CNN data expert Harry Enten delivers poll results on air to his colleagues, whether they want to hear it or not. On the first Friday of President Donald Trump’s second term, he brought bad news to CNN morning anchor Kate Bolduan that a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found Trump had a net approval rating of plus-6.
This term is starting much differently than the last one. Enten explained that in January of 2017, Trump became the first president in (polling) history to start his term with a net negative approval rating, a minus-3. From that January to this January was a 9-point swing.
He’s not just doing better than he was eight years ago. He’s doing better than he ever did in the entire first term. His best net approval rating was a plus-3 in March 2017.
Enten really offended his CNN colleague when he claimed: “This is a very different Donald Trump. He’s leading a very different administration — the way he’s attacking things. And the American public is very much more in line with him than they were at any point during his entire first term.”
Bolduan felt compelled to dissent: “I would say, correction! He’s not a very different Donald Trump. This is a very different Donald Trump — as being viewed by voters in this moment.”
Then Enten elaborated on his “very different” point, that with new chief of staff Susie Wiles, Trump is “going at things in a much less disorganized fashion. Much more organized.”
A few seconds later, the video of this became more amusing when he underlined how unique this was: “Has the second term net approval rating in the first month? Have you ever had a higher rating than any net approval rating during the entire first term? Donald Trump is the only — ”
Speaking for her CNN colleagues (and the Trump-hating CNN audience), Bolduan broke in with a high soprano voice: “I have a tough time believing this.”
Enten finished his thought: “This is 100% true. I went back. I love spreadsheets … This is true. I don’t make stuff up. The numbers are the numbers!”
Bolduan aerobically rolled her eyes at this part, like she simply cannot believe or tolerate the fact that Trump is at a peak of popularity right now. It might not last. Or it might get even better.
There’s been a more dramatic shift on which party is better with immigration. On Jan. 27, Enten found Trump’s approval rating on immigration right now is 46% approve to 39% disapprove. But when asked which party is better at handling the issue of immigration, Democrats led eight years ago by 11 points. Right now, the Republicans are up 22 points. The massive surge of illegal migrants under Joe Biden caused Americans to get more “hawkish” on the border.
Enten’s not always delivering good news for Trump. On Jan. 28, he noted a Reuters poll found that Trump’s jawboning about buying Greenland from Denmark may be the most unpopular position he’s taking at the moment. Fully 58% of Americans didn’t want to pressure Denmark to sell it (16% in favor). Even 42% of the GOP respondents weren’t behind this Greenland gambit.
Journalists may focus too intensely on opinion polls in between elections. When Republicans win, they’re very attentive to GOP poll ratings sinking. Their “news” coverage seems designed to make that decline happen. The media are currently struggling with the public mood that Democrats performed badly and deserve some time in the minority. In other words, they have low ratings like CNN and MSNBC.
They also must wonder who the American People no longer trusts them and who CNN polls have Crashed and Burned and the NYT’s/WP/TIME/NEWSWEEK as w ell as the Talking Heads from 60 Minutes Sunday Morning, GMA,TODAY Etc. is losing its Subcriber,s to Conservative News Sites

No bitch, you have a tough time accepting this. The rest of us have a tough time believing this because an Al Reuters poll is as unbelievable as a CNN poll. President Trump has a net approval rating FAR greater than +6. Not only that but the people who disapprove of him are anti American scum and real Americans not only don’t care what they think, we hold them and their feelings in contempt.

My Japanese daughetr-in-law hasn’t read the first one and we don’t discuss it because I love her, and besides – it was a long time ago
I remember getting hooked of those books back in the day, and as they began to pile up in my bedroom, Dad finally stopped buying them for me, because they were “American propaganda” he said.
None of my family are Americans except for my sister who votes Democrat, but I love her like I do my daughter-in-law. We just don’t talk politics.
As mentioned above, I love the idea of America (even though most of my closest relatives are United Empire Loyalist stock) but I don’t plan on ever going back to the U.S..of A. again unless and until that country gets back to its real roots of freedom of speech, freedom of association, and freedom of religion. It’s just too dangerous otherwise. The one real hope, I think.
And I don’t say that just because I was mugged by a swarthy gang at the Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago) in 1968.
America is fast getting back to its real roots of freedom of speech, freedom of association, and freedom of religion under the leadership of President Trump. He’s repeatedly mentioned those principles by name and is working on their restoration.
I truly hope he succeeds. I’d like to take my grandchildren to Disneyworld someday, but not now while the Disney franchise has sold out what made it a great place for families.

The left thought they had it in the bag – Hunter was their “bag man”! But then like most greedy, corrupt people they went too far! They succeeded in stealing the 2020 elections – PLURAL because many Congress/Senate/Governor elections were the results of fraud – and thought there would be no resistance so they began flooding Our Nation with MANY of the worst of the World! While many Americans were struggling to survive the biden bunglers’ rule, the ILLEGALS were treated as royalty! THAT was the straw that stirred the drink!!
When PRESIDENT TRUMP’S Team is successful in removing the most dangerous criminals and crimes reduce there will be more people thanking him! When the MILLIONS of ILLEGALS are cut off from the US TAXPAYERS’ teats and head home there will be houses and apartments and JOBS available for US CITIZENS. Prices should FALL rapidly – many of the companies who thought they could control the home markers will take a beating and hopefully just go bankrupt! The danger later will be those who crossed over to help elect PRESIDENT TRUMP fall back into their previous habits. A great – GREAT – CHANGE is happening in Our Nation and everyone (except the corrupt DEMOcrats/rinos) should be thankful!! I know I am!!
Trump has no intention to ‘buy’ Greenland. He was bringing Denmark to the table to discuss their lack of security upgrades.
I’m not surprised by any of this coming from CNN (“Seein’ Ninnies”), as this “news” network has for a long time been little more than a 24-7 infomercial. What is marvelous is that their masks are off and their non-existent journalistic integrity is available for all to see.
This article makes it exceedingly clear why I am no longer a Republican. I voted for Trump and Mark Robinson (NC Gov). No other GOP candidate got my vote.
It sure is nice to feel clean again and not be confronted by agenda legislation and socially destructive edits. We beat back the affirmative action societal cancer and applied equal tight amendments that Demarcates voted against almost lockstep (Why do we forget that slave states were blue states? ) Why have we forgotten that all the blues states had lower wages packages and back door hiring practices non-Union, the child labor law legislation was present to the legislative body by Republicans. It was the Democrats that put the social security tax money into the general funds, they are the individuals that have applied it to their illegal immigration and settlements system .
