready to eat people while being medicated, it’s only a matter of time until he stops taking his meds.
And then may decide to go back to chowing on someone else’s brain.
“How do we know he won’t do this again?” the victim’s sister-in-law asked.

After I read this article I looked up this gentleman, Tyree Smith. The murderous madman wasn’t supposed to be allowed access to human brains in public for up to 60 years and he’s out of the loony bin in only 12 years? Reportedly he wasn’t sentenced until 2013 for some ridiculous reason. The mental hospital the psychotic schizophrenic was committed to, Whiting Forensic Institute, isn’t even a hospital for the criminally insane, WHICH APPARENTLY DON”T EVEN EXIST ANY MORE. The crazy cannibal ate part of a Mexican bum’s brain and his eyeballs in a graveyard because he thought mythological Greek gods told him too so he could understand his victim and see some weird shit through his eyes. Afterwards he wandered to a Subway sandwich restaurant because he was still Hungry! Brains, eyeballs and subs? And he’s walking around free? During his trial, he told the psychiatrist who interviewed him he wanted to eat her brain!
The cannibal murderer is in a group home now. How’d you like to be a member of THAT group? Fuck that shit. He probably sizes up the other members as menu items when he looks at them, like that old Warner Brothers cartoon about the two castaways on a desert island so small all it had was one coconut tree and a sandy beach that was only about ten feet in diameter. (About 31 feet in circumference, I think. AA would know it down to the exact inch but that pi stuff is hard for me to do in my head because I never learned it in school.) Yes, I remember when you told me about that. I thought at the time: “I wonder how his buddy slept at night when he was with the Kuru cannibals?”
But being schizophrenic does remove the necessary mental state to be found guilty. It is the key to freedom for criminals who can plead, “Yeah, I strangled my wife to death because I thought her neck was an orange. I was crazy then, but now I am okay!”
So, instead of going to prison, you go to a hospital for treatment and meds. Then, when you are “better,” you are released because you were found NOT GUILTY by reason of insanity.
There is NO consideration given by the law to the universal propensity of insane people to be non-compliant in taking their meds. I used to work the mental health docket. Many of my clients were “frequent flyers” who would cycle through the system over and over. I would always see them shortly after they first arrived and then again at their hearing a couple of weeks later. Meds transformed them miraculously, but had side effects they hated. And when they feel better, they say, “I am just fine! I don’t need these pills.”
The law needs to have a provision for entire removal of person from society when the pattern of non-compliance is established. The “freedom” of the perpetrator weighs less than public safety – and that needs to change. Freedom is much more than lack of physical confinement, too.
Yes, the criminally insane need to be removed from society permanently. Most schizophrenics aren’t dangerous but brain and eyeball eating cannibals definitely qualify as criminally insane, which makes them more than a little dangerous.
And you’re right. Loonies who stop taking their medicine are the norm. I mean, it’s not like society can trust loonies to behave rationally.
Cannibals need to be put to death, removing them from society is not good enough – because once in prison, the cannibal will continue to eat people. A prison guard from Stockton, Cal. told me this a few years ago. They had two cannibals locked up in that prison. The prison put two inmates in each cell. The cannibal soon had a cell to himself because he killed his cell mate – the autopsy on the dead cell mate showed internal organs missing – nowhere to be found in the cell – because the cannibal ate them. This type of evil can come about when a person is demon possessed, as was true in the Stockton case – because the guards could almost not control the cannibal when trying to move him out of his cell – it took 5 guards to take the cannibal down and only by being demon possessed could this occur. I once witnessed a demon possessed person many years ago, so don’t tell me that this is a fantasy that someone created from thin air.

I was going to argue with THX about the origins of cannibalism but thought better of it. When reading history the further back I go the more likely there was cannibalism. And in the most primitive societies today, like in Africa or Muslim countries, one often finds cannibalism.

Frontier justice (aka, vigilante justice) is more effective in ensuring public safety than the death penalty doled out by the justice system. It’s cheaper, faster and more certain than the courts.

Yes, when the guilt of a murderer is known as a fact, courts are a waste of time. Tyree the crazy cannibal is wandering around free because of a court and we can assume he may get the munchies and hear voices tell him to munch on somebody at any time.
and surprisingly, there is a passage in the Old Testament that gives the family of the murdered victim the right to kill the murderer if the victim’s family finds him before the authorities do.

Oh, and my next door neighbor is a bit schizophrenic because of the PTSD he suffered in Iraq or Afghanistan, I forget which shithole it was, and he sometimes yells at his imaginary tormenter but it’s only to tell Mr Phantom to STFU and that he’s going to kick his ass if he doesn’t. He’s crazy as a bedbug if he’s alone too often but he isn’t violent and he’s actually a very nice, courteous and polite guy. He goes out of his way to help people and try to be normal. He was fine when his last girlfriend lived with him but she’s gone.
I told him not to listen to the voice. I can hear him cursing at the voice through my apartment wall occasionally so I know he’s not dangerous but boy do I pity him when he’s like that.
I feel very limited pity for violent schizophrenics who act on what they’re told, though. At least my neighbor knows the voice he sometimes hears isn’t real but he says it’s hard to ignore. And he doesn’t eat brains and eyeballs. Anybody who does that is violent, imaginary voices or no imaginary voices, and sure as shit shouldn’t be roaming around in public.
I think that talking and yelling when alone is a way to hear a human voice to break the loneliness. However, that can bleed into behavior when others are present.
Yeah, probably. I’ve lived alone for five years now and I sometimes mutter or yell at my TV when I watch all the crap America is going through on the news. There’s nobody here for me to disturb so I let the curses fly. I doubt I’ll eat a brain lunch with eyeball appetizers but I’m glad I have chicks come over. I think if a person were alone all the time they’d definitely go nuts like Pappilon did temporarily in that Steve McQueen movie.
It reminds me of how rough the J-6 political prisoners had it. They were locked in solitary for long months at a time, as we know. One of them who was pardoned by President Trump is still in there because of corrupt state bureaucrats. I have a family member who is a US Marshal out of CT. We chatted over the weekend about this case. He was part of the Marshal team that took this guy down when the arrest warrant was issued.
He said this guy is truly nuts and is a serious danger. These officials who released him in CT are as nuts as he is.
