There have been a lot of dumb lawsuits against the Trump administration, but the one by the International Refugee Assistance Project epresenting World Church Services, HIAS and Lutheran Community Services is particularly dumb.
One of the Pacito v. Trump plantiffs is ‘Ahmed’, an Afghan man currently in Germany, on account of Biden’s mass evacuation, and the lawsuit insists that he be allowed to come to America because “he does not know the German language, which prevents him from working in Germany to support himself”.
And it’s somehow easier to dump him in America than spend 10 Euros on a DuoLingo subscription.
The failure to learn German does not make Ahmed a refugee. And it’s a whole lot cheaper for us to buy him German lessons than to spend the rest of his life subsidizing him and his entire clan in America.
The refugee grifters need to be shut down once and for all.

The Lutheran Church should be designated as an enemy to the US.

Long gone are the days when parishioners provided support. No more asking elderly widows to open their purses. Now churches just hook into the many willing global partners who will fund their priests / pastors, schools and churches in return for assistance with mass, third-world migration. No more pledge drives!

There should be only one national language, English. Perhaps competency in English should be required for immigrants.
The old immigrants to America used to learn English out of necessity.
It’s like when you go to another country. Do you expect them all to speak your language? No, you try to speak theirs. Why go there in the first place?
I think President Trump just declared English as the national language. Maybe it was an edict or a fiat or whatever. You never know with that guy.
Thanks Jeff … that reminded me, along SF Bay the authorities posted signs in Vietnamese warning the fishermen that the fish were poisoned with mercury or something 🙂
It wasn’t just Spanish signs that were needed, you probably saw also that California forms from the state government now have help for dozens of other languages included 🙂

The United States is a country, not a rescue mission.
I remember back in the seventies a Dade county judge had the language issue come up in a traffic court case. The defendants lawyer argued that as his client couldn’t read English, the sign he disobeyed should have been posted in Spanish as well as English. The judge responded that that was a possible solution to the problem. However he said the county also had a sizable Chinese population as well as 100,000 Italians. He said the county could post signs in all the various languages but that then you no longer be able to see the intersection because of all the signs. He said a far simpler solution was for people living in America to learn English. The defendant lost.
56% of Germans are fluent in English.
Learning English is compulsory in German Secondary Education.
I’ve been from Berlin to Munich to Stuttgart multiple times and never had a problem communicating, and I don’t speak German either.
Everything about this case is bunk.
