The news out of the United Kingdom, as is so often the case, was startling: the Daily Mail reported recently that “Britain may be stuck with a gun-toting Channel migrant due to human rights laws, it was feared last night.” That’s right: like so many other things they once thought they could trust, the human rights laws that British citizens thought were protecting them are actually being used against them.

The Mail explained that the “Palestinian Abu Wadee – who called for ‘death to all Jews’ – is in custody following his arrest on Sunday night, three days after crossing from France in an inflatable dinghy.” He should, of course, be deported immediately, but Britain would need to be a sane society for that, and Britain today is anything but a sane society. It is the UK Home Office, which is supposed to be dedicated to the wellbeing of British citizens, that is ensuring that those poor people will have to put up with Abu Wadee for a considerable time to come.

That’s because “the Home Office’s own guidelines,” says the Daily Mail, “effectively prevent people being sent back to war-ravaged Gaza, raising concerns Wadee will be allowed to stay in Britain.” And so celebrations over his arrest are decidedly premature: “News of his arrest was welcomed by MPs and Jewish groups last night, after The Mail on Sunday exposed him as a former key member of a militant group that terrorised Israel, recorded a video in which he prayed for Allah to ‘punish [Jews] completely’, and uploaded images of himself with automatic weapons on social media.”

Yes, it is good he was arrested, but this is Keir Starmer’s Britain we’re talking about. Abu Wadee will likely be out on the streets in no time, able to terrorize Jews and other non-Muslims in Britain to his heart’s content.

A member of the opposition who still possesses a modicum of sanity, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp, stated: “I am concerned this despicable man will make spurious human rights or other claims to try to stay in the UK – which weak immigration judges are all too likely to accept, based on past form.” A spokesman for the Home Office, on the other hand, brushed aside Philp’s concerns, and said blandly: “The public can be reassured that we take all steps necessary at all times to protect the nation’s security.” Yeah, sure you will.

While Abu Wadee looks as if he is home free, the Home Office is intent on banning foes of jihad violence from entering the country. Several years ago, it banned Martin Sellner, Brittany Pettibone, Lauren Southern and Lutz Bachmann from entering, all for the crime of opposing jihad terror and Sharia oppression, and thereby made it clear that it is authoritarian and unwilling to uphold the freedom of speech – and has been since long before Starmer became prime minister.

The bannings of Sellner, Pettibone, Southern, and Bachmann were just part of a long pattern. Pamela Geller and I were banned in 2013, apparently for life, also for the crime of telling the truth about Islam and jihad. Just days after Geller and I were banned, the British government admitted Saudi Sheikh Mohammed al-Arefe. Al-Arefe has said: “Devotion to jihad for the sake of Allah, and the desire to shed blood, to smash skulls, and to sever limbs for the sake of Allah and in defense of His religion, is, undoubtedly, an honor for the believer. Allah said that if a man fights the infidels, the infidels will be unable to prepare to fight.”

In December 2023, shattered, staggering, dhimmi Britain admitted a Muslim preacher from Bangladesh, Abdur Razzak Bin Yousuf, who once denounced women as “dangerous objects” who are “created only to give peace and satisfaction to their husband.” He also characterized a campaigner against child marriage as “an animal, he is Satan.”

In December 2016, it was Syed Muzaffar Shah Qadri, whose preaching of hatred and jihad violence was so hardline that he was banned from preaching in Pakistan. Nevertheless, the UK Home Office welcomed him into Britain.

The UK Home Office also admitted Shaykh Hamza Sodagar into the country, despite the fact that he has said: “If there’s homosexual men, the punishment is one of five things. One – the easiest one maybe – chop their head off, that’s the easiest. Second – burn them to death. Third – throw ’em off a cliff. Fourth – tear down a wall on them so they die under that. Fifth – a combination of the above.”

And so on and on and on. The British government, in its abject pursuit of support from its rapidly growing Muslim community, has long ago left behind any semblance of a desire to protect its own people. The consequences will be severe, and they won’t come from the counter-jihadis that the Home Office banned. They’ll come from the jihadis the UK government has embraced.
