The ‘Republican Front’ is back.

After losing badly in first-round voting that boosted Marine Le Pen’s Nation Rally, Macron and his allies are rebuilding the so-called ‘Republican Front’ by directing support to the leftist La France Insoumise under Jean-Luc Mélenchon to stop a conservative government from being able to be formed.

The desperate measure would have more credibility if Macron hadn’t previously correctly spoke out against LFI and if Jean-Luc Mélenchon wasn’t exactly whom they accuse Marine Le Pen of being.

La France Insoumise includes actual Communists and Melenchon has his own Communist background. He’s a political extremist, pro-Putin and an antisemitic bigot. Not that anyone in the media currently promoting LFI will tell readers and viewers that. CNBC decided to give Thomas Piketty a platform to pump up LFI and to blame Macron for not previously cutting a deal with Communists without ever using the ‘C’ word.

The Republican Front however will send a different message to voters than the intended one.

LFI pretends to be populist and anti-establishment, but in a pinch the establishment has turned to LFI to stop the actual populists and anti-establishment forces.
